I have been wanting to try this place for a while and finally got the chance. I called in my order of The Vermont (no bacon) which was a fried chicken sandwich with a side of fries. The man said it would take about 20 minutes. When I arrived it wasn't what I expected. I thought it was going to be a restaurant but it was a smaller place where you just go to the window and pick up your food. The place also had a lot of construction being done, but those are the kind of places that have the best food lol. When I walked up to the window the man said its not done yet and I went back to the car to wait. He called me when it was ready and I walked up and paid. I took a peak inside and it seemed pretty clean and well kept. The food was a little over $11. When I got home I dug in. The fries were seasoned really well and was tasty. The sandwich was thick and hefty. It was pretty good as well. All in all I had a pretty decent experience and I would try something else in the future. read more

Blink and you might miss this family run Peruvian spot. Though the space is a little small it looked like it was popular with the locals, which I took as a plus. On my visit they seemed to be getting a catering order ready but still were kind and attentive enough to make a space ready and take our order. I thought I would keep my order simple with a chuletta (grilled pork chop) and my mom ordered the chaufa con cemeron (Peruvian shrimp fried rice) the portions we got were huge and food was served still hot from the kitchen. Great food, good prices for what you get and really nice ambience now that all the renovations are complete! I've come here a few times, the Sweet Pig pulled pork sandwich is delicious and topped with "sour cabbage" (which was like a zesty coleslaw). My other favorite is the chicken balsamic- which has sausage too and packs such an array of flavors. The owner is usually around and provides stellar service- really nice guy with a great story on how he came to Newark. Would definitely recommend if you're in the area (Rutgers/NJIT). read more

Really good food! Had a burger and fries and was very happy with the choice to eat here. The guy running the place was also really nice. You might not realize it's here bc it's a little back from the street but really nice inside. They have a bar too which I would have gotten a drink had it been a little later in the day. Very good as a lunch place. They're still undergoing renovations so a few things aren't up, like the bar, but that doesn't affect the quality of the food one bit. Location: 3/5 Resa Grill is a hidden gem tucked away on Locke Street by automotive and parking spaces. It's very quaint, no parking, and barely any inside seating (however there were chairs outside). It looks like a cozy little shack as you approach it. Beware- the deck in front of the entrance can get very slippery after it rains. Food: 4.75/5 I got the acclaimed Vermont Rooster. It did NOT disappoint. The chicken is juicy and tender, and seasoned well. They made a fried chicken sandwich NOT seem heavy, which is remarkable. They add maple, bacon and pickles so there's a beautiful meld of flavors- salty, sweet and acidic to cut the fat. It comes with thick-cut fries, generously seasoned with salt and pepper. It's obvious a chef made this burger. It's not your typical, run-of-the-mill, diner burger. It also comes with a very quaint pasta salad. For $10, I'm pretty happy with my meal and I'd probably go again. Heads up: wait time is 20 mins so def call well in advance before you pick up your food. The place is a hidden gem literally I stumbled on this place. Glad I did the food is very good, and the server is very attentive.

One of the best burgers I have ever had was from this place. I get the Angry Burger and it comes with fries on the side. The meat is so tender and the bun is nicely toasted. The burger is also seasoned and it tastes amazing. It is a small place but the owner is very nice and welcoming. They have seating outside and there are some seats inside as well. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area that wants to good burger. The food is made to order so it does take a little time to get your food, but it is well worth the wait and you can tell its made with care. read more

My friend and I came here on a rainy Saturday night after studying at NJIT campus. This place is small, but the owner is extremely pleasant and made sure we loved our food. It has a cute homey feel with outdoor seating as well (which would be great for the summer time!) I ordered a turkey sandwich which came with a side of pasta and fries, and my friend ordered penna al vodka with shrimp. It was all very delicious and we were both satisfied. We were ordering to-go, but because of the rain we decided to just eat in-house. Would definitely recommend this place whenever you're in the area. My best friend and I tried Resa Grill one day when we were hungry and since then have eaten it almost once a day and on some days twice a day. The food is incredible and the presentation is second to none. I cant think of a single thing on the menu that hasn't left me stuffed but still wanting more. On a side note the Vermont rooster with a side of onion rings is one of my favorite meals and I recommend it to anyone that likes a good hot sandwich (and the perfectly seasoned onion rings). In all Resa Grill gets a 10 out of 5 stars from me and all my friends i've brought there also agree. Go to Resa's for the best food and very fair prices. read more

Yup! DELICIOUS! I judge a place by how well they cook chicken wings and this place gets it RIGHT! Sauce is yummy! It is a very small establishment but that's ok. I ate in with a group of friends and we were fine. Everything is made to other from quality ingredients. I admire this place because it is a small business, unique to Newark and the owners take a lot of pride in that. Great price points for large servings. Folks should not think about this as a stop & grab. It's not Subway sandwiches! It's quality cooked food. The Vermont Rooster was delicious! I also had a yummy fruit muffin! I look forward to going back for their pizzas. I went within the first month of it being open and i think they were still working out the kinks but even that won't keep me from going back. This place is just beginning out and actually it's awesome. The amount of flavor used in their food is exceptional, the Vermont Chicken is savory and moist ! I never ate chicken sandwiches until this place came around ! As a student in the area , for the quality of food you receive I think it's fairly priced. Everything is made fresh to order so don't expect your local fast food turn around...
