I've been a loyal customer for the past 8 years, but the quality and service at this location have declined drastically. Every time I need basic staples like chicken or ground beef, I have to call ahead just to see if they're in stock -- and even then, I'm told they have plenty, only to arrive and find empty shelves. I drive all the way from Imperial Beach, only to be met with frustration. When I ask staff to help bring out the items they just told me were available, I'm told they "don't get paid enough" to assist customers. That level of apathy is unacceptable. The produce section is another disaster. Most of the time, the fruits and vegetables are clearly spoiled, yet they're still put out on display as if they're fresh. It's not just a bad batch here and there -- it's consistent. It's incredibly disappointing to see a store I've supported for years fall apart due to lazy staff and poor management. They seriously need to step up before they lose more loyal customers. read more

My brother took here to buy some lobster and it sure did not disappoint!! Great prices, fresh seafood! They sell a lot of stuff here but I didn't really get to browse through the store. Make sure to wear a jacket and shoes cause the freezer sure is cold!!! read more

Note: Open to the public for now! Once I found out they were open to the public I knew this was my one and only chance to price check what I was looking for. This place is huge! I made a B-Line to the frozen section.... nope... nope... Eww... 20lb of breaded frozen chicken nuggets... you mean these restaurants don't make those fresh.. LoL... next.. uh oh... I see fish... calamari... Luke warm... shrimp.. warmer ..grabbed a few packs.... and then...... there they are... in all their Glory.... 10lb box of King Crab legs!!! .... **checks price ***... I smiled... my Daughter rolled her eyes... I thought to myself. "What else are we supposed to buy with our stimulus check??" Must have a resale permit. Primarily focused on small food stores and trucks. Fantastic for bulk purchases of escargot plus good frozen and fresh seafood. The desserts are excellent especially the Tiramisu. read more

I'm very pleased with the service s of staff Courteous and willing to go above and beyond in case of an emergency I asked staff to see if there were any pre and she happily checked and saw there were 11 left but she had to leave her cashiers station and check. She came back and wasn't able to find anyone In the area, I said thanks don't worry about it She then she asked me to wait and she went to her mgr to ask mgr referred me to other locations. His cashiers said there were 11 more but no one was there. He said no worries at all I'd be happy to go back myself and check. He came back only with 2 and I was happy to take those. I commend him for going above and beyond as any mgr should be he also did it with grace and smile. read more

We've shopped at Restaurant Depot on Cesar Chavez before, but this is our first time at this location. This one is brighter, neater and better organized than the one on Cesar Chavez. Member-only. Members can currently bring only one guest into the warehouse. Ample parking. Great deli selection -- both meat and cheeses. Alcohol sales require an ABC license. This is a working warehouse. Mind the pallet movers scooting around the aisles. read more

Rude staff. I called prior to coming in to make sure I had the necessary documentation required. Showed up at 5:30 with what I was told to bring. Woman at desk told me I had 10 mins because they close at 6 and she needed to take her break. She then proceeded to tell me I don't have the correct forms and was more concerned with finding out who I spoke to than actually helping me. No thanks. I come here for the boxes, smart & final doesn't have the same size boxes as Restaurant depot and I come here for my baked goods boxes. You can get 100 cake boxes for $30, it's a steal! What bothers me about this place, however, is that there's canned foods, makes you wonder which restaurants buy them instead of making them fresh themselves. They shouldn't have access to that, if you're going to own a restaurant, please make your own food. read more

This place is awesome. Their prices are amazing and even way cheaper than Business Costco. I shop here a lot on a weekly basis for all the supplies that are needed for the church I attend and also for the events we sponsor. This place has everything you need and very reasonable. I highly recommend this place to anyone who has to buy supplies in big quantities. The employees that work there are very helpful as well. Check it out you will be glad you did. read more

As with most warehouses that cater to restaurateurs, I can get in and out quickly. No fuss. No muss. But even among other Restaurant Depot warehouses, this one stands above. I have yet to run into any crankiness or any employees that have not been helpful. Even the non-customer facing employees are courteous and helpful. Their equipment coordinator / sales guy is especially personable. If you need commercial kitchen equipment, definitely stop in and talk to him. He spent quite a bit of time with my business partner and I to review the various brands and levels of equipment to find options that met our space and budget requirements. While some items are priced comparably to Business Costco, others are lower, and some are unique. If Restaurant Depot didn't carry the unique items we need on a regular basis, I'd have to mail order. read more

CUSTOMER SERVICE- 1 STAR All of the cashiers don't care about efficiency.. They're slow and they don't care about taking their time. Sometimes only 1 or 2 lines will be open with a line building when there are quite a few employees milling around. I don't know why they all seem to have to trade around this ONE key to complete a transaction or have their manager come to approve it... The whole process of checking out is completely inefficient. Computer system is old. If a return needs to be done, you have to go to the customer service section in the front but get your money at the cashiers...which takes a while.. CLEANLINESS- 2 STARS Can be disorganized..sometimes when I'm looking for a product, I see that the signs (or the products?) are switched around. Doesn't feel clean at all, from the racks to put your products to the racks you purchase your products from. INVENTORY- 5 STARS The one thing going for them is that they do have a lot of product. They seem to carry about everything you need, but they definitely need a better directory system. PRICING- 3 STARS Some items can be cheaper, but for the most part the products are all more expensive than other places such as Walmart or Costco.. Can't imagine why it is more expensive even though you are buying in bulk for some of the items.. PARKING- 5 STARS Large parking lot, never any issues. OVERALL IMPRESSION Maybe if you have time to wait in their lines... Or if they're the only place that carries everything you need... But from what I see, you're much better off going to Costco. read more

The costco for professional chefs and restaurant owners. It goes one step further than costco as far as membership, you actually need a resellers license to get in and buy stuff. The general public would be amazed at how cheap wholesale foods and supplies are . Too bad its not open to the public. read more

Hands down, the best prices in town! But only can come here with a restaurant owner. The seafood is one of the best prices i've seen. Even beats some of the Asian markets out there. First time we bought rice cooker. Using for 3 days and it broke. Try to return. They said we have only two days to return. Wow what a customer service they provide. Second time we experience the worst customer services. Long lines during a check out. Their employee don't know how to count. It took 3 people 25 minutes to count 54 items during a check out. Supervisor work like she doesn't care. Count it again! Plus they don't care how long customers are waiting. Pretty sure this is a management issue for not select good employees and improve check out process. Suggestion. - hire a smarter manager - fire a lazy supervisor - hire employee who can count - create fast line for 15 items or less check out. read more

Terrible customer service at the front starting from management. The only employees that are nice and helpful are the ones in the freezers. Cashiers are always grumpy and they don't even say hi. NO MANNERS! But today was the worst! My cashier was literally PISSED that I was buying a lot of things and that she had to scan them. Sorry that you couldn't just get paid and look pretty...maybe find a job at a makeup counter? News flash...cashiers have to scan things. I am doing my job too. No I didn't come in and buy a bunch of things to make your life miserable. It was my job to get what's on my list. Shouldn't employees and managers be happy people are buying from the store? Why do they always get upset? It happens everytime but her attitude today was too much. She LITERALLY started throwing my things, including the fruit, on the register. Then they were all mad I needed another car. The manager was more upset that she had to help the employee with an attitude than by the fact that she was being a b**** to a customer. They were fighting because I needed another cart. To top it off I'm leaving with 2 heavy carts over loaded and no one helped, said thank, anything!
