After YEARS of back and forth with this company and our tub repair we purchased initially with a "lifetime warranty" I was waiting until the most recent job was done to give this place one last chance. They blew it. Initially we called Renew it for tub repair. We'd had a clog that had drano in it that had eaten off the paint off the tub, so we had renew it come and check it out. The owner said it was damaged enough to where the lifetime membership may be a good idea in case future tiny chips or things could be repaired without charge. It was expensive, but we paid for it. A few months later, just as has happened to other reviewers and as expected, a few chips came up on the tub and it began peeling around the edge. The owner at the time, Matt, came over and reviewed it and said someone would call us to schedule. No one ever did. That was almost one year ago. May I note Matt at that time said we did NOT need to stop using the tub. After several attempts to reach Matt, I found the business had been sold to a new owner. I spoke with the new owner, I believe his name is Jordan. He said he would have the repairman come out and look at it, and call us to set up a time. Again, no one ever called. After repeated attempts to get on the schedule, I rang Jordan only to be told that " the damage seems to have worsened since you first called us and um...well just sent us a pic of the damage again and we'll call you to get you on the schedule." After being told to keep using the tub, and the repeated blowing off of our needs, I asked to be scheduled immediately, and he did so. The work, done by Dale, is actually very good. Then I got the bill, which Jordan emailed DAILY FOR TWO WEEKS until it was paid and was the nearly THREE HUNDRED DOLLAR ADDITIONAL FEE we were charged after paying A THOUSAND for a lifetime warranty I have a problem with. We will not be returning for future services and pay for them repeatedly. read more

Nice people, crappy work. Their "100% satisfaction guarantee" is a little hollow when they won't return phone calls or email after a subpar project. As their own site notes, "There is a lot of competition for refinishing in Portland and Vancouver," so do yourself a favor use someone else, someone competent. Do not hire this company to do work for you. First off, they did not come on the day they were supposed to to repair my bathtub and came on a day which was not agreed upon. Second they left their food waste on my sink and it spilled over onto my clothes. Also, when they removed my shower curtains they discarded them onto my livingroom rug. If zero star was an option, I'd use it. They did a tub/shower refinish about 10 years ago. The unit has had very light use. Recently it blistered and peeled in two very small spots. We are unable to find the paperwork so they have no interest in helping. Be warned if you use this process be sure to read the fine print on their "lifetime" warranty and understand there are no alternatives to complete replacement when it fails. read more

So I needed my tub refinished, I called Renew it July 7th 2014, the call went OK and we scheduled my initial consultation and repair for July 14th at 9 AM. I received a call July 8th saying they forgot to write down the day and time (worrisome but not a deal breaker). We again went over the details. So July 14th rolls around and I wake up early on my day off to meet them at 9 AM. Guess what, nobody came. I call at 9:40 and they have no idea where "their guy" is and say they will get back to me. Half an hour later I get a call saying I am not even scheduled. I can not speak to the quality of their work because they can not even be bothered to show up. While Renew-It seems pretty good at setting up appointments, they severely lack in actually following up on scheduled appointments. I scheduled a minor bathtub repair 10 days out, and after 2 hours had gone by without anyone showing up or calling, I called them. They seemed somewhat confused by the call, put me on hold for a while, and when they returned to the phone they told me that they were running late and would be about 1-2 hours late, "at most". Well, 3.5 hours had gone by and no call, no show. I called them again, and someone else answered this time and said that they were stuck with another customer for the rest of the day, and was wondering if I could reschedule for another day. What kind of customer service is that? What would have happened had I not called them to find out where they were? Would they have just never showed up? While I cannot comment on the quality of their service, as they never showed up nor called, I can comment on their customer service by saying: Spend your money elsewhere. read more

I am the sort of person who leaves room for human error, bad days, and fluke occurrences when it come to reviews. I know that a single bad review can severely damage the reputation of an otherwise good company. Therefore, it took me a long time to decide whether to write this review. Ultimately I decided to do so in hopes that this company will seriously consider improving their customer service. We had our tub refinished about 3 years ago, paying for the diamond finish (supposed to last up to 12-15 years I think) that came with a seven year warranty. For the first year and a half, I was extremely happy with it. However, less than two years later we began to see damage (15-20 tiny places and one dime-sized area in which the paint had come off). I truly do not know the cause, but I can confidently say that we took every precaution to care for the finish, as it was a significant investment for us. Upon calling the company and speaking with Adam, who was very friendly and helpful, Matt (the owner, I believe) came to assess the situation. I have never been confronted with so little professionalism as I was that day. Suffice it to say, he accused me of lying and told me the warranty would not cover the damage before even looking at it. To be fair, after I protested and he briefly looked at the tub, he offered to repair the one large spot at a later date but maintained his position concerning the nature of the damage as well as my character. I decided months later that I'd rather count the investment a loss than to have him in my home again. I came away with two warnings for other customers. First, if the damage was due to dropping things, which, in our case, wouldn't have been more than a bar of soap, then the "diamond finish" is a very weak one indeed. Second, if you report damage to your surface, do not use the term "chipping." They have a very narrow definition of the word (i.e. "chips" exclusively occur if you drop something. And said chips are not covered under warranty). I am sorry to say I cannot recommend this company. If you choose them, please take their guarantees/warranty with an enormous grain of salt. read more

