Continuing my all asian Düsseldorf experience I was craving Sushi (again!) tonight.
Since I was dining out all week already I decided to give it a break, and look for a suishi take out but the place where I originally wanted to go was already sold out and closed.
Lucky for me Renya passed my way and I decided to skip the take out an just dine in. Since being on my own I got seated at the counter which really had two sides to it.
Pro: It felt like a really authentic japanese street kitchen experience (though I've never been to Japan so this feeling is really only a picture of my imagination), sitting close - almost inside the kitchen seeing your dinner getting prepared.
Con: right as in immediatley in front of you is not the stove but the sink - so you actually see more washing up and dirty dishes that sushi rolls and grilled meat. It smelled good though :)
For the food I put my original sushi craving aside and went for a bowl of "Salmon Mayo Don" which turned out to be flame-kissed salmon paired with avocado, sushi rice and miso soup on the side.
The food was pretty good - though not totally over the top. What did bother me though was the size of the portion. For a price of 14€ i did expect more that a bowl with mostly rice and thinly cut salmon.
To be fair - i am really jealous of other peoples food and the plates around me looked pretty awesome. Especially the grilled meat looked delicious. Maybe this was just not the best choice on the menu and the rest is awesome.
I would sure give it another try! I think you should too :) read more
