10 years of service, repeated missed pickups with no refund. Service is decent when it happens, costs 3x the competitor. Charged extra invoice randomly in the middle of a quarter if costs increase for them but never refunds when they fail to provide service. Extra fuel fee on top of 37 dollar each removal fees for bins when you do cancel service, and no prorating for that quarter. I would recommend anyone avoid using their service. read more

Was consistent Miss pickups and the continuous prize and price I decided to discontinue. Now there are harassing me because for some reason they think I should pay them to come pick up their trash cans and they want $110. I don't care if they picked up the trash cans or not. If I could give zero stars, I would. This company is a joke and does not care. I had them for 6 months and they picked my trash up MAYBE 10 times and charged me full price every week still- even when I called to tell them they had a missed pick up. During the winter, they told me it was because of "weather issues" and THERE was not even snow or weather. I wait at least 60+ minutes on the phone every time I call. Best joke of it all is, one day they CANCELLED my services and tried to pick my trash can up without even calling. Its been 5 weeks since I cancelled my services and my account shows closed but they are still sending me bills and refusing to actually pick up the can. I will say- the ladies I speak with on the phone (but for one time) have been super understanding and helpful. They list and are responsive to my issues. Republic is the WORST company I have ever worked with. I moved into my home and that was the company that was being used previously, so I stuck with them. Despite everyone on my street using someone different. At first, they would miss me one week, but then would come the next and since I don't always fill my trash/recycling I decided to give them some grace and not call to report or voice my frustration. That was my first mistake. Then it became they were missing me and not coming for another two weeks, plus. I'll give them the fact that weather impeded some pickups, but despite me reaching out to let them know I got missed, they continued to miss me for multiple weeks after. Frustrated that I am paying for a service that they are not fulfilling, I decided to move on from the company. I felt as though I was doing them a favor as well as me, being the only resident on my street that uses them. Now I can't even get them to pick up their bins to return. I have spent the last month+ on the phone with this company more than my own family. To add insult to injury, despite cancelling my services I've still gotten charged an invoice and have had to spend another phone call session with a representative to refund this. The representatives that have helped me over the phone have always been very kind, helpful, and understanding. The customer service over the phone is better than the service that they provide. It is 10% for certain that they miss pickups all the time. I'm trying to sell my house and we are going on 3 weeks of no pick up. Cancelling the service because I was promised a pick up by today, and at 2pm it doesn't look like they are coming. This is the most expensive service for the best customer service. I'm going back to Ted. $80 2 tubs and I didn't have really any missed pickups. Wow! $202 for one month. They way over charge and under deliver. Just purchased a home in Lee's Summit. Aril 2024 was my first month with them. May will be my last. They charged $40 for the use of each container (trash and recycling), which is quite high. But the service is completely unreliable. They missed 2 out 4 Friday pick ups. April 6th and April 19th. I called right away both times Customer service agents were always kind and respectful, however the follow through is an issue. The first time they did not bother to send a truck out make it right. So I had to wait 2 weeks of trash built up. Although the company was willing to credit me for missed pick ups it was prorated and came out to a few dollars. I've had Republic Service for 2 to 3 years. My rate went so high I finally called and they cut my costs, so I gave them 2 stars. However, it seems my service has been cut as well. I frequently have missed pickups and I have to report several times and they may decided to pick up the container. They claim when they miss a service day due to weather they will pick up the next day or in 48 hours. This is certainly not the case. My most recent missed pick up was 3/20/22. 3 reports and nothing. How hard is it for a single driver to pull up along side my cart and press a button that picks it up and dumps it in the back??? He doesn't even get his hands dirty. My neighbors have actually stopped by to ask me if I'm ok and why my trash container sat on the curb all week and was not stowed away. Embarrasing ! A few weeks ago the company called and left a voicemail the morning of trash pickup to say they were unable to pickup. Of course I had already taken the trash container out to the curb. I called them later in the day to ask when they would perform trash pickup. They said they were unable to pickup trash that week - short staffed. I asked if we would be getting a partial month credit for the missed pickup and they said No because they called to say they would be missing the pickup that week. Not sure about you, but I pay them to pickup trash and do not feel a phone call is the same as trash pickup service. That left a really bad feeling about this service company. We live in a neighborhood that has contract with Republic Trash and Recycling services. Over the past two years, their service has deteriorated significantly and irreversibly. Also, their customer service team has no authority or training except to state the obvious. Their CEO or public policy team doesn't respond to any social media questions or comments either. Our neighborhood was left looking like trash yard last week after their recycling crew decided not to show up and the company didn't communicate. It is October 15, 2022. Our trash has not been picked up in over two weeks. Horrible customer service. This has happened several times before. They either don't answer their phone, or they lie. Our day is on Friday, and when there is a holiday earlier in the week, they delay everyone else's pick up by a day and then NEVER pick up on Friday. In May 2022 they only picked up twice. There was a time earlier this year where they missed picking up 3 out of 6 weeks. We have cancelled service effective the end of October. I won't be surprised if we never get pick up again. I moved and needed a trash service and called for quote and said I would call back and I did and gave deposit on Monday and was told have to wait till Friday for the trash can and then wait till Friday after that to put trash that is bad already, then no trash can came and I called and was told I would get a call 24 hrs no call bad again and I called again and was told someone will call and can't give time/day I will get my trash can so over it I told them to cancel and give money back, I went with Ted's trash and had trash can next day and was told if not there by trash day I could leave my trash out and it would get picked up. read more

