I was so excited for this appointment, I've heard so many good things about Renew and head spas in general, so glad I finally got to check it out. I booked an appointment with one of their juinor therapists, so up front I knew I was working with someone a bit newer, which is ok with me given that it was only 100 bucks! You start off with a scalp analysis, and while it was cool to see my scalp up close like that, my therapist didn't say anything about my scalp and her recommendation. I was then taken to the back where you change into a robe top and slippers. The robe top, towels and bathroom were all clean. Once you're all changed, you head back out into the main room where each station is separated by a curtain, so any conversation going on back there, you can hear as well as all conversations from the waiting room. There is nice spa music on which helps to drain it out a bit but still a little noisy. Looking at the reviews now, I see others were offered ear plugs, but unfortunately on this visit I wasn't. The treatment itself was great, multiple shampoo washes, head massage and arm/hand massage. The bed was incredibly comfortable and cozy. My therapist was lovely. Overall, I probably won't be back, the price point and quality just isn't there for me and I don't do treatments like this often....,but it was a generally good experience and totally worth it to check it out if you're into this type of thing! read more

This was the massage I'd always been looking for. I will get this done twice a year for scalp health and relaxation. The first time I went I was surprised at the length of the shoulder and neck massage and, really, that's the most tense areas so you don't need more than that. I had the BEST experience with Alexis and left feeling completely relaxed and refreshed. Unlike your run-of-the-mill massage, the service includes a scalp analysis before the treatment begins. Using a magnifying tool, they showed me close-up images of my scalp and explained what was going on with my hair and skin, focusing on areas of dryness and buildup. It was genuinely informative and made the entire experience feel much more personalized. While the ambiance isn't exactly high-end -- it's a single-room setup with curtain dividers and you can hear some background noises like the toilet flushing (I was offered earplugs) -- the quality of the service more than makes up for it. It's not the Four Seasons, but if you're going for the actual treatment rather than the frills, this place delivers. I'll definitely be returning and highly recommend! read more

I enjoy scalp treatments biyearly and recently found Renew Head Spa near my neighborhood. I booked and paid for the basic 1 hour Refresh treatment for $150 on their website and showed up for my appointment. It was a lovely experience. Before the treatment began, they showed me the build of oil on my scalp via their scalp camera. Then, they took me to the bathroom where I removed my top and wore a strapless garment, which was provided. I was taken to a large massage chair where I laid down for 1 hour as the technician washed and massaged my hair. The massage pressure was perfect. They massaged my face, scalp, neck, shoulders and arms. It was very relaxing. After it was completed, they showed me my scalp looking pristine and brought me tea and a chocolate. They accept tip via cash and venmo. Overall, I loved the experience and would totally come back!!! Everything was as advertised! read more

Overall positive experience, would come again. However, would like to point out some areas where they can improve. The ladies massaging techniques are excellent! They ask you how light or hard you would prefer and does it exactly to your liking. I like the scalp washing, hot stone massage on arms, shoulders, neck. Love the hair brushing. The foot massage is so great (extra charge). The warm tea and chocolate at the end is a nice touch. Negatives : one of the masseuse's breath smelled like garlic, and was breathing down on the 1 client in our group throughout the treatment. It was very tough to relax and enjoy with the odor in one's face. Please make sure your staff has no bad breath and no body odors. Another issue I didn't like is they jump into facial massage right away without any creams or lubricant. The friction of their hands pulling on my delicate skin around my eyes is not ideal. I felt like she was giving me wrinkles with the tugging and pulling. Facial skin should be treated alot more delicately. After the bad experience with facial massage, it was all smooth sailing though. No complaints with scalp, shoulder, arms massage. The ladies were very nice sweet Asian aunties type. $150 for 1 hr Refresh. It's a bit pricey. I would come more often if the price was more appealing. read more

I wanted to try a scalp treatment because I've seen them online and found this place in Philly. Went today and had a great experience. I knew a bit of what to expect from reading online but Nan did a wonderful job and was very thorough. I love the scalp analysis before and after and all of the products used were non-irritating and felt great. Renew Head Spa is incredible! I scheduled an appointment months ago but got super sick so had to cancel. Thankfully I was able to use my deposit for a new appointment and after having an incredibly stressful week I decided to on whim book a same day service. Sara was so kind, attentive, and generous. She could tell I was really stressed so she gave me an extra long massage to get rid of all my knots with no added charge. She also used a special shampoo after seeing that my hair wasn't reacting well to the other one. The steamer and the massage were my favorite part and just what I needed. I needed a relaxing activity to do yesterday and I decided to try Renew Head Spa. I had the most relaxing experience with the team there. I went with the 1.5 hour service and it was so worth it. The ladies took care of my scalp, hair, massage, it was everything I needed for a relaxing afternoon. They were so nice and friendly, easy to chat with, I'm telling everyone to go to them! My hair still looks amazing and I didn't even blow dry it, if I skip that it usually looks flat and dull and I can't believe it still looks good! An incredible "treat yourself" experience! I recently traveled to Japan where I had a head spa and was thrilled to see there was a new spot that opened up in Philadelphia! I haven't seen this service here until recently. Lena provided an amazing service! The head spa started with a scalp analysis using a high definition camera. Then, I rested comfortably on a massage table with a hair wash station--I received a very thorough hair wash and amazing scalp massage. This was followed by a steam treatment, arm and shoulder massage and foot bath, and a blow out! Truly an incredible experience, can't recommend it enough!! read more

This is my first time receiving an actual head/neck spa at this location and it did not disappoint! I was assigned to Ann and her hands worked wonders on my scalp, neck and arms. I've struggled with controlling dandruff and oily hair so receiving the analysis and treatment was definitely worth it. My scalp was the cleanest and healthiest as it ever been.
