    Curtis Lumber - Curtis Lumber

    Curtis Lumber

I live up the street from this place. Been many times. After every visit I vow to never go back…read more Then, years later out of convenience, I give it a shot. Same result every time. Just go to Home Depot, Lowe's, or Ace. (Side note: My favorite part is that "it's hard to simply buy lumber at Curtis Lumber". I'm sure they don't see the irony.)

During an extensive DIY home renovation, I hired a contractor to perform some major rebuild work,…read moreand he used Curtis for all supplies. The quality of the materials seems to surpass what I was buying from other major home stores for the areas of the house I had been renovating. Supplies from Curtis included a 600 square foot room rebuild, with all lumber, insulation, and roof trusses from Curtis, as well as new roof shingles and all the siding replaced. Recently, I have been completing my basement renovation and needed very specific custom windows to fit and meet egress. Curtis was able to custom order me these windows which I could not find elsewhere. I want to note that there was an issue with the window order not being correct when they arrived, but Curtis did the right thing and replaced them for me with the correct windows, even though they were custom built and could not be returned otherwise. Other reviews mention poor customer service, but they went beyond what I expected by replacing the windows, even though I had initially missed their error when I agreed to have them submit the purchase order.

An absolute spot to go to if you're an amateur DIY-er or a professional contractor if looking for…read morebarn wood, rustic, farm house style wood beams for the house or project of your dreams! When you find the location as per GPS, make sure to drive around the building, and pull in to the right of it. You will see an abundance of wood. The large entrance is opened during the hot summer months, I assume, and just a door during the cold season? You will fall in love with all the choices of wood slats, beams, boards, and planks that are stacked from floor to ceiling lengthwise. All various heights (even 11 feet high!), and widths. Some come pre-bundled, but, the best way to shop is to hand pick YOUR own piece of wood...It is YOUR project afterall! Price ranges from $4 - $7 a square foot. All colours from darks to light. All authentic wood from barns - watch out for some nails that may still be in some pieces. The gentleman that served me today is fully bilingual and very knowledgeable. No pressure sales here. Just legit advice and guidance - if you need/want it. Helps if you know your measurements, and what you have in mind, beforehand. TIP: bring your own measuring tape! Feel free to go upstairs to see the showroom - Note: at the time, it was just shelving and table ideas. The only thing left to the imagination is wondering the history of that wood you just purchased - it will most definitely have a charm of its own ;). If you get the chance, take a moment to see what creations have been made on the outside of the building on display, as inspiration of what wood can be transformed into! ....A shower head coming out of a beam of wood?!...What!? :D PS - Fully accepts cash, debit, credit cards, Apple Pay. PPS - Make sure you have a vehicle that can bring home the long wood !
