Although the service was fine, the dining experience turned out to be all around pretty lackluster. The restaurant is on the smaller side and felt a bit claustrophobic with the low-rounded ceiling and few windows. The lighting was also really bright, in contrast to other restaurants which use dim/warm lighting for dinner service. I was seated at the corner of a long table and felt a bit pressed against the wall, as the bench on which I sat was fairly thin and there was only about a foot of space between the table and the wall (to my back). I don't know about the other menu items, but the price point was a bit high for fondue. Standard fondue is 24 CHF and fondue with morel mushrooms (morrilles) is a few CHF more. Curious, I decided to try the fondue with morels and paired it with a glass of white wine. The wine was good and the fondue tasted fine, but turns out there were barely any discernible morel crumbs in the fondue, far from being worth the upcharge. On top of that, the portion was very small and the bread was not fresh. I felt like I was caught in a tourist trap. I've dined at some other places in Lausanne that felt more comfortable and had better fondue. I'd probably stick with those next time I'm in town.

Great ambiance. Menu limited. We didn't try the fondue because you had to order it for two people, it looked like a lot of cheese and smelled really strong and was expensive (50 bucks for a pot of cheese and some bread), but I guess that is just Switzerland in general, expensive. Service was pretty good, waitress spoke no English. Salad was decent and the cabbage that came with the very chewy meat was good. The meat itself, well, it wasn't so great. Bad cut I'm guessing, I mean the flavor was good but it was so chewy I wound up spitting most of it out. And I really chewed a long time! Glad I went to at least get the experience of old school Switzerland, but would not go back. Ok maybe for a beer and a side of the cabbage! Beer was good!

Couple minutes away from Pully, this Swiss restaurant literally blew our mind with a surprising…read moretasty meal. This restaurant is also known apparently for their Fondue and Raclette during Dinner time. Atmosphere 4/5: The restaurant is the average Swiss restaurant you'll find a little bit everywhere in terms of atmosphere. The venue is separated in 3 different section, a bistro-bar, a lunch and a dinner section. Since the restaurant serves Fondue and Raclette, you might be seating in different area due to the odor that this kind of food has. We went there for lunch and had a perfect table on Monday during Easter week-end. Food 4/5: I have to say that the food was really good. I didn't expect that in this restaurant. I have to give a 4/5 nevertheless for the food because I am just not a big fan of restaurant who choose to not be original. For example, the salad dressing wasn't homemade. When you pay a 38CHF Filet de Perches sur Plat, you expect a little bit more effort in the food preparation and not choose the easy route by offering the usual white french dressing sauce you can find anywhere. But beside that, the Filet de Perche were exquisite and perfectly done. Just so you know, the Filets de Perche Meunière are quiet oily so don't go for it if you can't handle it. The steak de coeval was good but make sure to have it with a side sauce or it might be a little bit dry. But the best of the best was the homemade dessert! A strawberry pie! It was DELICIOUS! Service 4/5: Good service. The waiter was always making sure we have everything we wanted and was really friendly with us. NB: Don't forget to call to reserve your table on special occasion, it might be a little bit busy if you're planning to come with a party of +4 people.

At that point I had enough, ask for the bill....I had to pay full price! Did not even got a free coffee! On the top of that I am a visitor at the hotel where the wifi is really bad, bathroom is very old and small, rooms very noisy as the hotel is on a main street. Not a place to go back to, or to advise!

We've been to two others on a trip here (Cafe Grütli and Pinte Besson), so we wanted to try somewhere new to us. We were warned service here was not great, but we found the opposite - it was friendly and efficient. While the fondue didn't have the sharpness or tang of the other two we've tried (must be the mix of cheese here), we actually liked that it was a bit more mild. However overall we preferred the other two a bit more. The potatoes, cornichons, and onions we ordered to go with it are necessary for completing the fondue experience, as bread alone gets boring. Had a bottle of local wine to round out the meal and left very happy that this was the start to our new lives in Switzerland! Will be back!

Where Mum and Dad met!!!…read more Dad was the Chef and mum a waitress! Such a not-to-be-missed institution in Lausanne ... not me the restaurant of course! A place dear to me indeed, but the locals have been going there for decades to enjoy authentic local cuisine and his unique atmosphere. The venue has not lost its charm. Don't miss it if you enjoy going where the locals meet and don't mind coming out smelling of cheese fondue. It is a very lively yet warmly cozy and welcoming venue staffed with true professionals. Half-half cheese fondue is not the only option to choose from. A great choice is the Vaudois specialties called ¨Papet vaudois¨ - a dry smoked sausage filled with cabbage and served over leeks and potatoes - very suited for cold months. A more summery dish would be the 'Filets de perche meunière', Perch fillets (hopefully from the Geneva lake) served with a parsley butter sauce, some tartar sauce and French fries. Hope you will like it as much as we do in Lausanne.

Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? The service at Restaurant de l'Eveché was fine - the orders came out quickly, and everyone was very friendly. Having said that, the smell in Restaurant de l'Eveche is pretty overpowering, and it doesn't go away even if you're there for quite some time. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? Restaurant de l'Eveche is expensive. Full stop. We had tiny little side salads, some bread, and a pot of cheese and it ran a staggering 36,00 CHF. Maybe that's normal for high end fondue, but it seemed unreasonable. No Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? I was honestly just not a fan of any of this. The salad and bread were standard, and both types of cheese just weren't doing it for me full stop. No Stars. Star 5: Would you be excited to go back? Again, maybe I'm just not a fondue guy, but I've been to other spots that mix it up enough to hold my interest. Restaurant de l'Eveche didn't. No Star.
