It took a while to order and then things came out relatively slowly. It wasn't a problem since we enjoyed the longer meal, but it was still noticeable. They also didn't clear any dishes until the end of the meal. My impression was that they were just understaffed on a busy weekend night. We worked our way through a lot of the menu. The labneh was only good, which was surprising because my wife loves labneh. The kibbeh had too much bread around it and I wound up pulling out the meat only and eating it. The peri peri chicken was excellent across the board. The beef sausage was amazing and the standout hit of the night. The grilled halloumi was good in that it's always delicious and this was a good example. They gave us (and everyone) a complimentary pistachio flaky pastry for dessert was also different and excellent.

This is a small, yet bustling restaurant. A U-shaped bar wraps around a fully visible kitchen. Service and experience are quite incredible. The menu is mostly small plates, intended to be shared and may come out as they're ready. We were just the two of us and here's what we ordered: We started it all off with Naan e Barbari and chose Zhoug and Za'aluk sauces to go with that. Then we moved onto Crispy Violet Artichokes, the Labneh, Hatzil, Parsley, the Fattoush salad and the Chilli Cauliflower. Along with these came the Coffee Rub Chicken, and the Pata Negra Pluma as our main proteins. Every bit of this experience and every plate is exquisite. I couldn't recommend The Barbary enough. On the wine, they didn't seem to take me seriously when I ordered one of my favorite wines, the Chateau Musar. Yes, it's become pricey over the years, but they brought out a bottle of off-wine-list Cuvée Musar (one of Musar's very good second wines) which I sent back and asked for the real thing. These are the starters you may want to go for: Hommos Beiruty, Moutabal Baba Ghanouj, Mouhamara (excellent!), Lahem B'agine & Fattoush Salad. Here's my thoughts on the main courses: one of my friends ordered the sea bass and she said that the cut was very "unfortunate" as she was digging through bones. Usually, she goes, when you cut a fish a certain way, you can actually take out the entire skeleton at once and then enjoy the meat. But maybe this is the Lebanese way of serving the fish? On the upside, when you order meat for a main course, you will be getting heaps of it - the portions are really generous. I, for example, ordered the Chicken Shish Taouk and it was nice. Nevertheless, I suggest you stick with the starters and maybe one chicken dish (which would feed at least two or three). Also, you will find a cover charge on your bill, which "covers" such things as bread and sides of vegetables. Speaking of which, you will find that they place a bowl of fresh vegetables on your table: lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, mini cucumbers, bell pepper & radishes. To be honest, we didn't quite know what to do with them and so we left them mostly untouched. When I slipped away to the bathroom later on, I saw how this salad bowl is supposed to be used: you chop up the veggies and prepare a salad. Doh! They're not licensed but you can bring your own wine, and they don't charge corkage.
