Okay so the review....This optician wasn't a "preferred network provider" on our insurance plan, but since we had a limited window of time to use optical benefits and they were able to squeeze us in for an appointment we followed a relative's recommendation (a long time customer) to try them anyway. I was impressed that although the place was pretty busy the doctor kept our appointments on time with no waiting and seemed very thorough and professional without rushing through my exam. My wife was equally impressed with his patience while working with her to update her more complicated RX for contacts and eyeglasses. Kristen (store manager) helped me pick out my frames and did the final fitting. She was especially helpful in having suggested a lens package tailored to my long hours at the computer. I had no idea these specially ground anti-glare lens (like bifocals made for computer use) would resolve the chronic headaches and eye strain, - but they have. Thanks again Ferguson Optical for working with us in finding glasses that are a good fit for our eyes as well as our wallet. We appreciated finding the perfect mix of skilled professionalism and friendly warmth in a locally owned family business. P.S. This is my first and only written review. All I wanted was to find an eye doc and staff that would help and listen. Finding a pair of glasses has always been difficult for me. This experience started off hopeful, but after I got my glasses it went downhill! I paid a WHOLE LOT of money for a pair of glasses that have been nothing but trouble and are now causing my vision to be worse. Each time I went back for an adjustment and / or expressed my concerns / worries in regards to how the glasses were working out for me, it always ended with "give it a little longer". On my final visit I was told my glasses were no longer under warranty. OF COURSE NOT! Yes, I accept my part in not knowing the exact date my warranty expired, but as mentioned, when I would go in for assistance I was trusting the experts. It became harder for me to express my concerns as I was now starting to feel very much like a number and once they got my money my concerns were not important enough to be heard. I chose, in consultation with Dr. Cohen, the Light Adjustable Lenses, and they were exactly the right choice for me. I will close by saying the store has an in-store lab and this attention to detail is so important especially for progressive lens and people with astigmatism. I have not had such well made glasses since I was making my own! They take most insurance and are an easy drive up to Alton, IL. At no time did I feel rushed or the slightest pressure to "buy up". Kaitlyn simply let Clarkson's wide variety of frame styles and colors, quality and value speak for themselves. In the end I bought 2, including a top tier designer pair of eye glasses. So I found Overland on Yelp and realized I had driven by it a zillion times without even realizing it. The staff are very friendly and prompt. They usemore advanced equipment than the other place, too. Dr. Lueckenhoff is great. He was very helpful in understanding what I was unhappy with in my last set of contacts and is currently working with me to find the right contact lenses for me. Meanwhile, I have a new pair of glasses that are very nice and prescription-perfect. I would have no qualms recommending anyone to go here (except my ex. He can find his own place!) August 2018: I just took my 80+ yr-old father in for an eye exam and glasses. He was way overdue.
