Owner (pictured) has a severe temper issue--I urge you to find someplace else and wish someone had warned me before my mother and I were harassed and humiliated. Seems like I'm not the only one based on other reviews. I had several reasonable inquiries regarding restoring my boots (replacing buttons, installing heel taps, etc). With each subsequent question he began to seethe more and more, giving me halfhearted, unhelpful answers and blowing me off. I thought it was bizarre but upon being ready to literally pay up, something snapped in this man and he threw my boots back and yelled at me and my mom, refusing service. Who knew asking shoe-related questions to a cobbler was sacrilegious? I have never witnessed this level of unprofessional behavior, fury, and impatience from a grown man and am honestly still at a loss of words. I'm so glad I did not trust this man with my shoes and will happily be taking my business elsewhere. Buyer beware! read more

Be careful. My family has taken several shoes here in the past couple of months. He had done good work with no concerns. However, I picked up the last pair of shoes I took in and they looked worse than when I brought them. When I asked what happened, he got very defensive and quite rude. I was surprised by his response given the business had such high ratings so I read the Yelp reviews and I saw similar comments. While my family won't return, my advice to others if you choose to do business here is to ask questions about whether the shoe can be fixed without making them looking worse. Though, other reviews suggest he doesn't like you to ask questions either. I would not have spent the money to repair the shoes had I known. read more

Took my wife's Hokas in for repair. We are gentle on shoes and are often asked by close friends are our shoes new. He obviously has his hands full as I walk in and I could barely see him from the shoes he had piled up in front of him on the counter. He asked me how old the shoes were and I said a few months. He said no way that they are a few months. Not sure if he's a historian of some type or a shoe repair person. In fact he told me that they looked older than a few months. I took the shoes home and glued them with a gorilla glue. It worked perfectly!! It's been 3 weeks since the repairs and they are holding up beautifully! I'll post a pic of them soon read more

Just used Renew for the first time, to resole a pair of Allen Edmonds dress shoes. Wow, outstanding job! Used to use a different shoe repair store, until it changed ownership and the quality went down. Tried Renew based on other Yelp reviews. Great repair job. New soles look thicker than other repair jobs from other vendors. Quality was fantastic. Tried the resoled shoes on, and they felt just as comfortable as before (not the case with the other vendor, where the shoes just felt tight afterwards). This is now my go-to shoe repair shop. The owner is a very nice person, but did not repair my shoes as he said he would. The color of the heel and sole is a dark brown now. He showed me a piece of leather (wood look grain which is on the heel of my shoe). He made be believe he was going to replace the outside of the heel with it. When I picked the shoes up, he had only glued the bad places down and then painted the heel a dark brown (which is not the original color). He would not even listen to me when I was asking questions as to why he didn't use the leather he showed me. Lack of English and miscommunication?? Not a good listener and does not do what he says he will do. I was very disappointed. read more

I took my pair of Tory Burch sandals to Renew that I was worried were beyond repair. They were extremely worn and had cracked leather and Danny repaired them perfectly. I am solely writing a review on his customer service. I went in to purchase heel tips. I am visiting from out of town and I had no other shoes to wear since my heel tips broke. I asked if he sold them and he automatically answered with an attitude and the ugliest face saying I don't know what I'm talking about and I cannot replace it myself. I then told him I've done it before and I just need the tips since I cannot take my shoes off right there to give to him without being barefoot. He then continues to speak down on me while shaking his head saying I still don't know anything. I am sorry, he may do great work from what I've read so like I said. I am solely leaving a review on his customer service and maybe it's the language barrier, but he definitely needs to work on his customer service. read more

I have visited twice, once for 2 pair of dress shoes to be shined and another for shoe shine/heel replacement, and squeak fix. Both times were reasonably priced ($7 per pair for shoe shine and $30 for the 1 pair to be shined/heel replaced, and squeak fix). The turn time is really fast given the amount of business Danny gets. He appreciates giving him more time but will work with you based on your availability. I plan to use this place for all my dress shoes in the future. read more

I saw a glimpse of what another reviewer had mentioned on customer service. In speaking of my experience only, he is genial if you are a customer that simply walks in asking for a repair, have it done, and return for pick-up with no questions asked. I asked a simple question on the workmanship as the lower sole was not even with the upper in a small area. He raised his voice and acted as if I had insulted him. I'm not sure if he is accustomed to being 'questioned' on his work. After he realized that I am not one to go back and forth arguing, he calmed his tone. I asked him to explain the fault. Upon doing so, I fully understood that it was a previous person's work that had caused it and not something he could rectify without deforming the shoe. Although I treat shoe repair as a skilled profession, it is not rocket science to understand what goes into a repair, when explained. We could have saved a couple of minutes, if he had kept an even tone. On another note, I am a person that likes to know all of my options going into something whether a repair on shoes, a car, or otherwise. He made another point about my shoes, after the repair, that referenced the poor workmanship done by the other person. It was not something that could be repaired. I believe that he thought he was doing me a favor by addressing the one repair to make the shoes "wearable" and therefore saving me the cost of buying new shoes. However, I would have preferred to make that decision. I might have chosen to discard the shoes and buy new ones. I do not place major fault in him attempting to "save me expense", but I did let him know that, in the future, I would prefer to know all of my options up front as I was not aware of the other error with the previous shoe repair. Overall, the pricing was reasonable and the work acceptable. The communication on this first visit I will chalk up to a learning curve. read more
