on a rainy day in May, my mom and i were leaving Chaumont sur Loire castle and needed some lunch. the red patio covering and lights beckoned as we came down the hill. they looked so inviting.
we were greeted by a very nice lady who explained that they didn't have room inside, but we could eat on the patio. we were hesitant due to the frequent downpours of rain and how cold it was, but the pizza menu looked amazing. i'm really happy we stayed as the pizza was so so so good, i could have eaten two whole pies! we contemplated going back for dinner it was that tasty!
we split a pizza and the restaurant normally doesn't allow that but she explained that they would charge us 2 euros for the service. she was so apologetic about it, but it was no problem. at least it wasn't like Italy and they were charging us to just sit down at the table!
they also wouldn't put one ingredient on half of the pizza so we just had it removed. no big deal. i don't really think i wanted egg on my pizza anyway!
just be warned that they don't speak much English (i was asked to translate for another patron) and the bathroom light is on a timer.
everything from the staff to the interior and outside decor to the enclosed patio to the food to the overall ambiance worked. this place is a gem! read more
