They kept raising our fees every few months. Then, they added a fuel charge of $123 per quarter. My wife called them about it and got a rude response about them charging so much. People she works with are paying less than half of what we've been getting charged. $386 per quarter for residential trash and recycling pickup! That's insane. read more

Customer service with this company is horrible. Fees for terminating services is unbelievable! You actually have to pay them to pick up the can Then they still want me to pay and turn me over to collections when they don't pick up the can for months. Absolute worst customer service on the planet! Every call you make to order, ask a question or pick up you will be on hold for a minimum of 15 to 20 minutes. My last call for a pickup was over 1 hour! Last year I paid for the year when the bill came due within a couple months they contacted me and told me they raised their rates and I had to pay them more to continue my service I told them that's fine but I'm canceling my service when the year is up and I'll go elsewhere. I never got a bill before it was due this year and they sent me a late notice I called immediately and canceled my service they waited 2 weeks before getting the trash bin and continued calling me saying the bill was past due even after they had picked up the bin and when I log in they were still trying to get me to pay for the year they changed it and still want me to pay a third of what it would've cost me for the year DO NOT USE THEM UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE SCAMMED BY THEIR SHADY TACTICS read more

They delivered a 30 yard dumpster on 01/06/2022 that my boyfriend ordered with his card, not mine. I called Republic Services on Jan 10th and asked to have it picked up and also asked if there was going to be an additional charge to have it returned to us. The representative said no. I asked again, "Are you sure? Because if there's a charge, I'd just like to know about it and there's no miscommunication." There was no mention of a charge whatsoever in that call on the 10th. Had we been given a charge at that time, this story could end right here. It does not end there. They bring back the dumpster on the 11th. On 01/19/2022, they pick it up. On January 25th-- FOUR DAYS LATER-- they called my boyfriend from a private number. The number was 419-305-2511. It doesn't even come up as Republic Services. When Googled, it pulls up Janet StClair. She informs him that there is an additional charge of 635.00 for an extra dump! Thinking that that is incredibly shady and that we are just getting scammed by someone who happens to have our info-- We go back and forth with them while calling the main line (800) 677-1083. Kristy Johnson calls us from 269-775-3015 and is telling us that it is a valid charge. We tell her all about the first scammy phone call where we learned it was free and asked why wasn't it charged when we asked about on the 10th? She ignored that and said it's still valid, regardless of what the customer rep said!! I told her if they looked back on their recordings, they would have a copy of the rep telling me on the 10th that it was free. She then proceeded to tell me that I should have read the contract [how would I NOT BEING A CUSTOMER??] and that the charge is valid even though their customer service rep said it was free. I ended the phone call because I couldn't believe it. I then get a voice mail that she listened to the recording AND STILL SAYS THE CHARGE IS VALID. She then keeps asking for my recording which at this point, I'm about to send to my lawyer! Its a recording where there is literally no mention of an extra charge whatsoever. I never signed anything so there is no verbiage that makes me a customer so per their contract on the fourth page, "Customer acknowledges that Company will not accept any communications from any third parties acting as the Customer's agent or representative." I even can't pay my boyfriend's propane account with his card but Republic JUST SAYS IM A CUSTOMER NO MATTER WHAT. AND HE HASNT EVEN RECEIVED A BILL IN THE MAIL AND THEY JUST CALLED HIM TODAY, SAYING THEY ARE SENDING HIM TO COLLECTIONS!!! OUTRAGEOUS!! Horrible company with horrible service and full of misrepresentations, left and right. Also reviewed on the Better Business Bureau. This is the worst company ever. If an employee of mine told a client something was free and it wasnt, I would have to eat that charge. I love my clients but apparently Republic doesn't give a damn about theirs. When a large corporation takes over your local family-owned service business, you know it's not going to go well. The 800 number isn't staffed so expect to spend 40 min. getting a human to ask a simple question. There is no way to contact the local office, I even tried to have the Township Supervisor call his "special" number. No dice. So I got my helpers and went over there on Saturday morning, during the hours posted on their website, here on Yelp and other Consumer sites. Nope. The gate was chained and padlocked, even tho the sign clearly said they should be open. So now it's Monday morning and I STILL can't get a call from someone there. In my case, I have no choice about this service, it's contracted via the Township. It's clear that Republic "Services" has taken the service out of this Corporation. I googled their CEO pay scale and wouldn't you know, he made 6Million in 2014. Enough to fire the local people and send all communication to an offsite call center that's completely out of touch with what the local station is doing. Now watch as I get a robo answer from whomever is doing their social media. If you have a choice between this Corporation and something else, choose wisely. read more

Good luck trying to speak to someone regarding trash pu! You'll wait on hold forever! Asked to resume our service after winter hold; still haven't picked up- a month later. Oh, and our trash bin disappeared... asked for a replacement, 4 weeks later - NO bin!! And still being billed! This company has gone down hill since they sold!! read more

While driving through the wonderful Village of Stevensville You know its Recycle day because all the trash cans with yellow lids are either in the road near the road or just laying on there sides. I have never seen one driver be careless. Whos gonna pay for my car when I hit one.... This have been going on for along time and it is now just ridiculous. read more

BEWARE! Republic will nickel and dime you to death. Three years ago Republic assumed my trash pickup by buying out the company that picked up our trash. Their rates have increased by 33% since then, we have a four month billing period and three out of four billing cycles their rates have increased. We canceled our service and contracted with another company. Republic's response unless you deliver the garbage can they will charge an 18$ pickup fee. Outrageous! They are paying half what fuel costs were when they took over our pickup. I would expect such billing practices from the Mob. read more

Republic Services purchased our local family owned company that had provided great service for years. Soon after that, they started skipping weeks and not picking up the recycling. They kept refusing over and over to pick up the recycling and said that it was a free service, so they didn't have to pick it up if they didn't want to. Several times they spilled the trash all over and refused to pick that up too. I finally had to switch to Lakeshore. After I cancelled service with them permanently, they continued to charge me. I have made four calls where I am placed on hold for a LONG time and they transfer me 4 or 5 times to someone who swears they will fix the problem, but in spite of that I continue to receive angry letters threatening to destroy my credit in spite of the fact that I haven't had their service for 6 mos!!! If you have the option of ANY other trash company, use it! read more

I am pleased too report that reporting (on Yelp) Republic's failure to provide services and the behavior of the person who took my call at the company office resulted in a message from the home office, a call from the local manager and a visit by the supervisor of services in my area. Each one was appropriately apologetic and made clear that the purpose of contacting me was to resolve any issues that were causing a lack of service to be provided, and a sincere interest in providing the best service possible. Needless to say I am impressed and will continue to work with this company. Their actions have created a loyal customer. As a result, I have removed my previous post. read more
