Dr. Restani and staff are excellent. This is clearly an office who deeply care about birds. He took his time with us (the "parents") and with our recently-rehomed 2-year-old caique, was clear and thorough. There were some abnormal lab results; rather than just dismiss them or immediately recommend retesting, he took the time to consult with an avian pathologist, and delivered some happy news to us this morning. Bottom line: Dr. Restani is a sensible, compassionate and caring, trustworthy guy. I feel relieved that he's our bird's vet. read more

I was not a person who favored dogs as much as cats, however, my life took on a different path recently when I got a puppy named Tiny. This is all new to me because dogs seem to need more attention when it comes to vets and so it was more o a ware on my mental so was nervous. When I was referred to the Restani-Fatima Veterinarian Clinic by a friend and made an appointment . There I was Helped by Dana who made sure that I knew about everything that was happening and needed for future visits every step of the way. I was so comfortable and this wasn't just a regular visit due to finding out that my puppy had digested something serious that could have become problematic down the line and she made sure that I had every option mentionable to insure my little man was going to be alright. For a person who didn't really do Vets due to it seeing like it was more about money I never got this feeling from Dana. I could tell she genuinely cared for my boo. The facility is nothing to write home about but what counts is how you and your pet are treated. It's easy to schedule an appointment and everyone is friendly and helpful. Dr Restani was thorough and quite caring about my cockatiel. He handled both of us very well! I was really upset at the reaction my boy had to two shots but I was reassured that it was normal from the stress and given details about what could happen afterward. When I needed to swap out meds, they accommodated me right away. They even followed up with me the next morning to see how Rocky was doing! The waiting area is small and can be quite hectic. I recommend a morning appointment so you don't get caught in a backlog of appointments. I hope I don't need to see them again but if the occasion arises, I wouldn't hesitate to go back. read more

Especially my Mochi, who is normally skittish and difficult to tame, was surprisingly fine around them. Doctors were really nice and provided great advice. I felt the exams were reasonably priced. I had a family emergency and needed to travel to the East Coast but had to urgently board 2 cats ; 1 of whom needed his vaccinations updated. I called ALL over town- no luck until another office recommended this one. I was in tears and the gentleman who answered the phone told me that if I was willing to go through a wait we could be seen that afternoon. So I waited... and finally the nurse came out and took my cats in to be seen . As she brought my second kitty out ( I wish I had gotten her name) she pointed out Dr. Noah leaving- he still had his stethoscope in his hand! I boarded my cats without further ado and flew home that next morning. Well, I can't guarantee you the experience that I had with Skyline Veterinarian, but I can tell you that this is why this clinic is the one I chose to list as the caregiver for my fur babies . read more

DO NOT BRING YOUR GUINEA PIG HERE. I messed up. The emergency vet nearby had little to no experience with guinea pigs. I started making calls to all the nearby vets. I called in this location and they said they specialize in guinea pigs. I was DESPERATE so I took my guinea pig in, they asked me for my ID number (like whut?). The vet was so rough with her. It seem like he didn't know how to properly hold a guinea pig...she was SO scared that she shredded A LOT. She was diagnosed with pneumonia. The vet gave her some antibiotics shot ($24 dollars??) and recommended me to feed her gatorade and yogurt. (like okay..wtf???) Whatever, I wanted to save my 3 month old guinea pig. So, the vet gave her a shot and we also fed her yogurt and gatorade along with the Baytril (a type of antibiotic). I was charged $90 for the overall visit. She looked like she was recovering day by day but 4 days later, she passed away. Also, 2-3 days before she passed away I called the vet place and asked them some questions about my guinea pig condition. They promised to get back to me, the front desk lady wasn't very nice either. They NEVER got back to me. It is just annoying that they claim that they specialize in guinea pigs but cannot even hold on to my guinea pig properly. I am mad at myself for not catching all these problems. All I wanted was my guinea pig to recover...but she left me. read more

