The ticket counter and ski/boot rental process was super easy. The prices were very reasonable. The beginner slope was perfect for my 5 year old. Cons: As many others have mentioned, the parking lot is atrocious. The bathroom stalls are so tiny and not very clean. The snack area (not the restaurant) was okay. Basic food options. Staff appeared to be unenthusiastic about being there. Also, I have only been to a handful of ski resorts in my life. However, the ski lifts do not have a safety bar on any of the lifts. I felt like I was holding on for dear life. The distance from the beginner slope to the far right ski lift was pretty far and exhausting to get to. Overall, it's nice to have a local spot to ski. And I would not mind trying the tubing. I am sure that people have complained about these things over the years like parking and bathrooms ... but I don't think this place really cares. I think they are more like "take us as we are"! So this place isn't fancy but it is what it is.

The cleanliness of the rooms was lacking. Appeared they may be doing updates but not 100% sure. Drywall dust and odd wood screws behind the bed/night stand. The high ceiling and natural light made the space feel large and welcoming. I was a little alarmed by the large totem pole in the corner of the building as it had some faces that seemed a little scary to me, but I don't think any of the kids even noticed. They even have a little "scavenger hunt" sheet so you can try to find all the different animals and figures carved into this tall structure. There is plenty of parking, although we ended up in the lot closer to the silos, which was a short walk to the building. (According to their website, this lot is actually now closed until the beginning of June.) The silos were a cool feature of the park, and they actually have rock climbing walls on them! I saw some kids climbing and tried it out for myself - unfortunately I definitely wasn't wearing the proper footwear, but it's something unique and cool that I haven't really seen at many other parks. There is a small play area here for kids. I'd love to come back again later this spring to check out the trail down to the Grand River. There's a canoe landing at the park which is great for summer. The whole park covers 240 acres! I'm sure there's lots of great wildlife spotting, so I'm looking forward to doing some birdwatching here soon.

This used to be Rico's Deli and it's in an office building, so a bit of a weird location but it's open to the public. We arrived around 10 am on a Sunday and it was completely empty and quiet. I think the original concept/idea was to have a place where you could either get grab and go items for a quick lunch, or get a sandwich or other meal quickly on a lunch break, without having to interact with anyone if you didn't want. We ordered on a tablet and then the person working brought our food out to us. There is seating in the atrium of the building which is just off the cafe area. I was surprised at the prices--I paid $9 for a breakfast box with scrambled eggs, potatoes, and choice of meat, and we also got the silver dollar sando for $6 (breakfast sandwich made with egg, cheese, and sausage on little pancakes). The amount of food I got in the breakfast box was crazy, especially for $9. I think it was 4 scrambled eggs, two large housemade sausage patties, and a good amount of potato. Everything was super hot, fresh, and well-seasoned. This hidden gem is worth seeking out! I'm definitely coming back to try some lunch next.
