The campground has lots of rules, which I understand given that it's meant to be for families with younger kids. One of the rules states that use of MJ is prohibited unless for medical use. When we checked in I made a point of stating that one member of our group was disabled and relied on prescribed medical cannabis. I was told that if they were to smoke it they had to go off the property as there was no smoking of cannabis allowed. But smoking regular cigarettes anywhere outside is okay. I went by later to confirm I'd heard right and also mentioned that a person can't be discriminated against because of medical conditions or disability, which this constitutes, and suddenly one of the owners (wife) was both a doctor and a pharmacist and said they could take edibles or oils but vapes or smoking weren't allowed anywhere because it would disturb other campers. But again, cigarettes are fine. The member of our party then went in later to talk to the owner, mentioning that this was both against Provincial Law and the HRC. The owner refused to relent and they came back to the trailer very distraught. They were treated like a villain and leper because of the medicine they were prescribed by their doctor. This unfortunately put a damper on our trip since one of the group was in constant pain and in order to be able to take their meds they had to walk off the property (we were right in the middle). Defeats the purpose when they have mobility issues. Serves me right for giving them a heads up I guess. I just didn't want them freaking out if they smelled MJ. Wish I hadn't said anything so they could cause a ruckus and call the cops or try and kick us out. Unfortunately we were there with 2 kids and, both of us being parents, put their happiness first and didn't want to cause them any distress. Next time we go there we won't back down on this.

The camp sites have sand boxes for your tents. We rented one of the cabins this time which made it really easy for use to relax and not have to worry about our toddler and infant. In our cabin we had a wash room, deck and bar-b-que. Our 3 year old made lots of friend here during our 3 day stay. This has been our second time here and we will be coming again soon. If have kids between 2-12 years of age this is a great place. 45 minute drive from Ottawa.

I participated in the 'Life on a Ranch' program and it certainly did live up to my expectations. Trail guides and program leaders were very knowledgeable and friendly and answered all my questions without judgement. The horses are very well looked after and so are the guests. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to own a horse, this program will enlighten you to all the aspects of 'ranching'. Christine

It's difficult to fully review the "parks" - so this review will focus on the Equestrian Park. The parks have an interesting history - the National Equestrian Park was the first iteration with construction starting in 1974 via a lease of the lands by the City of Ottawa. In 2012, the city gave up the lease. The land use was up in the air for a few years, until a new lease was awarded to Wesley-Clover Foundation - my best guess was in or around 2018. Over the past several years, incremental improvements have been made. Was out there today and it is looking beautiful. The grounds are in great shape, the show rings are beautifully groomed and the cross-country area was gorgeous. Not sure what the riders thought of the course, but from a spectator point of view, I was able to see 80% of the course from my chosen vantage point. (The one draw back to this course is how flat it is - but you can't have everything!) In addition to the grounds improvements, there is now what seems to be a semi-permanent café for special events with typical horse-show foods (coffee, grilled food - like grilled cheese, pastries) - and another Coffee trailer was also on the grounds (with delicious butter tarts by the way), so I hope this trend keeps up. I was there for a Horse Trial, which tends to be lower key than Hunter Jumper, Stadium Jump and Dressage - I can only imagine that more horse-related vendors show up at the bigger shows. Very glad to see such great things happening here.

Around Christmas they hold "Magic of Lights" at Wesley Clover Park. This year it is November 21,…read more2019 - January 4, 2020, every night 5pm-10pm. Magic of Lights is a drive through light display. It's $20-30 a car, depending on day of the week (more expensive on weekends) and method of payment (cheaper if you buy in advance online, more expensive if you pay cash at the entrance). You can also tune into MAJIC 100.3 FM on your radio to hear Christmas music while you drive through the lights show. I did Magic of Lights with my husband and father-in-law. It was fun to do once, but I don't think that I would do it again, especially considering the cost. They had different themes through the display such as fairy tales/nursery rhymes, Nativity scene, the 12 Days of Christmas, Christmas around the world, and a few others. I think its something I would have enjoyed more if I was a kid. I have never been to Wesley Clover Park except for the Magic of Lights. However, the park is a campground. You can also do cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, field sports, and horseback riding there too.