When my conure started to show signs of sickness, I spent days looking for a vet. There were very common qualities in all the vets nearby: they didn't know much about birds, they charge an arm and a leg, and they lack any compassion for the animals. Every single vet seemed to only care about money... That is NOT the case with Dr. Restani! He is naturally so easy-going that any anxiety I had about him was gone the moment he started taking a look at my conure, Baby. Baby is nervous around new people so he flew off a few times, was screaming and gnawed on Restani's fingers trying to get out of the hold. Despite all of the fuss, Restani kept calm and did not use any excessive force at all! He clearly knew what he was doing. After Baby's second visit, he was much more comfortable being examined and behaved very well. Dr. Restani will not pressure you into any extra medications or tests that your pet doesn't need. He recommended many ways I can help Baby get better with items I can get on my own/may already have. The bill shocked me not because it was expensive, but because it was affordable! The small place runs on a lot of old-school technology, but it gets the job done and when the vet genuinely cares for the well-being of my pet, there's really nothing else I can ask for. It's worth the drive into the city. Also, shout out to the women at the desk because they're always friendly beyond belief! A little note, I recommend you pay with card. They don't carry much cash at all and will be unable to give you change. If you'd like, you can use the change as credit toward the next visit. read more

I must be more than stupid. Our hamster died under his care, then he couldn't solve our rabbit's problem with losing his fur and now my Guinea pig dies. Our Guinea pig survives the anesthesia for the access draining but on day 3 of the antibiotics, he stopped eating. I did everything I could to save him. They wouldn't even take him yesterday because they were too busy. I was supposed to take him in this morning. He died in the middle of the night. I've read that antibiotics can do more harm than good for Guinea pigs. Restani had him on two antibiotics twice a day plus a solution to flush out the wound twice a day. Bottom line is, these vets don't put much effort into helping with "pocket pets" as he calls them. They treat them as if they're disposable. Only dogs and cats matter to them. I wasn't going to take my Guinea pig to him because he had failed me twice in the past, but he was the 10th pet hospital I had called. All the others that supposedly serve exotic pets were either too busy, closed for vacation, didn't have the special vet available right now, no longer had an exotic pet vet on staff....so like an idiot I went back to this vet who basically poisoned my Guinea pig with his strong antibiotics. And the lady who works with him also said she mixed one of the bad tasting meds with piña colada mix to make it taste better. I don't think that can be healthy for their delicate gut. They were too busy to take me yesterday but not too busy to take my $425 to drain his abscess. NEVER AGAIN WOULD I RETURN HERE. read more

Let me start this review by saying this is not a fancy pet hospital by any means. The staff is accommodating, kind and tries to get everyone in as quickly as possible. The prices are very reasonable. I have been here twice now for basic exams and health certificates for pets who are flying and Dr. Restani is always kind, caring, and he handles the animals well. During our most recent visit, I brought in our Standard Poodle just for an exam and certificate. Dr. Restani noticed that his ears had a mild infection due to the hair not being plucked (something common with the breed). He plucked the hair out of his ears, put a little antibiotics in there, and them sent me on my way. **He did not charge me for the ear plucking which most vets charge $20 - $40 for. I would not come here for major medical treatment as they really aren't set up for that, but I 100% trust Dr. Restani and his team with preventative and routine pet care. read more

On Wednesday August 25, 2021, I took my dog Lucero for a teeth cleaning at the Restani- Fatima veterinary hospital, located at 1570 Bryant Street, Daly City California 94015. I took her at 9am and at 10am the doctor called me, just to tell me that my dog had died, that according to him, she had not withstood the anesthesia, and that she died of cardiac arrest. That was his diagnosis, BUT I knew that could not be it, since my dog was in very good health. I know that she passed from an overdose with anesthesia, negligence and he killed her. I post this message so that other people are very careful not to go through what have gone through and avoid such great pain that I have not been able to overcome. I've sent him letters and he doesn't answer me, what's more, I haven't seen him since he killed my dog, all the answers are from his management. Be careful because it hurts a lot. read more

