What a nice little discovery in the countryside. The GPS literally guided me through farmland,…read morearound tractors, dodging cows, to get to this quaint restaurant. Though I came on a dark, winter night, I think one would be well-served to take advantage of their outdoor patio to take in the beautiful vistas of the Swiss countryside.
There is an extensive wine list, but I like to go local, so I chose a good white merlot from the south of Switzerland, which surprisingly had a lot of complexity.
The amuse bouche was a generous small, grilled filet of salmon, very well seasoned, with creamed leeks.
I started with the mussel soup, served with copious strands of saffron in a dainty bowl, but they leave a small pitcher of the delicious, creamy broth. I think lemon juice was used to give it the right amount of acidity.
The local striped perch, similar to a trout, was nicely sautéed with a paprika, curry sauce. I loved the buttery, sautéed vegetables.
The Forst would be hard to pass up if you're in the area.
