Scania Bar - Kimchi Fries-so good & great for sharing!

We arrived around 6:00 & all of the regular tables were taken (or reserved) so we took a high top in the back. They have a good selection of mixed drinks & beer & given they are known for their Tequila drinks we went with the Elderflower Mangria. A bit tart, some sweet and all excellent! We ordered the Beef (Yaki Niku), Pork (Al Pastor), Chicken (Dak Bulgogi) & Jackfruit Tacos. All were very good with a nice balance of spicy from the peppers and sweet & tangy pickled onions along with the tender/marinated meats. Beef was the best & Pork/Jackfruit are tied for second. The portion is decent and two are enough unless you are really hungry. We wanted the Kimchi fries but they weren't available on this Taco Tuesday unfortunately. We ordered the regular fries & they were ok. I would check to see what's being served at dinner before making the trip The ladies serving & at the bar were friendly & service minded. That said, a bit stretched as they were doing it all except making the food so at times service was a little slow. Overall, the restaurant/bar is cozy & I was skeptical about Korean/Mexican fusion but they are making it work! A hidden gem & I'm looking forward to returning to try lunch & other entrees. .

They have this concept of Mexican Korean fusion which might prompt a proper "WHUT?" from you, but to tell you honestly - it works. Sure, it might not be the real thing, whether it's Mexican or Korean, but they're tasty stuff and I'd be happy to eat bibimbap with yakiniku beef (that's my favourite, btw) for lunch (slightly better deal than dinner, imho) with a margarita on the side. Food is food, and what's good is good. Service is always friendly and you can get a salad and free coffee / tea on the side, that is if you don't want margarita or the refreshing lagerita (recommended!), or maybe you're just being greedy :P Do check their opening hours and days though because it seems that they were closed for lunch service in weekend or something like that.

However I was a bit disappointed because the portions were quite small and the side dishes were not that interesting. We had the bulgogi dinner set and for some reason it didn't include soup? The waitress also forgot to bring the noodles I had ordered. It was nice to try a different restaurant but this one won't become one of my favourites.

I went to the restaurant with my friend (both of us equally excited about trying out authentic Korean food for the first time) after several weeks of planning. The restaurant is located right by the theatre "Det Ny Teater" on Vesterbrogade 42. It's easy to locate and has a bus stop less than a minute's walk away. We were welcomed and at the desk and brought to a table in a cosy corner by the bathroom. There is a "girl" peeking through the window so don't be surprised! The menu was given out and we both ordered the "Happy Vegan" dinner course with the organic elderflower juice (I think they ended up serving us the lemonade. The receipt also indicated that. However, we told them about the mistake and paid for the juice). The drinks and side dishes came first. The drinks tasted good and were mild. The side dishes consisted of five small bowls: cooked zucchini, pickled zucchini, spicy boiled potatoes, kimchi, and an omelette. None of the side dishes tasted particularly hot. We were then served our "Seaweed, 5 seed & avocado". The set was a plate had about 5-6 seaweed on it with wasabi paste and a mix of 5 seeds (in a semi-paste form). Next to that was thinly sliced cucumber, peppers (red, yellow, green), pickled carrots??, and avocado. The dish was also served with soy sauce. The waiter explained how to eat the dish and we had fun mixing the fillings. The side dishes and sliced veggies complemented each other well. Afterwards, we were served a small Mung Bean Pancake. The pancake was about 10cm/4inch in diameter. Slightly disappointed about that. It tasted good, though, and had a thin slice of chilli? and greens on it. It was served with its own dipping sauce. I couldn't recognise it. We took our time with the appetisers and eventually were served the main course. The main course was a hot stone Bibimbap. It was served with a red paste. The bibimbap had a base of rice and was topped with the same veggies as the appetiser plus an egg yolk and cooked onions. The star of the show was very comforting. I decided not to mix in the entire paste in as it was slightly too hot for me. It was quite interesting to cook and eat your food at the same time. Be careful of the bowl, though, as it's quite hot in the beginning. Finally, we were given the choice between Lotus tea and coffee. We both chose the tea. The dessert of the day was ice cream. They had either vegan or normal ice cream and we chose the latter. The tea tasted literally like the essence of baked potatoes (a very good potato). It was weird but pretty good. The waitress offered to refill the pitcher with hot water if needed. The waitress described the process of making the ice cream: The chef discovered that beating the rice in water for two hours then extracting that water and mixing it with cream would make a good ice cream. She wasn't wrong. The dessert was amazing and the crushed salted sesame seeds on top balanced the dish well. The restaurant has a very cosy and warm interior. There are BBQ tables and normal tables spread out. The bathroom is amusing yet relaxing. The female bathroom has two "rooms". There is one with a tall ceiling and one with a shorter one. The flooring is checkered and there are towels to dry off your hands with. And incense! And a small candle! (I like it when people have an attention to details, ok?) The bad: 1. We were only served one set of 5 side dishes although the menu stated 5 side dishes per order. In their defence, we did not order or ask for the second set. 2. The Mung Bean pancake was too small. 3. The bibimbap could have benefited greatly with a vegan/vegetarian protein besides the yolk. 4. More ice cream! --- The good: 1. The waiter and waitresses were all super kind. They all explained the dishes and the methods to eat them. 2. The food tasted very good and REAL. I had almost forgotten the taste of non-frozen & un-canned produce here in Copenhagen. 3. The three-course meal was set up and planned very well. There was a great balance between each dish and a good transaction. 4. Being surrounded by an all Korean staff (minus one) and some Korean customers was such a great experience. All in all my friend and I had a great first experience at Korean cuisine and will definitely come back for more.