My husband and I took our bird Romeo who was diagnosed with cataracts in his right eye in 2012 by another vet. He was experiencing signs of discomfort and pain in his right eye by keeping it closed and scratching it constantly. Dr. Restani examined Romeo and told us he needed eye drops to apply to his effected eye. As soon as we started giving him the drops he improved dramatically. He seems more responsive and keeps his effected eye open longer. Dr Restani is a wonderful veterinarian. He knows his stuff. He is very reasonable with his pricing. I take both my guinea pigs to Dr. Restani and he's been a great help. Living in San Francisco, I haven't been able to find a small/exotic animal vet with a reasonable check-up price. So I took the 10 minute drive to Daly City. They have a small parking lot in the back, and ample street parking. I was able to book an appointment for the afternoon when I called that morning the same day. One of my guinea pigs was having trouble breathing, but my other piggy seemed fine. I took them both in just in case. Restani weighed and checked both guinea pigs but only charged me for one pig, since the other was healthy. He had the necessary medicine on hand and I was out the door in 30 minutes. He asked for daily progress reports and if his condition changes, we could tweak the medicine/dosage based on my progress reports. There would be no reason to bring him in again and spend more money on another check-up. My guinea pig's condition improved over the course the next week. Restani really is a straight-forward man who has your pet's best interest in mind. He's affordable, friendly, and knowledgable. read more

OK, so I'm writing this for my dad, he doesn't understand much of the internet let alone Yelp. And he feels the needs to do SOMETHING because he was so helpless in the face of doggie danger. What happened is this: My dad's english bulldog was feeling sick, he wasn't going to the bathroom right or some such. Our normal vet was closed so my dad headed to the nearest one. The vet said he had some virus of sorts, gave him some vaccines, and kept him for the day for observation that he'd be ok. That part alone would have gotten them stars. But that's not it. At the end of the day, at closing, after a FULL day of observation, my dad picks up the dog, puts him into the car and drives away. He looks back and sees the dog barely breathing, turned over onto his back. Dad rushes back to vet, they're closed, and so he goes to Banfield at petsmart. The vets at PetSmart put him on a ventilator and rush him to a full service emergency vet because he's had a reaction to the vaccinations given in the MORNING and he might die. After 3 days in emergency care, he pulled through and he's fine. But we all insist that this COULD have been noticed earlier (not stopped but at least noticed and addressed) had they actually been observing the dog. His face was swollen like a watermelon, he was wheezing and barely breathing. Our dog almost died and they barely took enough attention and care to apologize when we called later. We spent over a thousand dollars on his care afterwards but it was the lack of veterinary attention that shocked and hurt us the most. read more

Brought my new baby kitten here twice, but I no longer will be coming here.. The first time, my baby had a checkup and I asked Dr. Restani to check for everything including pests, he told me everything was A OK, but a month later, I found out he was covered in fleas! It got pretty bad, and I got some flea bites myself. I wish he checked that for me. Another thing is, I felt a bit rushed when my baby had his shots, it was like get in get out, no explanation. The receptionists that work in the front don't actually know much either. Someone also mentioned the office equipment being a bit old school, and I gotta agree with that. It's 2013, hello!!! Learn the new technology. I mean there are some good things too though... Like how you only pay for shots and no office fee every last Tuesday of the month. And Dr. Restani is a kind man.. Took my dog there because she had a large black growth on her leg. The dog was a rescue and was an adult, so we didn't know much about her past or how she might have gotten it. We wanted to know what the growth was and if we should worry. I called this vet because he was the closest to our house. Got there and found an old, barely kept up '40s era office with none of the usual signs & flyers about pet care in the waiting room. I didn't have a good feeling about this. Being called in for the exam was no better. Steal exam table, not much else. Dr. Restani was nice enough, but examined the dog minimally and told me not to worry, it was just a "mole." It was thumb-sized! After feeling ripped off for the fee, we left. The up-shot was less than a few weeks later, the mole started to change. We took the dog to Pacifica Pet Hospital on Hwy 1 (who were terrific). They diagnosed our dog with cancer and did the 1st of a couple of surgeries. I only wish I had taken our beautiful dog there sooner. If they had removed the tumor before it started to change, they could have probably saved her life. read more