Horrible customer svc, rude, and overpriced! I had Rep Svc for the past 5 years and dealt with my bill consistently going up and drivers frequently forgetting to pick up my trash, but the final straw for me was when they started charging an "Administrative fee" and a "Total Fuel/Environmental Recovery Fee" to offset their increased gas prices. The recovery fee was over half again what my regular bill was...went from $80.52 to $130.35! Quit their service...but was advised that I'd have to pay a $30 "Cart Removal" and then they charged me $27.92 additional for their "Total Fuel/Environmental Recovery Fee" so $57.92 just to come pick up their empty cart and get out of their clutches! Ted's Trash Service rate for me is a straight $60 with no B.S. fees and they have picked up each week with no issues. I advise you to look into them instead of Republic!!! read more

Let me start by saying this is my first negative post on Yelp... I am a financial compliance director and know that most people seem to enjoy complaining. I usually use Yelp to give praise to places that I enjoy working with or visiting. This review is the opposite. Republic Service has offered the worse consumer experience short of literally spitting on me. I have been lied to... had the service I pay for laps for weeks... and been straight insulted. My trash was picked up once in January... I pay for weekly service... NOT MONTHLY. I report and nothing happens... BEWARE, BEWARE, BEWARE! This company is legit a fraud. I used them for normal house trash/recycle weekly pick up. They have it on their policy (read the fine print), when you stop services, they will still charge you and bill you through the end of that cycle. They make you pay for 3 months at a time, but for the upcoming 3 months. I cancelled after only using 1 month of that 3 months, and due to their holiday schedule, I could not reach them until the month switched over. Even though it was only 2 days into the month, they charged me for the whole month. Literally charged a whole month without them performing any service. If they miss a pickup, they will charge you a bulk pick up fee, to come pick up, even though they missed the pickup. They also hit you with a $30 container pickup fee when you stop services, cause they don't allow you to even drop off their containers. Don't choose them if you absolutely don't have to. I cancelled service with Republic due to our trash not being picked up on a regular basis. I was told there would be a $49.99 fee to pick up our bin. Although, that is exorbitant, it seemed well worth it to get rid of this poor service. They were to pick up our bin the following week, but it took closer to a month. I finally contacted their support rep and sent a picture of the bin turned upside down on our lawn, awaiting pick up. Since the time I have cancelled service, I have had invoices sent to me in wide and varying amounts. $ 14.01, $ 45.99, $65.00 and most recently $52.69. If I could give zero stars, I would. I used Republic for my residential trash service for over 6 months and my trash was only picked up on time about 4 times. I had to continually file missed pickup and just leave my trash out for multiple days, hoping that it would be picked up. It was only about a 50/50 shot if it did. Eventually I got so much trash piled up in my garage that I had to pay $100 to take it to the dump. I eventually ended up canceling my services and asked for a refund for the last month that I had paid for. They ended my services and said I would receive my refund, but a month later I still hadn't gotten it. I called again and was told the refund was never issued and that it will now take another 6 to 8 weeks to receive a refund check. New customer and not happy already. JUST moved to Raytown 3 weeks ago and ordered new service on July 28th. Paid an extra 38.50 for them to deliver the 98 gallon container with a $18 monthly fee ( with a 2 year service agreement which I don't mind since trash service is essential anyway). Service was supposed to start today however, they never delivered my trash container. When I called their customer service today I waited on hold for 20 minutes, the person who answered had a phone so choppy I could barely understand what she was saying, and then I was told my order was cancelled and SOMEONE LOCAL would return my call. I checked my bank account and the payment went through. I had questions about certain charges on my bill (that were OK once explained) but to get through to customer service or a person took me at least 50 minutes or maybe more. Tried to go online to send email but that was unsuccessful for one reason or another. Once I got through after wasting my time which is also valuable, I spoke with Jasmine who answered my questions, took my payment by phone was gracious and professional, after I unloaded on her for time on hold. After I explained that I had spent 4 hours at the DMV this morning I apologized and she understood. No other complaints about this company other than getting through to them if need be. read more
