Family Logistics: My wife headed to the spa for some downtime while I took the kids to the pool, which worked out perfectly for everyone. Dining: We had dinner at catalina kitchen where I had a really good steak. Service: The staff was very pleasant, and everyone we encountered was nice. Room Accommodations: I'm rating this 4 stars instead of 5 due to the room layout. We booked for four people, but the initial room was so tiny that it couldn't comfortably fit all of us without one child sharing our bed. I ended up spending more money and upgrading to a suite to ensure we all had enough space and comfort. Comparison to Past Stays: I booked this same promotion a year ago and the room was much larger and easily slept two adults and two kids. I'm not sure what changed with the room assignments this time around, but the upgrade was necessary for our comfort. It did cost us extra $$. Overall, it was still a great way to treat my wife to a surprise while we all had some staycation fun.

I came here for their Super Bowl event (definitely a long overdue review), but it ended up being…read moresuch a fun experience. They did a really great job with the setup. Everything was set up around the pool with a beautiful ocean view, which already made it feel a little more elevated than your typical game day spot. They had a huge screen so you could enjoy the game from pretty much anywhere, and the overall vibe was just really chill and well put together. The food was buffet style with all the classic Super Bowl favorites, plus some really cute themed desserts. They even made desserts inspired by the teams playing, which was such a fun touch. I also loved how they set up the buffet stations; there were options in both the front and the back, so no matter where your table was, it was easy to grab food without walking all over the place. They also had a raffle going during commercial breaks, which was actually really fun and kept the energy up throughout the game. It made the whole experience feel more interactive instead of just sitting and watching. Your ticket covers unlimited food, which makes it easy to just relax and enjoy everything. Drinks were separate (they had an open bar option for an additional cost), but overall it felt worth it for the experience. It's a great option if you don't want to watch the Super Bowl at home but also don't want the chaos of a crowded bar. Perfect for going with friends or family; good food, great setup, and just an easy, fun time. I'd definitely go again if they host it next year

Where do I even start?…read more Surf & Sand Resort was everything I hoped it would be ... and more. We booked just one night on 3/21/26, and honestly, I'm already wishing it had been longer. From the moment we arrived to the very last second of our stay, the service was nothing short of phenomenal. Valet, check-in, room service, pool staff, etc. Every single person we encountered made us feel genuinely welcomed. A special shoutout to Splashes Restaurant. Their brunch was easily one of the best breakfasts I've had in a long time. And then... the room. Management graciously upgraded us to the penthouse, and I was completely speechless. The ocean views alone were unforgettable. To make it even more special, the room was beautifully set up with flower petals and candles everywhere. Tt felt incredibly romantic and thoughtful, and truly elevated our anniversary celebration. My wife's reaction was worth it all! My wife and I also treated ourselves to a spa day, and it was just as incredible. Lana was my therapist, and her hands were magic. I've had plenty of massage therapists in my life, but she has to be the best one yet. As a blue-collar worker, I carry a lot of tension, and she left me feeling amazing after our appointment. Lana, thank you as well! I truly can't thank the team enough for helping my wife and me celebrate our 2-year wedding anniversary in such a special way. This trip gave us a core memory we'll never forget. To everyone there, thank you. You were incredible. We'll definitely be back soon.

My room appeared to be next to what sounded like a utility or service room, and there was loud equipment noise running throughout the entire night. Sleeping was nearly impossible. I reached out to the hotel by both text and email after my stay and was told the matter would be looked into. It has now been over a week with no follow-up or resolution whatsoever. For the rates Surf & Sand charges, guests should not be placed in rooms with constant overnight noise issues, and concerns should certainly not be ignored afterward. Very disappointing experience from a hotel that presents itself as a luxury property.