Let me begin by saying the final outcome was acceptable - not perfect, but okay. However, getting here was not easy. In late February we had our tub refinished. The result was unacceptable -- wrinkles in the finish, streaks and swirls. We called Re-new It as soon as we saw the problem and requested the come take a look. We thought the sooner they came out, the easier it would be to correct. That was a Saturday late morning. They did not come to the house until the following Thursday afternoon. The owner and the guy who did the work claimed the issues could only have come from our having touched the tub prior to the coating being set. We did not touch the tub and were not the cause of the issues that were clearly visible. They did agree to re-do the tub, which was completed about 10 days after this second visit. On the day the tub was to be re-refinished, I requested a call from Renew-it so I could meet them. No call came. I called the office and was told someone would get back to me. Another hour went by with no call, so I called again. Again, I was told someone would call me. When I got a call from the owner, he said he "could not find" his "guy" so we'd have to schedule for the next day. I said this was very inconvenient to which Matt said that if we had not touched the tub in the first place they would not have to re-do it. I told him that we had nothing to do with the result of the tub and that this was very poor customer service. They did show up the following day and they basically reshot the coating without stripping. There are a few bumps but it's okay. I would not recommend this company based on their terrible customer service and the cavalier attitude the owner displayed. If at any point in this process the owner had said that he was sorry for the outcome or that this was unusual or that he was not sure how this could have happened but they'd take care of it, I may not be quite as upset. However, being accused of deliberately marring the surface of the tub more than once and essentially accused of lying is unforgivable. read more

I called and scheduled for his guy to come out and did the work. The tub looks great! No complaint. I did have to call him to get a invoice to know where to send the check. One of the owners arrived at my door two hours late and told me they couldn't do it because "their guy was at another job". I lost a day at work due to the error but I was dumb enough to reschedule. I have never in all my remodel experiences suffered so at the hands of a company. We hired these guys to come out to our 1938 home to strip our sink and refinish it and to clean the grout in the shower of our other bathroom. Two people came to our home to do the work. I came home about 3:30 and the guy says, my boss bid this wrong. Way underbid. As I began to watch them work I began to have concerns. I noticed him at one point using regular sandpaper to clean up the grout on the original 1938 porcelain tiles. I said something at the time, then the door closed. My son was flying in and I had just spent hours thoroughly dusting every surface in the living area and office outside these baths. When I glanced at a close surface I noticed a thick layer of dust. Upon further inspection, I discovered to my horror a layer of grout dust covering everything! Everywhere. I asked him to come look. He denied it was grout dust but then finally admitted it but did not have a clue how it got there. I asked that he either clean it up or get a housekeeper to do it. He agreed. Later lied that he said that when I called to see when she was coming. After he left I further inspected the job. And to my horror things began to get much much worse. He had sprayed grout sealant everywhere. On all the surfaces of the shiny porcelain tile. On my paint leaving a shiny gloss. Even on both sinks claiming it was a permanent sealant. Allowed to dry it created a dusty film on everything. Also my beautiful tiles had been scratched badly with the sandpaper. Grout had been left sealed into the tiles. An original tile had been broken which he lied about saying it was like that. Then, it gets much worse. As water touched the shower and sink it began to get very gummy and drip down the wall. When attempting to clean the goo off 2 days later it took 5 minutes to clean each tile. Everywhere water touched the sink it began to come if in peeling hanks (this was the expensive sink reseal). And it gets worse. All the dripping goo has gone down our drains. When it backed up a bit and I plunged tons of grout that had solidified in the drain came up. He had just let grout go down the drain as he worked. I called. Many times. Lied. Made excuses. Said he'd come out. But no response. Job was $1300. We have had to spend 2 full days cleaning dust, countless hours scrubbing tiles, and now our entire plumbing system is plugged with solid grout and sealant that continues to move down the drain. Threatened small claims. No response. Asked for some of my money back for repairs. No response. If you value your house and your money steer clear of these shysters. 6 months later we are still dealing with the damage they created. read more

I cannot recommend Renew-It tub refinishing. Briefly, I was charged $100 for color paint match which seems excessive. I was sold a drain plug for $100 which seems excessive. Both of these things I agreed to, so I can take the blame for these irritations. However, Renew-It painted over the caulking on one side of my tub (obviously existing caulking should be removed BEFORE the tub is repainted), and left me with a bathroom window screen the color of my tub paint (overspray?). The worst thing of all is that I have contacted them over the last six weeks on at least six occasions in attempt to let them rectify these issues and my pleas have gone completely ignored. If you want a company that doesn't stand behind it's service, then this is the company for you. Good luck. read more

Horrible. I took entire day off because i was told it would take all day, took two hours. After they showed up 2 hrs late. Forgot to put in "non-slip" coating, had to return. A week later I had a chip. They came back to fix,grudgingly. Hard to get a hold of, accused me of doing something to cause chip. 1.5 yrs. later, my tub looks like crap. Chips all over, coating coming off grout. Ridiculous. I basically paid $350/hr for a really poor job. Bad follow-through and lousy customer service. read more
