The Short Version: Kuwaiti juice shop now in Westboro. Loved…read morethe unique soft serve ice cream/sorbet combinations. They also have smoothies, crepes and other desserts in addition to juice. The Long Version: When the big Bridgehead coffee shop at the corner of Richmond Rd and Golden Ave closed down, the space was vacant for a while, and I was very curious as to what would go in. Well, in the autumn of 2025 Aseer Time opened up. Aseer Time is a Kuwaiti company founded in 2011 and is known for their juices, smoothies and desserts. This is the first (and as of the writing of this review, only) location in Ottawa. The first Canadian location was in Mississauga and there are only a handful of locations in Canada so far, all in Ontario. I love trying new places, so I was excited to check it out, but they are too popular, and everytime I walked by they were crowded with lineups and I don't do crowds or line ups, lol. I lucked out in early November on our first snowfall of the season, the place only had a few customers and there was no lineup. So I ducked in from the snow to get an ice cream (!) lol. I got The Havana ($6.99) which is a soft serve swirl of mango sorbet and berry ice cream. The berry ice cream is blue and reminded me a bit of the Smurf ice cream I'd get at Canada's Wonderland when I was a kid. The berry flavour was subtle, but it complimented the mango sorbet which had a more potent flavour. I liked the creaminess of the ice cream contrasting the more fruit puree texture of the mango sorbet. I enjoyed the swirl. The space is large with lots of seating. They have lots of tables so great for groups. People were spaced out everywhere so I couldn't get any good pictures without people in it. Service was courteous and efficient. Street parking only. Looking forward to trying their other items. Review #219 (2025)

I dropped by Bubbilicity Tea Shop for a bubble tea. It's co-located with Dumpling Bowl. Overall, my…read moredrink was good. I got a regular-sized coconut milk tea ($4.99) and added tapioca pearls (an additional $0.75). I forgot to say half sweet, so it was full strength sweetness, which was way too sweet for me, but that was on me for forgetting. The drink itself had a nice potent coconut flavour, but the tea flavour was very subtle. It was smooth and not gritty, and was rich and creamy. The tapioca pearls were soft and chewy, how I like them, but they could have been more generous with the amount as I finished the pearls way before I finished my drink, so was just drinking milk tea with no toppings for most of my drink. Overall 3.5 stars, but I am being generous and rounding up. Hopefully next time they will follow my example of generosity and give me more tapioca, lol. Service was friendly and efficient. The inside is small. They have 4 regular tables of 4 and a high table for 2. Street parking only.

Went to this place on a hot July afternoon because they had ice cream posted. One scoop for $2 or…read moretwice scoops for $4. The young female working the cash could barely speak English and literally all we were ordering was a BBT and three ice creams. I asked for one scoop of chocolate with whip cream. Kids had two scoops each, one strawberry, one chocolate. You would think they would serve the ice cream first, then make the BBT. We sat and waited for probably ten minutes before anything showed up and everything was wrong. My one scoop of chocolate came with sprinkles and the sprinkles were hard like rocks. The scoop of ice cream was tiny, like an inch and a half in diameter and tasted like store bought ice cream. The two kids only got one bowl with two scoops, one chocolate and the other strawberry. The BBT came out fine. We had to get her to make another bowl of ice cream for the second child. We were also the only customers in there. The cost came out to over $25 and I think we were charged twice for one of the two scoops. Basically five scoops of ice cream and an $8 BBT. I had been here before the pandemic and it was good, but something changed and I think it was a language barrier. If you're going to have someone facing customers, at least make sure they can understand their own menu! After that debacle, I will never go there again!

