Came here on a Saturday afternoon and had a wonderful time with my friends. There's an indoor/lounge area and a rooftop dining area. The music was great and never stopped the entire time we were there. We came in with no reservations and were seated quickly. Service was good and our server was pretty attentive. The food and drinks were AMAZING! For cocktails we did the passion fruit and mango sangrias, and the "Dame tu Lychee". For food we shared a La Bandera Gourmet, fried yuca, pincho trío, and mofonguitos. Can't wait to come back here read more

This place is super cutesy -- definitely bonus points for having the rooftop available even in the middle of February. I love that they still make it an option despite the cold weather. The decor was gorgeous with the trees. The service was good, especially considering we were a large party. We did the 2-hour bottomless sangria and mimosas which came with two entrees, and overall it was a really nice experience. Food was great as well! + THEY GOT HOOKAH + Would I recommend it? Yes. Would I go back? It's about an hour and a half from me, so probably not anytime soon -- but I'm glad I went! read more

My wife and I had a great time at Republica! We were looking for a fun Dominican spot in Washington Heights and this place delivered. We went on Sunday at 2pm and had their brunch special which was an appetizer, entree, and bottomless mimosas/sangria for 2 hours. The food was delicious, but portion sizes could've been a bit bigger. I got the empanadas and the salmon and both were good. The drinks were delicious and fairly strong for bottomless drinks. We sat on the rooftop and there was plenty of space and a great DJ. They had sports on the TV and the rooftop was really nicely decorated. Our servers were attentive and the food came out without issue. This is a great spot for a nice, upbeat brunch or a party. The rooftop didn't start filling up until about 3pm and the bottom floors were empty at this time which is to be expected on a Sunday afternoon. I'd love to come back and see what it's like at night! read more

The brunch offers a breakfast meal and a lunch, featuring carribean meals for both. I got the empanada and the club sandwich ( I was basic) but my friends go los Tres golpe, steak and eggs and even a Cesar salad that was HUGE. We got pitchers of Sangria and mimosas. Brunch here is one of the best deals I've seen. I'm sorry, but you're getting two meals (papas y chorizo and a steak and eggs dish) as well as a bottomless happy hour for 2 hours for $50. The DJ was amazing and was throwing bops the entire time. There was a great mix of songs and never singled out one artist, as you should. Service here was also great. Ginny served us with the utmost attention and made sure that we stayed hydrated and attended to. No notes on this place and excited to come back and make sure that we have the same experience. I'll be here if I ever need an uptown brunch spot read more

Hmmm... a lot to unpack in this review. I want to give it 3.5 stars, but there isn't an option for that. So 4 stars it is. Republica is a three-story lounge, restaurant, and rooftop located on Dyckman Street in Upper Manhattan. They serve Dominican and Latin cuisine for lunch, brunch, and dinner along with handcrafted cocktails, wine, and beer. They have the typical "fiesta" ambiance that makes it the ideal place to book your parties, events, and celebrations. Unfortunately it's not ADA accessible. There are a ton of stairs, so be careful. We had reservations on the rooftop as a party of 8 for the 2 hour bottomless brunch. The rooftop isn't anything fancy, but it's still a cute vibe. They have canopies so you're protected from the glaring sun. They have sofas, vibrant pastel colors, trees with pink foliage, and music playing. Not too much of a view... the only view is of the surrounding Dyckman area, which isn't too impressive. The bottomless brunch is $50 (not including taxes and gratuity) per person. You get a 2-course prix fixe menu and bottomless sangrias & mimosas. They don't seat you unless your ENTIRE party is present, so make sure everyone comes on time. There's a strict two hour limit and the timer starts as soon as that pitcher hits your table. The prix fixe menu is limited. You choose one breakfast option and one lunch option. The portion sizes are not meant for a full meal - it's more like an appetizer or small plate. Our party ordered a couple of different things along with hookah. We enjoyed most of it. My take on the food/drinks: *Red Sangria - Very watered down and not nearly as strong as it should've been. This was more like sugary fruit juice. I didn't even get a little buzzy buzz... LOL but I guess I shouldn't be surprised at the quality of BOTTOMLESS alcohol. *La Banderita - Includes two chicken empanadas with lemongrass aioli sauce. These were very small, but packed a lot of flavor. The chicken filling was seasoned so well with spices! *Dulce de Leche Pancakes - Includes three small pancakes, fresh fruit, and agave butter. Delicious! The pancakes were fluffy and sweet. The dulce de leche in the batter added a rich and milky caramel flavor. *Papas & Chorizo - Includes jalapeno chorizo, chorizo foam, sunny side up egg, peppers, cherry tomatoes, and red potatoes. Umm... why did I order this? LOL I didn't like this at all. The chorizo was extremely dry, grainy, and bland. They forgot to add potatoes. I just ate the egg... *Salmon Caribeno - Includes grilled salmon, saffron lime sauce, and mashed potatoes. The salmon wasn't too bad. The outside of it was smoky and charred. It was a little overcooked and could've been more buttery, moist, and tender. The sauce did not taste like anything... I wish it had more of a zest to complement the salmon. *Complimentary Tres Leches Cake - The servers brought out a slice for my friend's birthday. The gesture was sweet, but the cake wasn't very good. It was dry, dense, and didn't properly absorb the milk mixture :/ Overall, there were some hits and misses with the food. The presentation of all the dishes were beautiful, but the taste wasn't up to par. Is this worth $50+? Mehhh. The portions were small, the food didn't blow my mind, and the alcohol was watered down... I'd pass. After finishing our food, we got a table downstairs in the lounge. It's a club atmosphere, so expect blasting music, strobe lights, and LED screens. The DJ stand is here, so this is the floor you wanna be on if you want to dance. We ended up getting Casamigos for bottle service. Buying a bottle is worth it if you split the cost between a group. I enjoyed myself and had a fun time dancing with friends. I just wish the food and drinks were better. You're not getting a good value for what you pay for. The ambiance really pulls most of the restaurant's weight. I would only come back for their Happy Hour or daily specials. read more

