A shopkeeper asked if we'd been to this hot springs. We didn't even know about this historic springs. As a last minute idea, we woke up early and checked out in time to soak at Bozeman before flying to our respective home cities. It was a good call! The facility looks very new. Its lobby and architecture is modern and evocative of a high end fitness center. The changing rooms are very well appointed, with large lockers, changing areas and clean showers. Plus, the place smelled amazing! There are pools of varying sizes and temperatures inside but there was a somewhat raucous water aerobics class (or something) when we arrived so we made our way to the outdoor pools. They were very nice and architecturally pleasing. There are multiple outdoor pools and a nice stage and bench areas. If my travels take me to Bozeman again (and I hope they do!), I will definitely prioritize a visit. A cramped airplane seat was infinitely more tolerable after a nice soak! With all the modern touches, I was somewhat surprised to learn that this is an historic springs enjoyed by generations of guests!

I've visited this beautiful spa twice during trips to Big Sky during the holidays. It's a lovely…read morefacility, very relaxing, and I've enjoyed the services there. I don't typically stay at the hotel, so having access to the fitness center is a big bonus. I've had facials, body scrubs and pedis there, and they've all been really good services. That being said, the seasonal staff can be a little awkward (lots of confusion about using the fitness center), and I did feel a looooot of pressure to buy products. I finally told the person doing my facial that I wanted to nap so that he would stop talking. That being said, it's a great spa experience, especially after a day of skiing. Really like this place.

Only giving this 2 stars because my massage was good…read more I came in on Wednesday for a massage and facial. The lady at the front desk walked me down the hall, pointed at the "women's" room, and said, "go in there and change." Uh...not even going to show me the locker or show me how to put in the code?? Get into the ladies locker room and it was tiny and a mess. Towels on the floors, no robes in the lockers, trash...just gross. My massage was very good, but then comes the facial. The worst facial of my life. She asked me about my goals, and I said moisture and extractions. She tells me, "they're not setup for extractions here." I feel like that is standard for facials and they should have a disclaimer about that. Go into the facial, and she was so rough. Weirdly massaged me and kept yanking on my arms saying, "relax!" She also did not tell me a single product that she used on my face/explain what each did. I go to pay...tip was already included, which on principle, annoys me. Then the ladies at the front can't print off my receipt so one says, "do you mind if I sign it for you?" YES I MIND!! They also put a "gift box" up front with your name as a way to push products. It's not a gift - everything is over $50. Worst money I've ever spent. While the massage was good, I could've gotten a good massage for a fraction of the price. I paid for a spa experience that I did not get. Do not go here.

We stayed two nights here while visiting Yellowstone and it was exactly what we wanted…read more We actually switched to this place mid-trip. We'd been booked at an older property inside the park with no air conditioning, cancelled it, and found the 1872. Best decision we made. The AC worked exactly as it should, and after long days in the park it made a real difference. It's an adults-only boutique property at the edge of town -- close enough to walk downtown, far enough to escape the crowds and noise. Quiet is the word that keeps coming to mind, and that's rare in a gateway town in August. Check-in was easy, and the gentleman at the front desk walked us to the room himself and showed us how everything worked -- the gas fireplace, the towel warmer for the bath towels. Small touches, but you notice when someone takes the time. The room was spotless and a good size. We had four pieces of luggage open at once and never felt crowded. Beds were very comfortable. Anything we asked for, we got. We loved it and would stay here again without hesitation. The switching story is the strongest thing in the review now. Anyone weighing in-park lodging against staying in West Yellowstone is going to read that paragraph and make a decision.

I first found Ambience Spa while doing a Google Search to find both an Infrared Sauna and a Salt…read moreRoom in Bozeman, Montana - both of which I used to enjoy where we lived prior. I decided to stop by to see the spa. Upon walking in, I was immediately greeted by the Owner, Pam and given a tour. I learned that for just shy of $40 a month, I can use the Spa facilities and have unlimited access to the Infrared Sauna, Salt Room, Jade Fusion Bed and Water Massage Table. This is a great deal as I was paying well over that each month for the Infrared Sauna alone where we lived prior. The health benefits of an infrared sauna are amazing and not mention what it has done to my skin - it's smooth and has cleared up some stubborn acne! The Infrared Sauna is different from a standard steam sauna as it's dry heat. Also, the infrared sauna is better for me as I'm sensitive to heat - this doesn't get nearly as hot. I've noticed that I have a lot more energy after going, I've lost weight and I sleep better at night. All huge bonuses for me, as I'm not a deep sleeper. Perhaps, it's all of those toxins coming out of my body. The Salt Room that I was going to before, was more of a Salt Cave with several people in a room at one time breathing the salt air. This is different as it's more of a salt chamber for one person. However, Pam explained that with the chamber, the salt is more concentrated, so instead of spending 45 minutes in a room with strangers as I did before, I could do this quickly, in private in just 15 minutes. The salt is a must for me. I can tell when I don't go. I've been a fan of this for years and looked everyplace in Montana for one - I'm so happy that I found Ambience as it's the only one in the state! The Salt helps with my Rosacea (less red), makes my skin softer and helps with my sinuses and ear problems. I was turned onto the Salt Room a couple of years ago when I had a friend with terrible eczema and after going to the Salt Room for 30 days, she looked the best she had in years - it was practically gone! You have to be consistent though, which is one of the reasons I love Ambience - I can go as often as I want. I usually start with a water massage to relax, then read a magazine or book in the Infrared Sauna, followed by meditation in the Salt Chamber. It takes about an hour to do all three, but it's great alone time and so incredibly relaxing! Ambience offers a monthly spa package (which I have), tanning bed packages, spray tans or a combo of the spa package/tanning package. Go see Pam and try something new!

Absolutely loved that he gave us a run down on what was coming, what to look out for, and there are bathroom stops! Very knowledgeable on the National Park. My husband and I really enjoyed learning new things reference the park and history of Montana. We did the tour and brought our toddler(3) with us and did great. Many of the walks are friendly and very worth it. I appreciated that Chris shared where the best spot to sit and see Old Faithful do its thing. Great spots for photos and phenomenal views you just don't care for your phone. Will be coming back again and booking Yellowstone Expeditions.
