I took my '69 Fender Princeton (which is my baby) to Evan. Even though it was working and sounded pretty good, it was having some issues. Reluctantly I figured, hey, this thing is old. I should get it looked at. Evan gets into the amp and it's an absolute dumpster fire. Wrong fuse, the grounding is wrong, caps and resisters are messed up, cold solder points, wrong rectifier tube, bias is all wrong, etc. He couldn't believe it hadn't caught on fire yet. Long story short, I get my amp back and it sounds like a brand new amp. It has a growl you wouldn't believe! Prior to working on the amp, Evan does a complete video showing everything he finds wrong or not working with the amp, which was pretty nifty. There was no arguing with the issues he found in my amp. Price was itemized and invoiced. I believe I got top quality work done on my amp. I also believe I paid a fair price for the services provided. You get what you pay for...in this case my '69 Fender Princeton must sound exactly like it did when it came off the factory floor in Corona back then. I will use Evan for all my other amp work. read more

93 Fender Blues Deville 4 x 10 - My old reliable amp tech moved away and I needed to new one to repair the old tweed. She was firing up but silent as a ghost. I found Evan here on Yelp who was very close to work. Dropped the amp off and got her back sounding better than ever! Evan let me know the V1 tube socket needed a reflow. I also needed the OG input jacks replaced and a basic tune up/scope to diagnose any other issues. As advertised, he sent me a couple of short videos explaining what needed to be done before hand and had me give him the green to light to get it done. Evan took care of everything for a good price, got her back to me in short order and the amp sounds great now. Highly recommended! read more

I was looking for someone to overhaul my vintage (ca.1968) Fender Super Reverb, and found Renberg amp repair on Google. Evan Renberg had some great reviews, so I thought I'd give him a shot at it. The amp had a number of issues, and Evan was extremely thorough in his evaluation, supplying a number of short narrated videos describing his findings and the work required to correct the issues. The amp had some unanticipated additional problems that proved to be a challenge. The amp took some additional time and parts, but Evan found and fixed all the issues and only charged me for the additional parts beyond the original estimate. The amp sounds AMAZING!! Wow. I am super happy and very impressed with Evan's professionalism. If I could give 6 stars I would. I highly recommend Renberg Amp Repair. Thanks, Evan! read more

I would highly recommend dropping your amp off with Evan. I was referred to him from a friend after I had been running into an issue with my Fender Blues Deluxe. It sounded like it was cackling and sounding awful. Did some basic maintenance myself, replaced some tubes for the first time in 10 years but nothing changed. Dropped it off with Evan and he immediately found some issues in the board where some parts had fried. He sent some videos over where he pointed out the issues and asked if I would like him to fix it. I simply sent him some money on Venmo and boom, a week later I have my amp back and it's sounding back to normal! Evan's super easy to communicate with and will send anyone I know that is running into amp issues his direction. read more

Evan is super communicative about any and every issue he encounters with your amp. Fair price given all the work he had done too! Will definitely be back if needed! read more

If you need your tube amp repaired, this is the guy to talk to. Brought him my Orange Rockerverb 100 MK III to get checked out because the volume just wasn't there. Evan gladly went through the amp and notified me that the only "issue" with the amp were the incorrect tubes someone installed in the effects loop, but the head worked swimmingly and put out more than the 100 watts it was rated for. Turns out, my band just plays way too loud. You will not be charged for repairs your amp doesn't need. read more

Evan is an honest, hard working, and reliable amp tech. He's always answered questions regarding my amps in an efficient and informative manner (Traynor YBA 1, Fender Twin, and Mesa Express 55). He's helped me out in the past with diagnosing issues with my Mesa even though he doesn't service that brand/make himself (something he was fully transparent about before). He took my Traynor from sounding like crap to being the great amp that it is. Evan will always be transparent about costs and turnaround speed, which is always something I find extremely important in an amp tech. As a guitar player, a trustworthy amp tech and luthier take time for you to find. Evan's my go to guy for as long as he'll have my business. read more

Renberg Amp Repair - My Traynor YBA 1 that Evan revived. - Musical Instrument Services Near Me

I bought a old Silver face Fender Champ that was good cosmetically but needed to be completely rewired. Evan kept in contact and I approved all of the things he wanted to do. I ended up with the Champ sound I loved. Dropped a WGS Alnico into the Champ and I had the sound I cherished and still do. It's been my go to amp for the last year and I will avail of Evan's talents again. read more

