4.5 stars (see below) First time dealing with a bathtub surface issue and need trust? I'd highly recommend BSS (Oregon bath.com) the communication was great until the first worker took apart the plumbing of our claw foot which the manager said that they would leave it. (My wife said she over heard them argue about that for a few minutes while she was working from home). They did put it back together however. I recommend tapping off the parts you want to have them keep on or make a note or be home to show the worker! Hence 4 stars but the end work was 5 stars. Nonetheless, their work was top notch. First worker came in and tapped off entire room, sanded and scrapped the chipped surface. Next, the main guy came later that day and sprayed (what I'm assuming is some very chemical epoxy or ceramic resin?) surface. After 2-3 days you remove the tape. It's that simple. I recommend whipping the walls off with a damp cloth after removing all the plastic and tape. Also keep the window and or exhaust fan on to remove the chemicals from the air. "Air that bathroom out" as my wife always says. This was my first time soaking in a clawfoot tube and it's so f-ing dreamy now. read more

We are thrilled with the great stone like resurfaces, the nwas competitive (actually slightly lower) with 2 other companies (1 in LA area & another local). We have already signed them to resurface a bar for us. In the 5 rooms they worked on, there was only one area that needed another coat of sealer, which Mike agreed to add in next week. We had formica countertops in our kitchen painted. BSS came out to give me a quote. They were extremely polite, helpful, and knowledgeable. I was able to keep the paint samples over the week-end so we could take our time selecting a color. When the day came to have the work done they arrived on time and got right to work. The prepping and painting took a full day. They were very careful to vent the kitchen properly, as the paint they use is very smelly. The kitchen was entirely sealed off from the rest of the house to help contain the odor as well. Our worker came back the next day to take down all the plastic and clean up. He then came back a week later for a final buff and inspection. I couldn't be happier with the final result. The counters look brand new. Bathroom Surface Solutions was by far the cheaper option, but i also liked their reviews on FB and how they responded to criticism. They also had a longer warranty than the competitor. I booked the service. The gentleman arrived about 20 minutes early and worked super hard the whole time. (There were supposed to be two professionals but one had a baby on the way and wasn't available - understandable) The one gentleman (Quinn?) was great! He suggested i soak some of the bathroom parts in CLR which was a nice suggestion. He came back the next day to finish the work and just like the day before finished on time!! Also got the bathroom pieces on better than they were before! Super happy. Honestly, is one of the best upgrades i've done to my home. found Bathroom Surface Solutions on Angie's list. They were one of the three contractors I interviewed for the job. I have a small bathroom (maybe 60 square feet), and it is the only bathroom in my house. I let Mike Lubliner, the general contractor, know that the most important things to me were that I was out of my house the shortest amount of time possible because it is my only bathroom and that I needed communication and help along the way since it was the first remodel project since being a homeowner. The original estimate was just under $12,000 and he said it would take 2 weeks. I sent the 50% deposit via check and he said the job would start on July 6 or 7. I have a friend who does interior design, and she helped me draw up plans for the new bathroom - everything new except the tub, which they would refinish, and nothing would be moved/rearranged. I emailed the plans to Mike on May 18 and asked about getting materials ordered. On June 30 I followed up and inquired about have a custom vanity built since I had not found one I liked, he said he would be in touch early the next week to make a game plan, which never happened. On July 1st I received an email that they would start on the 11th or 12th, which I said was fine since I'd rather have them in my house for the shortest amount of time possible. July 11th the installer, Marko, came and took samples for demo and said that demo would start on that 14th or 15th. On Monday the 18th I emailed Mike for an update since no one ever showed up for demo and I had not heard anything. He called and let me know Marko would be there to start that day. On the 21st I went by the house to talk to Marko and see how the process was going. He was shocked that no materials had been ordered and let me know it could take a couple weeks. I sent this email to Mike: "Hi Mike, I just met with Marko at the house and he said we need to get materials ordered as soon as possible since it could take a couple weeks. I'm feeling incredibly overwhelmed and stressed. The last time you were at my house you said you have a cabinet guy that you would get to design the vanity. I want to get that I process. At the beginning of the project I told you that time was kind of sensitive since it is my only bathroom. I'm really disappointed in the lack of communication and scheduling - my bathroom is demolished and we have no materials to start the project. I would appreciate a timeline and what I can expect over the next few weeks. Also, please let me know what you need from me to get materials ordered and cabinet designed/ordered and how long that will take. Please give me a call as soon as possible." Mike called later that day and we finally began to get materials ordered. The entire project went this way. I never had any proactive communication. I had to constantly call and email to get any kind of communication about the status. Since it was my only bathroom, I moved to my parents' house for what I thought would be two weeks. I believe that since I wasn't around to monitor, I was completely taken advantage of and I'm sure that they were working on multiple other jobs at the time. They ended up finishing the job on SEPTEMBER 6th, or 7 and a half weeks later. The final piece is that I still do not have a working drain in my bathtub. Because it is an old tub it has a non-standard size drain. Mike found a solution, but wanted to charge me $100 for installation in addition to the cost of the part. I opted to find another solution as I felt I was being nickled and dimed after paying quite a bit of money for something that took 4 times as long as they said it would. I also asked if they would hook a water line to my refrigerator, which I was told they would follow up to schedule and I have yet to hear from them 3 weeks later... The work Marko did is beautiful, so it's unfortunate that i have to highly recommend not using them. If you do, I would include some kind of discount rate for every day they go over the time estimate. read more
