If you ask me, one star is too kind for this business. Not for this nightmare Ive endured. If reading isnt your thing, just scroll to last paragraph.
I was on a short vacation when my phone took a dip in ocean water for a mere 4 seconds. I panicked but was somewhat hopeful since I've heard some success stories from incidents like mine. I scoured online for companies who specialized in water damage repairs on phones and I found this place. They were quite consistent in their advertising of having water damage on their repair specialties and had a website so I gave it a shot. Then the nightmare began...
I go there the day after i arrive from my trip Thurs Jul 28 (two days after incident with phone) and explain the situation. I ask them to please, please, please call me just to let me know whether it is fixable or not. This way I could know what to do next and plan accordingly in case i have to buy a new phone, or adjust my business plans. i expressed how important it was to me that they just let me know if it was fixable. They acknowledged that and assured me I was in good hands and was told i would get a call the very next day. So I wait. No call. I figure maybe they got backed up with repairs and gave them another day. When it got to the early eve on Sat Jul 30, I called them myself on a borrowed non smartphone..the same phone whose number I gave so they can reach me. I get replies and expressions of shock that i didn't get called and that they would have the repair guy call me the next day. So I wait...and wait. It is Wednesday Aug 3 now. I decide to call no answer. I must soon return the borrowed phone. My work is already starting to be affected drastically because I cannot connect with clients. I try to remain optimistic thinking maybe they found a way to fix it and are working on it. I cant travel to them since my schedule that week doesn't allow me to before their closing hour. So I wait some more. No call. No messages. Nada.
Monday Aug 8 rolls around. I had to return the phone I borrowed the night before. So I go to the store since there is now no way to be in contact. I am not exactly in the mood you would be in after receiving a bottle of your favorite wine and am doing my best to curb my frustration. I insist on answers on why I haven't gotten any calls. They tell me the repair guy is out and to come back the next day. Then another worker there has the audacity to tell me "well we have other things to fix, were not dropping everything else just to take care of your item..you gotta wait" I respond telling him that all i wanted was a phone call so i could plan accordingly. His response : "oh". So I come back the next day on Tuesday Aug 9th. They remember and recognize me now. Guess what I'm told? "The repair guy is using the bathroom for 10 minutes...doing what, only the lord knows. Unreal. So I stand and wait..and wait. He finally comes out and i waste no time demanding answers for his incompetence. Here is the pile of horse manure i got: "Oh i called one time but i don't like to leave messages. I don't do the voicemail thing". Right after he said that, I had to take a mental moment to find my happy place. I know he likely never called, and if he did, what kind of business does that when calling to give a repair status or a important message that was expected. he then looks at my phone and says he probably cant fix it since it is water damaged. But...but..isn't that what their company advertises? On their site, online ads, right in front of the store??? Dozens of memes can be found to describe the confusion in my mind. The manager doesn't seem to be keen on checking his repair guy on poor business practices and takes the situation much less seriously than he should have. i doubt he cared at all. I take my phone and leave that store. Heavily disgusted, irate, and annoyed...with the time lost and wasted, with the disgustingly unprofessional service I was given, and with the task of planning my next options now when i could of taken care of that over a week ago.
I highly do NOT recommend this business. When he was looking for my phone, he didn't know where it was immediately. No sincerity whatsoever. If they say they cant do what they they clearly advertise don't waste your time. Take the trip to Manhattan if you can to get a decent repair business. read more