I'm very disspointed especially because the food looks very good on their website. I'll start portion sizes. The portion size was very small especially with the price everything was. The empanadas was not even filled completed. The pork with the Mofongo was overcooked and very hard to chew. The surf and turk came with two shrimp skewers and two filet for 40$ which was not even fulfilled. The music was good and ambiance was good which definitely helps. If you going to just party and brunch especially on the second floor where its more lively that would probably be the move. The drinks were alright I was not impressed though. read more

Our servicer Genesis was great! Brunch for $50- unlimited mimosas, a breakfast and a lunch... can you beat that? First floor is a little loud but the second floor was perfect for a brunch with friends. The French toast was great! The Salmon was crispy and tender. The sauce was well balanced between the saffron and lime. Plantains (which is stole from my friend's meal) were perfecttt! They leave the pitcher for the mimosa so you don't have to wait for the refill. Nice little view of inwood from the heated rooftop. read more

I've been here several times for their lunch special. I was coming weekly to the vein clinic across the street and would come here for lunch right after at 11:30am or 12pm for weeks. The food here is fresh and delicious. Staff is nice and friendly. Restaurant and Bathrooms are very clean. However, All of a sudden, they no longer open at 11:30am. There's signs all over about their lunch menu but no one inside and the doors are locked. I loved their bento lunch special so much i called the number once to ask what time they were going to open and the number went to a voicemail they never returned my call. I googled and saw they are still advertised as opened at 11:30am. Their website also states they are opened at 11:30am, Even yelp says they open at 11:30am. However, when I checked on instagram i noticed they now open at 4pm on weekdays. They need to update this everywhere and remove the lunch special sign. It's false advertisement. I'm so sad they no longer offer this but I'm more upset there's no signs saying their hours changed and this will no longer be an available option for lunch read more

I came here for dinner and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Ok so let's start with the good; the place is pretty we sat on the top floor because I was there to eat not party. The calamari was delicious and well cooked; it was my favorite. I also liked the dessert which was pretty. I also enjoyed the Chimi sliders but they were really small. I did not like my main entree because the mofongo was dry and I didn't want the milky garlic sauce they offered. Overall the dryness of the mofongo was the reason I didn't like my entree but if you don't mind a milky garlic sauce then you would like it. I would have preferred a garlic sauce without a milky base but that was not an option. The service was slow but there were a lot of people there so it was understandable. The music was loud and the place was dark. I did not select this place but being that this is my not my ideal dinner setting; I wouldn't be back. But if you like to dance and party when you eat then this is your place. Overall it is ok; depending what environment you are looking for this might be your place. read more

The food was amazing. The service was amazing. The ambience and the look of the space was awesome. The drinks are good and they

Heard a lot about this spot, so decided to finally try it. Good call! The food was good, drinks creative, and all for a fair price. The staff was friendly and unlike many spots in the area, made us feel welcomed and un-rushed. The experience was very welcoming and makes Republica an outlier of the neighborhood. This is A LEGITIMATE RESTAURANT, not just a club masquerading as one like other places I've been. Definitely adding this to my regular rotation and sorry it took me so long to try it. Well done. read more

Brunch review- Food: I had the Dominican breakfast (mangu, sausage, fried cheese, eggs sunny side up. It was decent but my Dominican friend was not impressed. Especially because she had to ask for the sauce/vinegar that's supposed to come with it. It was overpriced for $50. Drinks: We had 2 bottles of rosé. Decent price for a good wine ($30 per bottle). Ambiance: The rooftop is large and there was a DJ. The vibes were calm. The bathroom was clean. I'd go back but only to enjoy happy hour on the rooftop. Also, there was an automatic 20% gratuity. read more