I only chanced upon this Vet Hospital for an emergency concerning my two puppies. The night before we came here my puppies ingested rat poisons, we didn't know what to do, so the next morning I called several vet clinics, and no one would take them in. When I called this clinic, the very nice receptionist scheduled me right away to see Dr. Restani. We were seen and my puppies were given antidotes and were made to stay for observation. Dr. Restani was very straightforward and seem to be a very good doctor and really knows what he is doing. My puppies are doing good now. They are just two most amazing pups! I really like Dr. Restani and all his staff. Went to him when my really old Love Bird was failing. We made about three visits before my bird died, and each time we left he perked up and seemed happy. Dr. Restani was THE nicest doc I have met. He truly cares about the pets AND their owners. This is a review based on the staff and NOT the doctor. I am on a search for a vet for my baby Harlequin rabbit. I called this morning and the receptionist picks up (sounded like an older lady) and didn't sound welcoming at all. Maybe she was having a bad day? So, I just ignore her tone and just go about asking if Dr. Restani has experience with baby bunnies or just rabbits in general. Our conversation goes like this: recep: "Baby bunnies??" (as if she's never heard of it) me: "yes, baby rabbits." recep: "You'll have to call back at 3pm because he's not here, he's at lunch." **NOTE: I called at 12:07 pm...really? He's @lunch until 3???** me: "So I have to talk directly to him?" recep: "Yes." me: " So I have to call back at 3?" recep: "Yes." I was trying to be understanding by being nice to her because she didn't sound like she was having a good day. But after my convo with her, I felt irritated. How do you NOT know what the doctor (of the office that you're working in) specializes in?? Maybe she was new to the office? I don't know, but I know that I won't be calling back. STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!!!!!! Not only is this doctor a money grubbing thief but he is also a BUTCHER. He gave me an estimate for my pets treatment and I accepted. Later when I went back to pick up my pet, the bill was HUNDREDS of dollars higher. He refused to give me my pet back until I came up with the extra cash! 2days later my dog had a raging infection. I didn't feel comfortable going back to Restani so I went to the clinic and asked for my medical records to go to a new vet. HE REFUSED!! I glanced down at his hands and his nails were filthy. Like the hands of a homeless person. This is probably how my pet became infected. He threatened to call the police on me if I didn't leave. My boyfriend and I BEGGED for our pet's records. We couldn't afford to get duplicate procedures done at a new vet. Restani became loud and threatening towards us. We left empty handed. Our dog SUFFERED at the hands of this man. His reason for not giving us our records was because he felt we should bring our pet BACK to him. We borrowed money from our parents and brought our dog to an emergency clinic that night. They said the infection was too far gone. Our dog died at home before morning. I blame Restani for the death of my beloved dog. She was only 3. read more

Through with the breed discrimination, rude, over priced, over equipped vets in this town, I found Dr. Restani a breath of fresh air when my neighbor recommended 10 years ago. I like his conservative care, no nonsense method. He is never judgemental and I find his acceptance of my way of caring for my animals refreshing. This has encouraged me to take my animals to the vet more often. I now have to happy, more comfortable dogs living out there seniors years with their cat and a little western medicine. This vet is such a great one! Finding a avian veterinarian is so difficult in the Bay Area. I have been hesitant to bring my birds anywhere because of the yelp reviews some places have. When I took a risk with this doctor I realized he was great and gentle with my parakeets both of whom are untrained and bite. He has done everything from pedicures to wing clippings and kept my parakeets safe and taught me many things during my visit! I recommend this doctor because he isn't money driven, he actually cares about your pets. read more
