Not sure what the Hype was about this place. Read many positive reviews but very misleading. I can deal with the slower service, part of living country life, but the fried seafood and appetizers where bland and highly disappointing. Can't say I was fond of any of the food. I have a very large family, paid my $130+ bill and won't ever be back. Beware of the positive reviews. There is a reason this place is way off the beaten path. Primarily a good place to just drink a beer and have low bar quality food. However the fresh pork rinds are good. read more

Wonderful countryside general store restaurant good home cooking. Also a good place for an afternoon beer.

Took some time to drive there from Sugar Land. The parking lot was packed with cars around the Repka's store. This is due to KPRC2 broadcast of the store on Bucket List. There was a long wait(20 minutes) to get our order in. There were about another long wait for the food. One of my son received his order first, 3lbs crayfish with corn and red potatoes and the rest of our orders arrived in 15 minutes. The plates were large portion and the fried oysters were very good. Always enjoy this place. Good food and great atmosphere. The prices are reasonable and the food always taste great. Truly a hidden treasure and a staple for the area! The only reason for 4 out of 5 stars is the old dingy interior but that also makes this place truly a hole In the wall, back road must stop. The food is amazing! The interior and exterior Lon like a place you would see on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. Don't let the visuals turn you away from this place. We started with the boudin balls. They were fantastic! The boudin was like the ultimate comfort food. We also got the pork cracklings. Those were great (just not for those who have texture issues with foods, like my youngest). 3 of us got the bayou platter and 1 got the gulf platter. There was so much food on the bayou platter that we had no choice but to bring home the extra alligator and crawfish. The Navy bean side tastes amazing as well. The jalapeño hush puppies work well with crawfish and catfish. We couldn't have been more happy finding this place today. read more

Small country bar/restaurant/grocery store with awesome crawfish. Animals out back with live crawfish boil. This small place is located a mile or two southwest of FM359 and FM529, just north of Brookshire. You will see small white signs with pictures of crawfish on FM359, FM529 and highway 90 that will lead you to Repkas. If there is no parking in front, go around to the side, where there is plenty of parking. Inside, you will find a small grocery store on the right. To the left, there is a bar area that doubles as a restaurant. There is another seating area with large tables towards the back, and picnic tables outside in the back if the weather is nice. The only bad things about Repka's is the restroom and the slow service. Half the time when I go to the restroom, the urinals are plugged-up. This isn't Buc-ees restroom quality, so don't walk around barefoot. At least it's better than a porta potty, just not so much. The servers are very friendly, and Repka's tends to overwork them. As a result, don't expect to get served very quickly on a busy day. In fact, a sign in the front will tell you that it may take an hour to order during busy times. On a weekend, it is best to arrive in the middle of the afternoon. My family likes to visit Repka's as soon as crawfish season starts. Just the right amount of spice at a great price. On our last visit, we paid $30 for 6 pounds of tasty crawfish. There's nothing better than sitting at Repka's with hot, fresh crawfish, a Shiner Bock, a few potatoes and corn on the cob. My wife likes ordering hush puppies as an appetizer, but I tend to order the delicious boudin balls. The boudin balls are large and crispy. On our last visit, we shared some awesome bread pudding after finishing our meal. The cool thing about Repka's is that you can stroll outside the back of the restaurant and see some peacocks in a cage. You can also see the cookers boiling the next batch of crawfish. I was camping at Stephen F. Austin State Park and got hungry for BBQ. I fired up Yelp, but didn't see anything that peaked my interest. Instead, I just asked for restaurants near me, and Repka's came up. It was supposed to be in Brookshire. I looked over the menu and got drawn in by all the awesome Cajun listings. I told Siri to get directions and it claimed it was 11 miles away. That didn't seem like too far to go, so I headed off. I noticed right away that Siri wasn't taking me in the direction of Brookshire. But, not being familiar with the area, I went ahead and let it guide me. After about five miles, it told me to turn left onto Buller Road, which the website said was the right street. However, this Buller Road was in the middle of nowhere! I was pretty sure Siri steered me wrong. About five miles later, there sits Repka's on the left side of the road. It seriously is in the middle of nowhere. The inside of the place is full-scale Texas honkytonk heaven. It's decorated with dollar bills that people have signed and stuck all over the place. My table had a huge red crawfish painted on it! The only thing I didn't like, and it cost them a star, was the bad air conditioning. It was really hot! The server came to me right away and took my drink order. When she brought me my ice-cold Corona with salt and lime, she took my food order. I wanted to try everything, but it just wasn't possible. The place is known for its crawfish, but I knew going in that it was out of season. I ordered the small portion of red beans and rice to start. It was very good, but needed some salt. That was no problem, as I prefer to add my own salt to that kind of thing. Nothing worse than overly salted beans. I also ordered a boudin ball. I was a little concerned because they brag about not using organ meats in their boudin. I'm kind of an offal fan. But, the boudin ball was great. I decided I was going to order some more to eat for dinner that night. That was before the fried alligator plate came. That plate was supposed to have 20 pieces of alligator. I didn't count them, but what I was served was nowhere near 20. The plate had a heaping pile of alligator nuggets that covered half of it. I'd say there were closer to 75 of them. The other half of the plate was covered with a mound of perfectly cooked french fries that could've fed a family of four! On top of that, they gave me a small bowl of cream gravy and a piece of Texas toast! I ended up taking most of the plate home for dinner. I don't know what to say about fried alligator. I always like eating it, but I can't say it has any special taste. I think it all depends on the skills of the cook when it comes to batter/breading and spices. This was really tasty. I'll definitely be back to Repka's next time I go camping at SFASP. I'll have to make sure to go during crawfish season, because they have some great items on the menu like boiled crawfish, crawfish boudin, fried crawfish, and crawfish etouffee. I'd also like to try one of their fried fish platters. They have several possible combinations. Oh, I forgot. While I was there, my favorite Patsy Cline song started playing. I almost never get to hear You're Stronger Than Me. I took it as a sign. My visit to Repka's was meant to be! read more