Went back to Republica for a friends b day... we sat on the rooftop the food was great! I had a whole snapper it was seasoned well! My friends also thought their food was good. But the downside was when I first got to Republica and ordered a Casamigo with pineapple I was charged $30..... THIRTY AMERICAN DOLLARS FOR ONE DRINK! I think the waiter jipped me because when I went back for drinks later that night though it was Hennessy the drinks were about $15. read more

I have to say they are a bit disorganized, you make a reservation and it is not taken seriously, it doesn't look like they had it ready for you and then you hear a different story from different staff. you may end up waiting for a very long time. I came here super hungry from work. I took a chance after reading the reviews! TIP IS INCLUDED IN CHECK! I only ordered food and drinks off their Happy Hour menu that is $6. Margarita: very very very cheap liquor, Applebee's does a better job on their $6 margarita. Tacos: When I bite into it it tasted kinda sweet; they add sweet plantain in it to make it stretch! Slick! They wasn't bad but nothing to ride home about, the sweetness ruins it for me. Chimi Burgers aka sliders: Didn't come out hot and I was too hungry to send them back. And the bread was kinda hard! SKIP! Wings: They were aiight! The service was aiight! Juan (my server) never checked on me you just have to flag him down when you can. The food didn't take long to come out. Ambiance: I came because it's a rooftop restaurant (why did I think I will have some views?). Let me tell you now the only view you getting is Chase Bank, Burger King and construction. I was disappointed. It's also a hookah lounge and folks bring they kids (spoiled kids that throw tantrums and run around lol) to hookah smh EARLY too!! I don't smoke so I will neverrrr come here late. Will I come back here you ask? Maybe because the have a app+entree+drink for $30. I am working on University Ave so it's quick to get here on the 1 train so I will check out the $30 combo. Will have a follow up review! No, I would not recommend to my friends. This place will be my dirty little secret. read more

We booked a birthday celebration and it was NOT IT. Vibes were boring. There was no birthday celebration the music was so low. The music overall at the restaurant was lame. Food was abysmal. Steak was chewy and Overcooked. The beer was warm and we requested ice like 5 times. The sangria was watered down red wine with no fruit. The waitress was overwhelmed. We didn't even get the dessert that was supposed to come with our three course meal. For $65 pp for the party plus extra expenses and drinks that we spent almost $1500... we were robbed. I called Stephanie, who originally gave us the contract for the party, to put in a complaint and see if there's anything they can do. She told me she'll get back to me and it's been 48 hours and I have not heard from her. And on top of that, I did text her after she gave me her number to personally contact her for follow up and I've been ghosted since. Super unprofessional. Do not come here for celebrations. read more

The manager was rude and dismissive trying to protect his business did not care about how we felt about how disappointed we were. Good service. Claudio is too much, very good service. The ambiance was good and the food was delicious.

Came for a colleague's bday brunch. It was definitely a vibe. 1st floor is the entrance. When you walk up the first flight of stairs DJ will be playing Spanish music. We opted to go to the 3rd floor/rooftop . Dj there was playing a variety / Caribbean beats. Decor was eye catching. For brunch special, you get your choice of bottomless sangria or mimosas (interchangeable). Next you will each choose one item off their breakfast brunch and then one item off their lunch brunch menus. Music was blasting and it was filled with great convo. Server was very attentive and made the experience enjoyable. The French toast, tres golpes (traditional Dominican breakfast) were good. The Chimi sandwich I ended up taking to-go. I will say for that item it was a bit on the dry side probably would try a different item next time read more

Republica is a VYBE on a Saturday night! I highly recommend this place and I'm very intentional to caution people to not base their decision on whether to go on their lackluster reviews. I have only dined on the rooftop because it is the prettiest. IG picture posters would love it here. The shining star is the food.. it is GOOD! I have been both times with big groups and everyone enjoyed their food because it was full of flavor. Start with appetizers: their calamari is delicious but don't skip the guacamole. I have had the skirt steak and the paella... both were delicious. The skirt steak is tender and juicy while the paella comes with a whole lobster tail. Honorable mention goes out to the bartender because the drinks are always on point. Shoutout to wait staff for the show that they put on when they deliver "EL PERFUME" cocktail to your table. The customer service is way better than the reviews suggest but could be improved by hiring more staff. Please note that it takes longer to get your food when seated on the rooftop because their kitchen is on the level below and may arrive less than hot because it is a partially covered up there as well. It can be pricey but I found everything to be worth the price that I paid for it. Take a chill pill, leave the kids at home, grab some friends and maybe even a bag a chips so you won't be hangry then enjoy the vibes at Republica while eating your food. read more
