I've had mixed interactions with Republic Services. Generally the trash is picked up on time and their pickup is not the cause of trash on my road. The time one of their trucks hit my mailbox, their staff handled the repairs politely, if a little slow. Job done well. Their administrative processes and training could be a lot better. I use their auto payment system tied to my credit card. I do this to minimize the time I spend paying bills. Apparently about three months ago my credit card declined the payment. I'm not sure why yet, but I've had it happen before and the reason was not always my fault. Anyway, I'm sure I got emails about this, but since when i do open emails from Republic, they say "Thanks for the payment". Since that missed payment, they have drawn three more payments, the latest just this week. This week I also got a call from them saying they'd be picking up my trash on Wednesday, which is a day late, so I said "thanks for telling me." Apparently the call was to tell me they were removing my trash bin, a 1.5 yard trash bin. I clearly misunderstood the call, the caller did not expand on the reason for the bin being picked up, or confirm that I understood they were picking up the bin, not the trash. When I called about the bin missing, I was told it was removed for non-payment, and when I asked why they had not just billed for the balance due when they took any of the next three payments. The answer didn't make sense, but I basically understood that is was because of processes internal to Republic. I talked to three people trying to get my bin returned ASAP, knowing since it was the Saturday before Christmas that I was tilting at windmills, and I got what I considered reasonable responses from the first two. The Senior Representative that I talked to about when I could get the bin delivered made me feel like she thought the situation was all my fault and not the fault of their system and processes, making me feel like she was annoyed with my call. Net net, I think I deserved and deserve a phone call on the topic of the bill before this bin removal. Mixed representative response. No action to make sure this does not happen again. read more

They automatically withdrew 4 months of billing from my account in the last five days, after I canceled their service, and was told I would be billed for one. I have been attempting to terminate my service since the 21st of September. I went to the Pine Street office. The staff was rude and indifferent but did appear to cancel my service. In October, I received another bill. No service, which was the reason I canceled, but a bill. Called customer service. Abilene had not forwarded the information to billing so no idea I had canceled. Would take care of it. Guess what--a payment for services not provided was taken out of my account. Your guidelines are attached. We are NEW customers in a GATED community that Republic has had the contract for over 10 years! Well THATS about to change since I've had NOTHING but issues with this company from day one!!!! I called and set up services and PREPAID for a 3 month window and today received an email that my account was 45 days past due for 96CENTS and my services are suspended!!!!! Tomorrow is trash day!!!! Well dam I can't believe I am writing a BAD review I literally never do but BUYER PLEASE BEWARE!!! DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT GET THIS SERVICE. I noticed all my neighbors had switch to CWS service so I called them and they were so proffessional and fast and they service is TOP NOTCH. Now I have been trying to CANCEL my service since October 18th, 2022. I called them and they said we will have an account manager call you. Her name is Amber she called me once and never again. Now they're saying I have to pay 6 months of liquidated damages for services I do not want. Not to Mention they didn't pick up my trash for a whole month! If I could give negative stars I would. My parents trash in Hermleigh, Tx hasn't been picked up since December 1. Multiple calls and complaints and speaking to supervisors gives me the same answer every time. "We will get it done by the end of today or in the morning" Dumpster is now full and no answers or reasons why. They just randomly stopped trash pickup to our entire neighborhood, but they didn't stop billing. Tried to call customer service but they do not pick up even after a 30min wait. This is a garbage company that truly is a GARBAGE business. If you are in areas surrounding Abilene use CWS instead. Seems to constantly be having problems with their trucks, their drivers, or "unforeseen circumstances" (their favorite excuse) to NOT come pick up your trash. Consistently (the only thing consistent about them) send out text messages or emails stating services will be delayed by "one day" and then not showing up at all until your next scheduled pick-up day a week later. Sometimes they pick up the trash early in the morning. Sometimes they pick up your trash late in the evening. Sometimes they just come pick it up the next day. It's trash pickup roulette! Not a very fun game to play. Recently added a 2nd trash can and was on the phone for just shy of an hour while I was transferred between 3 separate dept who each claimed their dept "wasn't responsible for that." Took 2 weeks to get the new trash can. I highly recommend you go with another provider (I don't know how many we have in Abilene) and avoid these yahoos. read more

I have not had my trash picked up for over three weeks. At one point we were told that the reason it was not picked up was because our canister had not been placed in an accessible location. We have a dumpster that has been sitting in the same location for 9 years. I am not moving nor can I move it 1/4 mile to the end of my driveway. I have called three times in the past 4 business days and they claim that they have scheduled a "missed pickup". We still have not had a pickup. The rancid rotting trash is becoming a hazard and a nuisance. We never had these kind of issues until Republic took over our trash service recently. The customer service department is poor to say the least, a minimum of 15 minutes on hold before someone answers. Last call was 27 minutes on hold then got handed off to 3 different people. They get 1 star because that is the lowest I am allowed to give. Today was our regular scheduled pickup AND a requested "missed pickup" service and still not picked up. ***Update - after another call to Republic on Wednesday because they failed to pickup on Tuesday, they showed up today (Thursday) and removed the dumpster. I was told that someone would call to schedule the removal of the dumpster (per corporate policy) at the end of the month. That's fine though, now I am done with them. Just have to figure out what to do with garbage until the new company sets a dumpster. Then, as a show of how little internal communication that there is at Republic, and hour later, a driver calls to say he is there for the missed pickup and can't find the canister. Hello, they just came and hauled it off. This was a relief driver from Midland and is the first driver to call to verify the location of the dumpster. I guess now I will see how they handle the pre-billed service and promised credit for the missed pickups. I hope to see a refund check coming soon but am not actually holding my breath. read more