Since 1986, to Rickey and Barbara you are like family. There are places that have great food, others 5 star service and others trade on their atmosphere and past. Repka's will win you over with their great food, reasonable prices, shell parking lot hominess and an attitude that is more of a memory than reality. We love to go here and just relax as you talk with people of all ages at the adjoining tables. My in laws took me here for a crawfish dinner earlier in the year. It was strange because I've been with my wife for 15 years and we visit the are multiple times a year and this is the first time we ever came here to eat. When you walk in, this place seems like a throwback. It's kind of restaurant, bar, recreation area. Anyway, back to the crawfish, they were tasty and had a nice kick to it. I wish they did not sell their drinks per drink, but everything else is extremely reasonable. This restaurant is family friendly. They have pool tables and arcade games for children to play. If you like beer, you can purchase beer by the bucket. If you want crawfish this is the place. I would call ahead of time to verify the time they serve crawfish and if they have any. My wife and I opted to try this place today after church. We had seen it on the show Texas Bucket List just yesterday evening. Many folks we spoke to were there because they too had seen it show cased on that show. Bottom line they were caught off guard by the turnout. However, yes we waited a bit longer than we'd like, but the food was very good, our waitress Ryane was super and overall it was a nice experience. I know crawfish season can be a very busy time for Repka's but what I experienced today was unacceptable. We got to the restaurant at 1:00. We had to wait 15 minutes before we got menus or drinks. Once we placed our order, we had to wait almost 2 hours. The servers came by once to refill our drinks. Once our food arrived the cold boiled shrimp was warm and the étouffée was cold. We were very disappointed in the quality of the food. Once we were ready to leave, we had to wait 20 minutes to check out. One waitress apologized for the wait but other than that, nothing. People were getting up and leaving with no explanation . I would not recommend going to this restaurant. read more

