Being a business owner I think very hard about writing a negative review for another company. I called once today and it is the one and only interaction I expect to have with Rent A John. From the beginning to the end of the call the man on the phone seemed upset like I was purposely not able to answer his questions the way he wanted them, asked me why this was so difficult when I thought I was answering as quickly and accurately as I could. We work with three other sanitation companies across the bay and I call them multiple times a week and have never had a problem. I decided it wasn't going to be a good working relationship and called another toilet company. I hope others don't have this experience but I have a hard time thinking this was very personal as I felt it before I said a word on the call. read more

We were having absolutely great service and the unit was great, no complaints there! In the past couple weeks somebody forgot to provide maintenance service for a long stretch. This was not a big issue and should have been easily resolved with a phone call. I've had to call twice to check up on the issue and both times I've called to make sure we were in the maintenance rotation, the person on the phone was very unpleasant. Talking to this person feels combative and like a painful slog. I also tried leaving a message on a third occasion with address and account info and instead of just resolving it or looking into it before they got back to me, I just got a voicemail back with their phone number. Customer service could definitely be improved here. I hope they continue to provide the excellent, regular service we had at the beginning so we don't ever have to call back. read more

I rented a deluxe toilet for our engagement party in Santa Rosa in August (70 people). They were very professional over the phone and gave me pricing and assistance with deciding on the right toilet. The porta potty was clean and well stocked. They delivered on time and placed it exactly where I wanted (even without me being there). The only thing I would have liked done was for them to remove the plastic wrap around the paper towels, it was a little hard to get off without having a key to the dispenser. I rented a tank from them for my rv. I went with them because of their good reviews. Never showed up when scheduled. So I had another company empty the tank. Rent a john never billed me. Then 5 month later I get a call demanding money said I didn't pay my bill from 5 months before. Never got a bill to pay. Then a few months later I got a bill for over 6 months of dumping. I called and said I have been using another company which they then confirmed. I said if you want to bill me the start charging me for the tank rental, I wanted to be honest. So I then got via email bills for the tank rental which I had pickup up. done dealing with them. bTW $300 due in 30 days or get changed late fees. Sent in check and guess what 30 days later they still haven't cashed it. Not sure what I did to get such bad service. Believe me, gave them 3 opportunities to preform services. Not one time did they show up on time. I mean not even the same week. read more

I shopped around for a porto potty and these guys were heads and tails above the rest in terms of price and service. Super nice, courteous, inexpensive, no BS. I give the guy points for simply being honest, finding the right option for me, and having a generally much better attitude than the others. I gotta say that as an aside, the Mill Valley Refuse guys (that I got another quote from) have never been anything than short and almost rude. You can tell they do not give a hoot about service or anything else for that matter. I've experienced the same bad attitude about their garbage service here in MIll Valley. They know they have you over a barrel and they frankly act like that. These guys on the other hand were the opposite with something as simple as this porto potty. I needed to rent a john for a big backyard event at the last minute. These guys were great! Most other places I called were out of state and required 48 hours notice. Also, none of the others actually answered the phone! It was super to talk to a real person and find their rates were also better than the big online companies. *Yelp censored my review of this place when I gave it 5 stars, therefore I have to give it a 4 but I do mean to give them 5* I thought that renting a porta potty for my wedding was going to ruin the whole thing, but I was pleasantly surprised at how great it turned out. I would recommend these guys to everyone! They really do listen to what you need and go the extra mile to make sure your special day is hassle free. I rented a couple of portable toilets for my wedding, to which I have to say I was not happy about in the first place! I was dreading getting these things! I called around a few places and just felt like no one cared about what I wanted. When I was about to give up my husband to be gave me one last number to try. I tried them, and a woman answered, i thought, Thank God someone that will understand! She was very helpful in answering all my questions and concerns. She even informed me that each toilet is sanitized before each delivery! She took down all my information and read it back to me to make sure everything I wanted was there. They called 1 hour before delivery and when they arrived they were patient while we changed our mind 3 times of where we wanted the toilets. After starting to unload the toilets they even surprised me with a sink, for free! The toilets were the "lovely" aqua color, not my favorite but better than orange I guess. The delivery guys did give me a few tips/permission to disguise them. They smelled great for the whole event which surprised me because I've been to a few concerts before and it's usually unbearable.
