I had a horrible experience regarding the dry cleaning of a high-end mens; Bachrach French cuff dress shirt. My experience wasn't about a failed attempt at getting an existing stain out, but rather complete negligence during the dry-cleaning process that resulted in total loss of a pristine condition shirt. The shirt was practically new and had only been worn twice.
After first cleaning attempt, shirt came back with a crushed/broken button as well as wrinkled area surrounding button with multiple small rust/grease marks throughout shirt/French cuff area. I suspect the shirt got caught-up in the machine during the press and/or cleaning process. I immediately brought marks/button to the employee's attention and was told they would fix the button and get the stains out.
After much patience and approximately one month later, including multiple failed attempts to fix the shirt, I attempted to personally speak to Angie about rectifying the situation. After multiple non-returned calls/vm's, I finally reached Angie. She said, she would order a 'special' cleaning product for a last attempt to clean the shirt or she'll 'replace' it. The 'special' cleaning attempt did nothing to resolve the stains, but then Angie only offered to pay half the price of the shirt since Bachrach had a current 'buy one-get one free' special ( I paid full price last fall), plus a $25 cleaning credit for future service. In-store credit is a joke, like I would have the confidence to go back. I'm glad Angie was more worried about me benefiting from a 'buy-one get-one free offer' than for her shop's negligence in ruining my shirt. I even offered for her to keep the 'free' shirt. All I wanted from this daunting experience was my shirt to be replaced.
Angie's replacement offer was unacceptable and insulting given all the inconvenience I went through (5 weeks of multiple unsuccessful trips to her shop, multiple unreturned phone calls/vm's and one ruined/un-wearable dress shirt).