Huge letdown! We can't review the food because, well...IT NEVER ARRIVED! We got there around 130 today. We had to find menus because no one came by our table for about 25 mins. Once we were able to place our order, the waitress came back about 20 mins later to say they didn't have one of the items ordered. She also mentioned they had two large parties that just left, so everything was taking longer. Fine - we decided to wait it out. She never said how long. An hour later we are still waiting for our food. We'd been there almost 2 hours. We didn't see the waitress again after she took our order the 2nd time. Tables around us had not received their food either. We decided to leave when the female employee in the "Texas Chica" shirt was awfully rude to a family we shared a long table with. He asked about their order and she said "I told you it would be 30 minutes and that was 5 minutes ago". Umm, no ma'am. That is not how you speak to guests who have been waiting 2 hours for their lunch. As we were leaving, there were at least 10 people waiting in line to pay. This place needs some serious help. I know they've been around forever, but this is not attracting new guests. Unfortunately, we will not be driving 40 minutes to give this place a second try. I may have found my new favorite place for crawfish. I will definitely be back a few more times before the season is over. Trust me, its worth the drive. They have a large indoor dining area but we opted to sit outside (beautiful day with a nice breeze). They have a covered area behind the restaurant. I always enjoy dining outdoors, plus the added bonus of spice in the air as they cook the crawfish outback. The crawfish were fantastic. They were hot and spicy. Probably some of the spiciest that I have ever tried. Yum! Only $4.99 a pound. I haven't seen them this cheap anywhere else this year. If your not craving the craw, they have lots of other options on the menu. We did get an order of fried pickles, pipping hot served with ranch for dipping. Bummer Trip to Repka's for Crawfish. Will never return!!! We saw a review from a fellow Yelper which gave this place a 5 star. We checked out their website and menu and everything looked good. So we were waiting to make the 110 mile round trip to Repka's and supposedly get some awesome crawfish. This place is in the sticks and it wasn't a scenic drive. Three reviews said get there early because the line is out the door if you come late. Well we got there late afternoon and there were only 2 couples eating and some people playing pool. I asked the server if something was wrong because no one was hardly here. I said I read to come early because you can have a long wait. She said it gets busy around 5 pm. I asked how big the crawfish were. She told me I could go outside and look at them in the tank. So I went outside and saw that the crawfish were medium to large in size. Some were upside down not moving. I asked the guy in the back why some weren't moving and he said they were frozen. Anyway I came back in and ordered 3 lbs and hubby ordered the fried crawfish platter. What I received a minute or so after ordering were smaller crawfish which almost all had black bottoms. They were very mushy, hard to peel and the CRAWFISH MEAT WAS EXTREMELY DRY - NO MOISTURE TO THEM! Crawfish are suppose to have a sweet and succulent meat. I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED SUCH MUSHY, DRY AND BLACK BOTTOMED CRAWFISH IN THE 20 YEARS I HAVE BEEN EATING THEM. I asked the server if they were dead when they cooked them, she said no. I asked the server for butter and rec'd something liquid yellow and cold. Real butter that cold would have congealed. Also rec'd their supposed hot sprinkle powder which wasn't spicy. Hubby ordered the fried crawfish platter. He rec'd big barely seasoned fried tails on top but heavily breaded little crumbles of crawfish underneath. His fries were white and limp and his Texas toast was unevenly toasted with no butter or seasoning on it. Hubby said he would rate them 1 star that's how bad it was. I would be embarrassed to recommend this place to anyone. Don't know what went wrong but too many issues to give it a second try. Hubby wanted to pay cash. I was so uneasy with the dark mushy crawfish I just ate I told hubby we need to pay with credit card in case I get sick. Didn't get sick but seriously disappointed. My parents recently moved out to Richmond and we've been hearing the buzz about this place for a while and decided to check it out last crawfish season. We were SO impressed!! This place cooks crawfish and fixins' all day. They are nice and spicy and the family is already talking about when we are going to go back!! They also have numerous fried seafood options and they are great to. Be sure to check out the website and print out a map or else you will never find the place. Most navigation systems don't even show these roads. It is truly out in the sticks but totally worth it!! read more

Have you ever been to Repka's maybe not, because I never been and that's why I'm doing a Yelp now you can go. This little out of the way hidden gem on the back side of Waller County in Sunnyside TX or Brookshire TX or close to I-10 or somewhere in between was a big surprise to me and my motor cycle friends who are always looking for curved roads for free spirits to ride on. This place mostly has seafood dishes and with that being said some pretty good mud bugs. I had a steak and if you ever read any of my post you know I don't try steak often at blind spots, but to much of my surprise it was pretty good. No doubt it wasn't Houston's but definitely will give Texas Road House a run for its money. Friends I was with also had boudin, fried fish and pork cracklins that I nabbed a few of and they were damn good I think I will rename them crack cracklins. I gave this place a 4 because it was good service even though Covid -19 is taking a big chunk of their business. This virus is killing more than people, but on this day I was happy that me and 10 friends could give back. You would think that space is at a minimum in Texas (that is the furthest from the truth) but it seems maybe this place was a grocery store first and they just expanded into a bar then they went even further and put long tables that are very reminscent of cafeteria tables - then they expanded into booths... Question 2: What made you drive from my neck of the woods, Katy, to all the way their for crawfish & octopus? It was recommended by a new friend and then I yelped it and history was born. It isn't that far actually, in the whole Texas scheme of things. The calamari were the biggest things I have ever seen in my life. I seriously thought that they made a mistake and brought me onion rings but the chewy-ness dismissed that thought and I had to admit that it even the SQUID is bigger in Texas. Such a special place. Me and my husband have been coming here to eat on occasion for about 15 years, brought the kids out here when they were little and now we are empty nesters and still loving it. This is my new favorite place for crawfish. I am not sure what they did different but wow. They cook the corn and potatoes separate so they don't have they same spice flavor which actually works really well. The corn was very sweet and gave a great contrast in flavor. I also had the boudin balls which were large but could have used a little more seasoning, There are many pool tables and while at first glance it may appear as an ice house, it is family friendly. If you like crawfish this is the only place you need to go during crawfish season. They are the best in Texas. They also have a full menu and friendly staff.