Ramen bowls were overly salty, and chicken karaage was hard like a rock that we couldn't eat. Definitely not authentic and extremely overpriced. She tried to put some lemon in it but some sugar prob would have worked. The ramen I had was excellent. Though a little too salty. All the ingredients were very tasty. For me, this is like 3 meals in one sitting., I ate as much as I could, but I asked the waitress if I could have a container to bring the rest home. I wouldn't think this should be a problem to take your leftover food that you paid for with you, and open up a seat for someone in queue waiting to come in to get a meal. She said she had to ask the chef if I can take a container, and then she asked the chef right in front of me. He looked right at me blankly, and told her no after looking at me. I have to say that was not very nice service. To look right at my face and decide that I'm not to bring my leftovers with me., and just waste all of it. While I can see a stack of leftover containers in the kitchen right from my seat. That was just a shame because more than half of my food was left over. I have a small stomach and I can't eat all this one sitting! Wish I could! I thought I would just eat the rest of it later in the evening. But the chef said no container for you. I tried to eat a little more of it but had to leave a lot of it behind. How wasteful! That really bummed me out when he said no, as I tried to force a few more bites. I wanted to thank him for the meal because it was so delicious, but I was so irritated at that point every time I look at him. To me that was a big strike even if your food is good. I don't think I would go back there again. The waitress was friendly though. I do understand why you don't allow takeout since the art of the bowl would be compromised while walking or biking, I do think when someone has more than half of their food left over you could be gracious to give them a container to put it in. So that was really wasteful and I don't think I would come back here again but if you're very hungry and you can eat a lot of food get there early so you can get a seat otherwise it's a 40 minute wait outside in line on the street, and a very small location with no bathroom. The food was very good. The chef's rude temperment and the leftover container policy needs work.

