I've been a Republic Services customer for at least 15 years, and unfortunately, my recent experience with their billing department has been incredibly frustrating. The issues started when I was enrolled in AutoPay. A representative entered the wrong expiration date for my payment method, so every month my account would show the payment as "confirmed," when in reality it was being declined. I eventually figured out the problem with the help of one very helpful representative and got it corrected. Despite resolving the issue, just three days later Republic came and removed my garbage cans. To get them back, I had to pay a $100 service fee plus another month's payment. In one week alone, I paid over $300 just to restore my service. Then, only three weeks later, they attempted to charge me another $78--even though I have a $191 credit on my account. None of it makes sense. When I called customer service, the representative was dismissive, talked over me, and treated me like I was someone who simply refused to pay my bill. She refused to transfer me to a supervisor, claiming she didn't have one. The only time she became eager to help was when I mentioned canceling my service, immediately offering to transfer me to the cancellation department. Ironically, I can't even cancel right now because, thanks to all of the billing errors and credits, I'm paid through January. Over the years, my bill has fluctuated dramatically. At one point I was paying $141 while my dad, who lives just down the street and receives the same service, was paying only $73. After I questioned it, they adjusted my rate, but it has slowly been creeping back up again. The most disappointing part is that the billing problems have consistently been on Republic's end, yet I have been the one dealing with the consequences, extra fees, wasted time, and poor customer service. The only positive experience I had was with the representative who helped identify the AutoPay issue. Everyone else has made me feel like a problem instead of a loyal customer. After 15 years of being a paying customer, I expected much better treatment. read more

Every quarter price goes up. Just got bill and it's gone up $28 since last quarter. I've been on hold for 10 minutes and still waiting. Going to cancel. Found new service that is only $96 per quarter rather than $148.28! It's a shame. Been with Republic for 14 years. Become greedy! read more

Always upping prices. I paid the same amount for one trash can that another person in the same city pays for trash and recycling through them. I have on street parking, but have to figure out how to make room for my trash can or they won't take it. Multiple missed pickups even when no cars or anything is in the way of the trash within a couple months even though i've used them for years. Stopped recycling and went to just trash to save money and they put a sticker on our can saying we can't throw away anything that can be recycled so basically they force you to pay for both since you can't throw away cardboard or milk cartons. I contacted them end of December. I have been paying way too much for service. She said that she could 130.00 plus taxes for three months. The bill I received was due for January that covers January February and march. Well they wanted me to still pay 324.00 for the coming up months. I said no why would I pay 324.00 and they were to take one can back first week of January instead they took both my cans. I received a call stating I was pass due. Not this company has screwed me with these 300 plus bills. That is 1200.00 a year. This company owes me all those back trash bills for the last 8 years. I found a trash company that charges under 100.00 for three months. read more

Horrible company. Charged me over 1k to DROP a dumpster 3 miles down the road from their facility. Then told me to hold off on paying the bill until they fix my bill to just suspend my service and haven't picked up my trash in a month. Then when I paid the 1k because I'm sick of having an over full dumpster, they told me they had to charge me for non scheduled pickup even though it's their fault. read more

They have a contract wirh the city of Sandusky to pick up yard waste every Friday. They have not picked it up in 2 two weeks. We pay $15.50 per month for this service which they are not performing. WtH read more

i discontinued using Republic Services due to their high prices and poor customer service. When you call them you get a person on the other end that either acts like you are bothering them or they are just rude. This morning i called to question why, when i was quoted $30.00 to take away my garbage container the bill came to $47.00, which after "renting" this container for so long then to be billed to pickup my container for this amount i felt was uncalled for. The rep on the other end of the line began to argue and disregard how i felt about these charges. All i can say is good bye to Republic and started service with Cyclone who is awesome!! i am saving over $100 per yr in fees and the girls there have gone above and beyond, they are super nice!! I would recommend Cyclone to anyone interested in getting away from Republic Services high bills and rude customer service. read more

The bill I just got better be a joke since I spoke to no less than 6 people over a 2 week time period. Told me it was resolved. You never delivered the 2 carts I asked for (and I called multiple times for that); said you'd take our move-in trash, the driver told me literally he was too busy to do that; and never got one single call back after 3 calls were supposedly "escalated" to the local office (even the one rep telling me that they see their green IM light on so they know someone was there) Yeah, can't make that up now can I? Take care of it and send me an email showing we don't owe anything. ZERO balance. Every year they mess up my bill...but now they are trying to force us into paying them more money by refusing to empty more than one trashcan. Who has just one trashcan? My neighborhood has had this collection service for more than two decades. When we talk to the trash collectors they say we need to pay more money. So frankly they are engaging in strong armed tactics that is endangering our neighborhood. read more

WORST SERVICE EVER. This business is quite the joke. Number 1, every billing cycle the bill seems to escalate. Service started out at $85 for a three-month pickup when we first signed up. It is now $165 a year later. Calling the 800 number gets you no where. After waiting on the line for 93 minutes for a live person, they couldn't explain the over pricing. Needless to say, I cancelled our service. We are now with CYCLONE SERVICES, 1-800-711-2976 and couldn't be happier. Their billing is $80 for three months, and will even come up the drive to retrieve the filled tote. CYCLONE is expanding services in Northern Ohio and are located in Castalia, Ohio. CYCLONE has a phone number that someone actually answers. I am now in collections, as I didn't call a month ahead to cancel Republic Services and they are billing me for $165, and they are not doing any pickups!!! read more

The absolute worst customer service in existence. I live on a dead end street that has been under construction for 3 weeks. One lane of street has remained open at all times. For 3 weeks I have watched Fed Ex,UPS,cement and dump trucks easily maneuver up and down street. For three weeks the Republic crew has decided it's to much effort and has skipped street altogether. It's been 15 days since we've had a pick-up and over a dozen calls to the Republic "customer service" team has yielded no results. Next up is city services local media and health dept. since the piled up trash is now a health concern. Fed-up and still waiting for a return phone call here in Huron, Ohio. If your a northern Ohio resident or business considering Republic for trash services, PLEASE look elsewhere. A few dollars a month is not worth it when there are issues, and trust me, you'll have issues. read more

Bad service. When I first moved into my new house it took them over a month to deliver the trash cans to me. Also, they don't pick up your trash, but they'll pick up the neighbors trash. What a joke. read more

Worst. Service. I've. Ever. Had. If you're in the Fremont area, go with Cyclone!! This place is such a JOKE it's almost laughable how horrible they are...almost. I cancelled my service with Republic because they didn't drop off the bin when they said they were going to, and then they didn't drop it off again for another TWO WEEKS!. I didn't want to deal with a service who couldn't even get step 1 down, so I called to cancel. I was on hold for AN HOUR! Well, I just got a bill in the mail for a service I cancelled three weeks ago. So I've been on hold for 30 mins so far with the billing department to fix the issue. I can guarantee I'm on hold for another 30 mins AND I'll still get bills in the mail. I even asked the lady when I canceled to give me a cancellation number and email because I KNEW I would get billed for this. And what do you know, I did. AND, she "couldn't provide me with a cancellation email or number". These people do NOT care about their customers or their business reputation. Clearly, look at all the reviews out there! Do. Not. Use. This. Company. You will be extremely dissatisfied. I'm embarrassed for this company and for the employees who work there. What a shame to be part of such a horrible business !!! read more