Wish I could choose zero stars. Republic Services didn't pick up my trash two weeks in a row. I closed my account on the phone with their CSR, after a long, long wait. I stopped autopay, sent them an online message to stop taking my money and asked them to pickup their bin. They charged my bank account anyway, no response to my online communication, and the bin is still sitting out there on the street. Don't get sucked into this trashy company, they just can't clean up their act. read more

This happened a few weeks ago back in February but I was only reminded to write this after they finally came to pick up their trash container! This is a horrible company with even worse employees. This company bought our old company out and raised rates despite having even worse service! I called on behalf of my mother and I cause we are on on fixed income SSI and received a rate increase that we could not afford. I spoke with a very rude young lady named Amber in the Abilene office who took every opportunity to talk over me when I asked any questions. She said she needed to send emails to sign new contracts to secure a lower rate but she wouldn't stop talking over me as I tried to explain that I needed to have them sent via the postal service and had a few more issues. I had to take an aggressive tone with her and demanded to speak with her supervisor at which point she hung up the phone on me and simultaneously called me a b-tch as she did it! I'm willing to bet she didn't think I heard her but I did. I spoke with national customer service and they arranged to have their cans picked up but not before charging us an additional month because they have a 30 day advance cancel policy. What a rip off and what a rude employee! Go with CWS. Lower prices and friendlier customer service. read more

DON'T USE THIS COMPANY! IT IS HORRIBLE!!!!! If I could rate Republic Trash Services a negative ten I would. This company is not a local company. Don't call the number and expect a friendly, neighborhood customer service rep, despite the local phone number given on the website. I have received a bill which contained over $500 in incorrect charges. I have called FOUR separate times to have the amount removed. Each time the worker at the call center in Arizona tells me the amount is more than they are authorized to credit. They then inform me they have to create a ticket and send it on to "Division" for approval. Twice they have disconnected my service for the unpaid amount I don't even owe. As of today, I have received a final notice informing me that if it is not paid within 10 days, it will be sent to a collection agency. For an amount I DO NOT owe, and CANNOT get resolved due to very poor customer service. If there was a physical office to walk into, I would have already visited and had this situation resolved. But there isn't. If you go with this company know you will NEVER get hometown service like we are accustomed to in this part of Texas. And you better hope they don't add extra charges to your bill, because you can't get anyone to fix it for you. And then they'll send it to a collection agency and ruin your credit. I think what chaps my hide more than anything is the fact that I can't fire them! There ISN'T another trash company offering services in my area. So we're stuck with them! And by the way...I pay $70 for two barrels. YEP. You read that right. !!!!!!!!$70!!!!!!!! If you can figure out how to get rid of trash without using this company, then do it. I used this company for 10 years, as the person I bought my home from listed them as the local (Winters area) trash removal service. During the time I used them they kept raising their fees, "environmental fee," "fuel surcharge fee," etc. I noticed several years ago that in a bill they informed me that they were starting a "new service," where they were going to "clean" the trash container monthly. It was free like the first month or two, but then they would be adding a new "fee," for this service, unless cancelled. I called and told them I did not want the new "service," but noticed several months later that I had been charged for it. I called and they corrected it, and made a refund. I pay via an internet service and tried setting an automatic payment to cover it, but with the up and down of the charges had to keep increasing my payment to make sure it was covered. I finally set it so it was slightly positive. In July I finally decided to have another company take over. I called and was informed that they could not close the account until I had spoken with my "service representative, " who would call me in the next several days. I called back and insisted that their rep call back that day. He called, I closed the account, and he informed me that I had overpaid by over $1200.00. It took over a month and a half to get my refund, even with calling every two weeks. The day that I deposited their refund I came home to find a bill for $32.03 for pick up of their can! This is the WORST managed company I have used in my 66 years on this earth. Run, don't walk to another company!!!!! Update: My daughter was also upset by the above, so she emailed the company, and included the account number in her email. I see the reply by corporate. We have not heard back on her email. For the now attached response, I will include the two "reference numbers," I was given when I called ( 85473401, 85482069) and I will email also. Update two: I received a reply to my email, and they have resolved the issue, I responded to their response, and thanked them for their attention, hopefully future problems can be handled before it reaches this level. A dumpster was placed on my property without my permission. It has torn up my grass, caused my tree limbs to break (when serviced), amoung other property damages. I have been calling for over a month asking for the dumpster to be removed and it has yet to be done. My local Republic Services does not answer phones or return my calls including the supervisor. I have called the main numbers and each time they tell me it will be moved. It has yet to be moved off of my property. As damage to my property continues to happen. If unresolved soon I will have no choice, but to sue the company for failure to remove the dumpster and place it on the correct address of their client, the damages to my property and my attorney fees. I am extremely disappointed with the lack of action taken to correct this problem and that this dumpster has been dropped off, continually serviced, and left to remain and cause damage to my property. read more