After ordering a bunch of items this is what our impressions were of these specific dishes: Oli gogi sauce is really good. Perfect fitting with the meat. The meat was not too special but the sauce made the difference. Song eo: not expecting fish in this dish from the description but not fishy in taste at all. Actually very delicious and the fish eggs and sauce with vegetables are the perfect pairing. Mandu: just ok. Something I've had before. More on salty side with sauce Gao bao: delicious and nice mixture. Reminds me of when you eat crispy duck at a Chinese restaurant except this is with pork belly. I like the addition of swedish pickle inside as well Yangnyeom tongdak:. I've had Korean fried chicken many times and I would say this is not something I would come back for. It was over gratuitously slathered over with the gochujang sauce which was really salty and spicy. I feel it would have been better on the side. Nice to be given the hand wipes to clean up. Beef Gangnam style: similar to what we usually get but the difference we noticed is the meat here is grilled then placed with sauce on top where we usually have the meat marinated in the sauce and then cooked. Pieces were deliciously cooked medium. Banchan: disappointed but truthfully because when we get them at home there are more varieties such as sweet potatoes or fish cakes. Was hoping to see some of those here. Ambience:. We came here in National Sweden day and it was raining intermittently that night but we still decided to sit outdoors under the awning and was able to enjoy being outdoors and the fresh feeling of rain with a heat lamp. The waitress was nice and attentive and the experience was definitely nice. Overall I give this place a 4 stars just because the yangnyeom tangdok was just way too salty and wished we were given the choice to use the sauce ourselves. My favorite dishes was the oli gogi and song eo and I can see if these were the only dishes I ate this place hands down would have been a 5 star.

There are certain benefits for having low expectations when going to a new place…read more You're saved from disappointment early on, and that you could be pleasantly surprised when the food turned out to be good. Mina K and I didn't have much expectation to begin with. We know the owner of this restaurant is a Swedish Master Chef winner, so she must know how to cook, but she's Swedish (despite her Asian roots) and that the restaurant declared itself as fusion Korean food and I'm not too trusting at the word "fusion" these days when it comes to food. We booked a table and got our seating at the Busan dining room (floor seating). Do book for western-style chair and table dining room if you're not used to sitting down on the floor for eating, you don't want to leave the restaurant with your legs feeling dead. We ordered Korean style beef tartar and gaobao (gua bao?) for appetizers and Rygbiff Gangnam style (that comes with banchan and rice - pretty good deal since the banchan set itself costs 125 kr without rice) that is for two people. I'm not an expert in Korean food, but Mina K is and she was pleasantly surprised on how the food tasted pretty authentic despite the fusion labelling. All I know was that the beef tartar tasted good and the gaobao? Much better than the baos I had in Copenhagen. The buns were small but the filling (marinated pork belly) was to die for! We didn't have to wait long until our main course arrived - the Gangnam style beef, with the banchan. The meat was cooked perfectly with pink colour on the inside and was very tasty. You eat it by wrapping it in lettuce and put the banchan ingredients on it, don't forget to top it with gochujang hot sauce and stuff the whole package in your mouth. We were definitely surprised on how great the food was. The service was pleasant as well. The waitress was attentive and friendly and chatted with us for awhile about the steel chopsticks used that could be quite a challenge for people who are not accustomed to using these kind of chopsticks. A downside is that this place could get little pricey here on the side of Øresund, but it's in Swedish kroner (ha!) and that the restaurant itself has nice decor so you could take your date, your friends or your colleagues here even for work dinner. I'm definitely going to come back and try out other stuff in the menu although a lot of them are with poultry (chicken, duck) that I don't eat, but do ask for vegetarian / vegan option, they offer tofu fillings for some of their items and this being a Swedish restaurant, they usually cater to the vegetarians.

Kopan seems to have given the greatest push this year with their food cart serving sweet and savoury pancakes. Their old name, seed hoddeok, refers to deep-fried dough which is flattened and opened to make a pocket, then stuffed with seeds and honey/brown sugar. I tried a sample of it and the dough is tender and slightly chewy inside with a nice crispy crust. I ordered rice cakes mixed with fish cakes (tteokbokki) for 45kr and the rice cakes were especially good with a slight crisp on the outside. They were only a little spicy to me, but tasted great. It is a small but very filling dish as the rice cakes are very compact. I also got a marinated grilled beef (bulgogi) pancake for 50kr. It was very morseish with onions and potato starch noodles (japchae) and the freshly fried dough was even better than the sample of the seed pancake. This is a great place to stop by when you need a substantial snack or just want to try some authentic Korean street food.
