A girl greets me and says it's going to be a few minutes if I want to look around As I am waiting she pulls out every album and checks them. A few minutes later this dude looks through my albums. She says to the other employee "most of them look okay" He Hands one back to me and offers me $5. I was so confused and responded I don't know what you're talking about I'm just trying to buy these. They both apologized and looked shocked. Then when she rings me out she charged me $1 for the .25 cent record he refused to take! It's just odd they both downgraded the albums and then argued about the priceI was trying to BUY from them. Anyway I still bought them. Support Local Businesses.

This store is a top tier, independently owned place that people should be lining up for. Her selection of new books is fantastic and her knowledge is second to none. I can't wait to come back to Gathering Volumes and buy more books and if you're reading this review stop what you're doing and go inside. From very young to full grown adult you will find a book worth reading or remembering. If I could give this place more than five stars I would.

This place is a mess! Stacks of books block the genre labels above the shelves, and even the new…read morebooks sections are untidy! Is this supposed to look rumpled and cool somehow? The lone teenage staff member did not greet me, and even put on big headphones for good measure. Having said that, I like their style of having many different new books, rarely seen at other bookstores, available, but in many cases just one of each title. There's nothing more boring than going to the classics section and seeing fifteen different publications of Little Women. Their used books (in the way back by the restroom) seem a lot cleaner and newer than is typical for a used bookshop, which was nice.

Initial review after one visit is 4 stars...although honestly I'm not too impressed with some…read morethings, overall there was a very strong selection. What made me cringe? It made me feel like a standard comic book shop you see on tv - a very sexist promotion of sexualized women. In the poster section, there's a gorgeous Psyloche poster...except for how it tries to center and show off her butt and Venus mound with just a slim piece of fabric. There are other hyper sexualized posters of women in comics...and then real women scantily clad like I'm in a teenage boy's (or drunken frat guy's) room. Next to the posters is a drawn pin-up against 'censorship' with the woman's nipples poking out so hard it could take an eye out. By the new comics, there's more drawn pin-up art. Like...so skeevey and clearly the owner doesn't realize how many women read comics? U G H. The good parts that made it so I won't nuke this review (so tempting tho): - it's locally owned - located in sylvania which doesn't have that much - walls are covered with back issues, art, and many collectible toys. - bins and bins of older comics - good variety of new comics There does seem to be a lot of focus on DC/Marvel, but there are some other publishers located. I'll return again to give it another try; I was there for 20 minutes and still hadn't looked at everything. But if I lived here, I would not be a regular subscriber, because the environment is not friendly to me.

Greeted by a friendly and helpful young lady who answered all our questions. I loved the atmosphere and overall vibe. I found a cool book on the Songbirds of North America with a disk of actual songs. There are plenty of books to browse through and the prices are very reasonable. My only complaint by my sister was no database to assist in the search, but I was okay as I enjoyed perusing the shelves. Will be back !!!
