This place surpassed all of our expectations and left us talking about it ever since. We began with a really nice selection of white wine. I can't recall exactly which one, but it was really enjoyable. So much so that we ended up with a second bottle. As an appetizer, our server suggested the entree portion of ravioli that we could all share. What a great choice! This ravioli is made fresh daily and it was incredible! For the main course, I chose the beef tenderloin which was accompanied by vegetables and a morel sauce. The tenderloin was cooked to perfection and was so tender and flavorful. The sauce was a perfect companion along with the vegetables and potato gratin. Everything about this place warrants its 5-star rating. I can't wait to come back to Switzerland and come back here for another enjoyable evening.

If you are willing to study the menu by yourself with the help of Google Translator (lol) but want to have a local experience, this place is it! First of all, the service here is amazing. We felt welcomed and invited. This place have very cute garden-looking area inside and outside of the restaurant. I wish the weather was bit warmer for dinning in that area, but it was bit chilly. Food is amazing too!! I had Iberico and my bf had 'spring chicken' which was super tender/juicy. I don't know how else to describe it, just come by and try the food :-) Towards the end of our dinner, we realized some of the restaurants only accept cash- so we were worried that we might be washing the dishes rest of the night, but luckily THEY DO ACCEPT CREDIT CARD. Overall our last night in Switzerland was very memorable :)

I had lobster with angel fish dish. It was delicious as well. Salad was just OK. not very impressive. I had salad with egg, bacon and warm goat cheese. You might love this if you are a fan of Goat cheese since it comes with a huge chunk of goat cheese. Attentive service. PS: Complimentary bread was good. warm and crusty outside and soft inside.

Asked for a table in the main dining area, but was told no without a reservation. After dinner - main area was still not full, so that part of the experience didnt leave a positive impression. We were seated in the front area which has a few tables, with a mix of people having drinks and a couple of tables ordering the full menu. Not specific to this restaurant, but in zurich they have to list the origin of some ingredients including meats and fish. This is helpful when ordering. The pork cordon bleu was really good and I would have that again. Minus a couple if stars for the slow service and unwillingness to seat us in main area despite it being pretty empty.

When I arrived, the staff was really friendly and accommodating to my English-only speech skills and even gave me an English menu. They had a special daily menu that included a veal roast... with a guy wheeling a cart around that served up the veal roast with mushroom sauce, carrots, and polenta. The decor was really nice and the food was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. I ordered the veggie salad, thinking it was a garden salad, but it was actually a yummy antipasto of cooked veggies, including pumpkin, artichokes, and slices of Parmesan cheese. To try something new, I got the pumpkin strudel as my main dish. It came in a lovely flaky pastry filled with ricotta cheese, and you could really taste the amaretto in the sauce. My friend got the meatballs with rosemary gravy and leek mashed potatoes. I tried one of the meatballs, and it was tender and juicy. Prices are typical for Zürich. Dinner for two, including starters, main dishes, shared bottle of water, and 4 glasses of red wine (French Syrah Cuvée 2008, Château Haut-Blanville, Côteaux du Languedoc) came out to CHF 125.

The problem is that this is mostly the "standard" of charging too much for nothing special. I do not recommend eating in any Swiss restaurant. Most of these places are empty, nobody there, few people, and you have to not care. The problem is Switzerland is like this and what I appreciate about Switzerland is that I have become a great cook when I am here. I could not pay for the dishes I prepare in a restaurant, and the best thing is that my dishes even look better. Satteltasche full with money is what you need here. You feel raped, guaranteed.

I ordered the spaghetti aargauerhof, thinking this has got to be some kind of signature dish if the restaurant name is the name of the dish! Although presentation was nice, and I appreciated the garish of fresh sprouts, the pasta was flavorless, and the veal was overcooked. Also, the pasta seemed to have a puddle of butter underneath. Spaghetti Aargauerhof, plus a small bottle of water put me back 25 CHF! Wow, if it were me paying, I would have grabbed a kebab at a near by take away shop and called it good. Thank goodness for work expensed meals :)

Aargauerhof is as consistently satisfying as the train system... and it's also Swiss... cuisine,…read morethat is. The food is both traditional and contemporary Swiss. Example: their known for their outstanding cordon bleu but I recently had a daily special of very well prepared cevapcici with bärlauch cream soup as a starter. The soup, however, tasted suspiciously similar to asparagus cream soup, especially since it happens to be 'Asparagus Week.' Every week, in fact, is a theme week with a special menu consisting of 5 or 6 creative specialties based on that theme. I saw burger week once but didn't get the opportunity to stop in. The first item on this week's theme menu was asparagus veloute with poached veal sweetbreads. It sounds pretentious, but as an appetizer, it's still only a measly CHF 9.90. And Aargauerhof is anything but pretentious. In fact, it is the self-proclaimed "In-Beiz." The regular menu is exhaustive, packed with almost the entire portfolio of classics: züri g'schnätzlets, beer-battered lake perch, fleischkäse with fried egg on top, hörnli mit gehacktem and apple sauce, and on and on. I especially appreciate the Swiss table condiments that are on every table, including Aromat and Maggi as well as a fresh pepper grinder! Never had a bad meal either. I do find the fact that they decorate every single plate with sprouts and a small Asian chili sort of odd since, as you can imagine, it doesn't always match very well... I mean, sprouts and a red Thai chili on a bowl of Hörnli mit gehacktem is sort of thoughtless. The standard half of a cherry tomato would also be as thoughtless, but would actually suit better in this case. Minor observation, however. The service is never bad but it's not award-winning either. The kitchen is positively swift though. The place looks very typical inside - lots of wood... and large windows on Langstrasse. Not super cozy or a place for romance but it's comfortable and warm. Prices are reasonable as well, since rent is probably a little more manageable in this area. Aargauerhof is definitely a place to think of for a good quality Swiss meal, be it lunch or dinner. In summer there is even plentiful seating on the sidewalk. The perfect place to watch the colorful passersby.
