Hub Sports is located in the recently updated downtown core of Abbotsford. Hub Sports is a business that provides all of this and more. It's not a large location, however Hub manages to pack a great deal of well organized gear between its walls. Prices are reasonable, however the free advice is worth a few dollars mark up on some of their gear, when compared against some of the big box retailers. If you just want to fool around fishing, by all means go to Wal-Mart, and spend $60.00 on a rod / reel combo. However if you want some friendly old guy to give you a basic run down of what lures / bait to use for what species of fish you're after, go to Hub. The old timers may even share a few secret fishing locations with you, if you're personable.

On this stop, I was seeking a jacket -- a 'shell-type', heavy enough for fall wear, but roomy enough to accommodate a heavy sweater, vest, or such for winter wear. I really liked the styles and qualities of what they had to offer, but try as I did, just could not catch a size to properly fit me. Will catch another look or two before fall sets in, and check on what might be available. Plus, my eyes caught some 'sandals' during this stop, and they definitely need a closer, second look, and try-on. Total shopping interests at a shop like 'Hope Outdoors' are on the rather narrow side for me now. But I really like to browse this wonderful shop in Hope, even if it is just to soak in the 'feel' I get, and 'memories' it provides of many past, and wider outdoor interests, and experiences. I found a really nice set of buoyant glass floats for only $12.95 (found the same one online for $40)! Went back a few times to this store to pick up more items to bring back to friends. Their prices are lower than most souvenir shops and the couple who manages the store are locals who are friendly and very helpful. They did not hesitate to recommend points of interests and restaurants to try. They like tourists!

I am…read morecurrently visiting Abbotsford from the island and know the local store in the Comox Valley, so I was excited to see this one on my travels today. After doing business in the other store, I came to visit Valhalla and I was greeted by Markus who ended up being fantastic to me. He helped me look for a particular type of pants that I was looking for, and although they did not have it, he suggested some brands that may carry the hiking pants that I wanted. Later on, I was looking at the shoes and he came by and pointed out some that were on sale from last season and I ended up buying a pair of hiking sandals that I absolutely love. He helped me try them on and I knew immediately they were coming home with me. The store has a huge selection of outdoor stuff and I will definitely be buying more from them in the future.