Use a credit card to book your room, so you can use their quick check in line. Either way, make sure you take the exact card you use to book for checking in. Before you go, buy the discounted dining deal. You can only buy it in advance, and the food and drinks are pretty pricey, so you will spend $$$. I also suggest attaching your credit card to your wristband for convenience. We really enjoyed the pizza place onsite. We checked in on a Sunday and it was a bit crowded, but we managed to do it all in three hours. The kids loved the bunk bed, and my only complaint about our room is that the tub faucet leaked. The next day, we packed a bag with a change of clothes that we fit into a small locker for $12, and went back into the waterpark for a couple more hours. I recommend packing travel toiletries for a quick shower before leaving. They have plenty of showers, changing rooms, and a swimsuit dryer, but no toiletries in the waterpark bathrooms. Waterpark towels are provided and must be checked out and in or you'll be charged, so don't lose them. There's a water bottle refill station in the waterpark near the bathrooms. We didn't try many of the activities offered except for the arcade that offered packages starting at $35. Lastly, be sure to pay for parking before you leave. That was also $35. All in all, we got a deal on the room but spent more on food, drinks, games, and parking combined. My kids are 5 and 10, and they were able to go on just about everything that was open. One day was plenty of time if you don't plan on doing all of the activities.

I've been sick as a dog here and they didn't bother to refund the trip, even partially. The customer service here is extremely cold. They don't care at all about the condition you are in and don't offer any suggestions to keep you comfortable if you're sick. Also our room wasn't even ready after 4pm. Worst check in experience ever. Loud noise all through the night of kids screaming and running around. There was also a gas leak event that happened in garden grove that they didn't even alert us all about. Absolute negligence for the customer. Will NOT return and caution everyone who is looking to stay here, that they don't value the customer.

The moment I stepped into my room, I could smell the fresh lingering scent of linen, and dust was nowhere to be seen. The bathroom floors sparkled, and the marble was smooth and cool on my feet. Couldn't have slept any better than I did in this deluxe patio room. The view outside was magnificent, and my morning coffees tasted one hundred times better than any restaurant I've had. The teahouse restaurant was luxurious, with the most delicious jasmine tea and scrumptious blueberry scones. The chicken sandwich was served on a beautiful plate and tasted delectable. Deeply Disappointing Experience After Reopening…read more My husband and I were excited to finally try the newly reopened restaurant at Campos Ranch, especially after it being members-only for several years. Unfortunately, booking a table here turned out to be a regrettable decision. Shortly after we were seated, a table of approximately ten children--ranging from toddlers to early elementary age--was placed nearby with no adult supervision at the table. Their parents were seated separately and appeared completely disengaged from what was happening. The result was nonstop chaos: children jumping on chairs, rolling on the floor, fighting at the table, and shouting throughout the dining room. At no point did any parent intervene. To be clear, this is not about children being present. It's about adults failing to manage their children in a shared public space--and, more importantly, about restaurant management allowing this behavior to continue unchecked. It showed a profound lack of consideration for the other guests who, like us, paid full price for what is supposed to be a quality dining experience. What made this especially frustrating was the complete absence of intervention from staff or management. Allowing one table to completely disrupt the dining room is disrespectful to every other guest. A restaurant--particularly one positioning itself as an elevated destination--has a responsibility to set and enforce basic standards of conduct. Overall, the evening left us feeling that courtesy, consideration, and basic dining-room etiquette were not priorities here. I strongly encourage management to rethink how situations like this are handled, because no guest should have their experience ruined by unchecked behavior at another table.

I have had a membership here for 3 years and have loved coming to the hotel to utilize what the membership has to offer. One of the "offers" is that we are given a pool pass to use throughout the year and I thought we were able to bring guests, but I guess that's not the case. I called the front desk and was transferred to Elizabeth who was rude from the get go. I asked if I could use my pool pass for a family member and she said no - only you can use it and the pass is verified with a number on the back of the card. My card does not have this number, and she accused me of lying. She also was extremely unprofessional and said "I don't know what to tell you girlfriend" when I asked if there is anything she could do to help resolve the situation. I told her that I was excited to renew my $350 membership this year but now I will not be renewing because of her unsatisfactory service. Her response was extremely sarcastic saying "Thanks for your phone call!". I expected a lot more from this highly rated hotel. I will not be going back ever again, and people who live in The Colony or surrounding areas should take note of this.