The Short Version: This little shop in Wellington West…read moresells cold pressed juices and other healthy snacks. The Long Version: Capital Cold Press opened up in Wellington West sometime in 2023. It looked interesting to me, but admittedly I find the cost of cold press juices in general too spendy for me. Very recently, I noticed they started selling on the Too Good to Go app (it's an app that allows restaurants to sell leftover/day-old food at a discounted price). I do love this app for trying out new-to-me restaurants. They had a surprise bag listing for $7.99 so I figured it was a good time to give it a try. The thing with the surprise bags is it's a surprise you don't know what you're going to get, lol. I was hoping to get some cold pressed juices, but alas I didn't. Instead what I received was a small fruit salad, a small banana chia bowl, a can of Cove probiotic soda and the fourth item I had my choice of a small soup, smoothie or protein balls and I opted for the soup. It was a cream of broccoli soup. The cream of broccoli soup was tasty, albeit not all that aesthetically pleasing, lol. It was creamy and had a potent broccoli flavour. It retails for $9.99 for a small, which I find a bit high for my budget. The fruit salad was unremarkable IMO. It had watermelon, apples, strawberries, grapes and blueberries. I can't eat chia seeds, so my husband ate the chia bowl. He thought it was ok. As for the Cove soda, I'm familiar with this brand and enjoy their drinks. It was my first time trying the "Cranmerry" flavour though. It's seasonal and it's essentially a cranberry ginger ale flavour. Service was pleasant. The staff member was friendly and I liked that I had choices for the fourth item in my Too Good to Go surprise bag. This option is rare, and I'm sure not always the case, depending on availability. I was happy to try this new-to-me shop. I'm not the target demographic, but I like that the neighbourhood has a variety of businesses. Not too many places to get cold pressed juices, smoothies or chia bowls in the area, so if this is your jam and your budget allows, Capital Cold Press has you covered. The space is nice, feels very healthy, lol. It's takeout only. Although the address is on Wellington Street West, the entrance is actually on Irving Ave. Street parking only. Review #237 (2025)

I've never had a florentine before and I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it really hit the spot for my sweet craving. According to the description, the florentine is made with the Stubbe family recipe of local honey, almonds, and orange peel, plus a thin layer of dark chocolate and plenty of sliced almonds on top with honey. It was delicious! Despite the honey, I didn't find it too sweet. I love nuts and dark chocolate, especially together. The cookie part was buttery and you could definitely taste the orange peel, but it wasn't overpowering. Nice crunch, but not crumbly. Would've been perfect with a hot cup of black tea. I wish I bought more. Would love to try other Anna Stubbe chocolates and treats. Their bonbons are beautiful!

We ordered two drinks and were really happy with what we received. THE DRINKS: Ginger Snap - My fiancé ordered the ginger snap without spinach and he really enjoyed his drink. It featured apples, banana, mango and ginger and it was full of flavour. It was sweet and tart and definitely a must try! Drunken Monkey with spinach: - I ordered the Drunken Monkey with vegan protein powder and spinach. I found my drink lacked a bit of flavour (they scoop the fruit into the cup before blending and a big chunk of fruit created a big air hole, which I think is the reason my drink lacked flavour) but I was really happy with the whole ingredients used and the added protein powder. The service was a little slow but the employee was really nice and I enjoyed looking at the artwork on the walls. Would We Return? Absolutely because I like the clean ingredients used and the ability to add protein to my drink.

TL;DR/The Short Version: Tasty and aesthetically pleasing…read moresmoothies, but a bit pricey. The Long Version: This location in Orleans is the fourth location for Juice Dudez. Their first was in Westboro and I checked them out there when they first opened back in 2020. I had a Pina Colada bubble tea there and wasn't overly impressed. But they must be doing something right if they opened a second location on Bank St, a third location in the Byward Market and now a fourth location in Orleans. Their specialty appears to be fruit smoothies and dessert crepes/waffles. So I decided to try their smoothies. I got the Fancy Dude $13 which is avocado smoothie layered with mango smoothie and strawberry smoothie on top. There's sliced fruits (kiwi, star fruit, strawberries and blueberries) on top as well as crushed nuts (I think pistachios). I added Astha (Lebanese cream) for an additional $1.50. There was also honey drizzled on top. The drink was super pretty and fairly tasty, but I found the price a bit high. The amount of Ashta I received was small, just a little scoop. The smoothie was definitely tastier than the bubble tea I had at their OG location when they first opened. The smoothies here are similar to the smoothies at La Bocca Juice down on Bank St, or Cocktail Antabli and Cocktail Hawaii (both in Montreal). Service was pleasant. Decor is nice. Free parking available in the plaza parking lot. It's where Menchie's used to be. Review #49 (2025)