Brought my 1968 Fender Twin Reverb to Evan because it was sounding like a rattlesnake, hissing, rattling, about ready to spit venom. He took the thing apart, fixing capacitors, cleaning solders, changing tubes, removing old wiring, and even straightened out the chassis. Now it sounds like a million bucks. This guy is good, knowledgeable, and very detailed about all of the steps he takes. I won't be going to anyone else in the future. read more

Evan Rules! I'm a touring musician and my amps get really beat up on the road but I can always count on Evan to get them working better than new! Evan sent me videos of the things that needed to be to be fixed on my amp and explained them simply. Super affordable quality work! What more could you ask for?! read more

Evan at Renberg Amp Repair is as good as it gets. As a fellow garage-based business owner, I was more than happy to give him my business, especially after reading the excellent reviews he has received. I brought Evan my 1978 Music Man 112 RD. She was VERY sick and needed a substantial amount of work to bring her back to life. I can easily say that Evan lived up to the reviews and fast-building reputation as an excellent amp tech. Picked her up yesterday, plugged her in, turned her on and turned her up... I probably haven't heard the true tone of that amp come out in over 10 years. I'm very grateful that he was able to breathe some new life into my old amp. With excellent work, communication and more, Evan and Renberg Amp Repair are highly recommended! read more

Evan took my busted amp and turned it into gold. He's a fantastic technician.

Great experience! Surprisingly, it's hard to find an amp technician who really knows his stuff and has a reasonable turnaround time near Orange County. Evan retubed my Marshall style amp and I had it back in about a week. He did a great job of explaining what he did and was very responsive/attentive over the phone. Looking forward to bringing my amps back when they need service! read more

Evan is the man! Brought a sickly Fender Blues Deville that would power up, but not much else. Evan pretty much immediately recognized the issue and made me feel very confident in his abilities. Left the amp with him for a week for a free diagnostic. He ended up having to swap the caps, move around some board mounted components and replace the tubes. All for an extremely reasonable cost. The thing sounds like a million bucks now! I wouldn't bring my amps to anyone else at this point. I'm recommending him to all of my friends. If you are like me and have no idea how to do anything but swap tubes, place your confidence in Evan. You won't be disappointed. Thanks Evan! read more

My Vox AC15 hadn't worked for well over a year and Evan was able to quickly diagnose the issue and bring the amp back to life. It sounds way better than it did before it broke. Evan is great at communicating, responds fast, and does exceptional work for a reasonable price. I would highly recommend him. read more

So last week Renberg amp repair definitely came through. So in the early week my carvin amp started humming and it couldn't have come at the worst time. I had an important studio session later that week with my band. So It turns out the Filter caps needed to be replaced and I was so glad to be referred to this repair shop. They came through and I was able to have a clean sounding amp once again thanks To Renberg amp repair. If you are in the 562 area code this is thee shop! read more

I have a had a couple amps serviced by Evan now (fender blues deluxe/fender vibrolux) and i can attest to his honesty, communication and reliability. if you're an Orange/LA county local in search of a fair & efficient amp technician, I strongly suggest taking your business to Evan. read more

Where do I start. Nothing but great things to say. Made arrangements to drop off my Vox AC10 amp in the morning and he had the problem diagnosed and fully repaired including new tubes and the amp was back at my house the same day sounding as wonderful, if not better, than I remember. If any of my amps need servicing or repair, he's my go to. I highly, highly, highly recommend Renberg Amp Repair. read more

After coming across Evan and Renberg Amp repair, I sent my 50's Fender Champ over. It was sorely in need of some serious attention. I knew it could be better, but I had no clue just how much potential was in that little box. Evan returned to me an amp that was far better than my already high expectations. Over the past couple years I have had Evan work on my Hiwatt Custom 50, Soldano Asteroverb, Marshall Plexi, as well as a very unique 1966 Tel-Ray oil can delay. I've been happy every time. Evan is polite, quick to respond, and really knows his stuff. If I could give him 10 stars I would. Additionally, for what it's worth, I live in Washington, have multiple amp repair shops in my town, and will continue to pay the shipping costs to have Evan work on my amps. Gladly. read more

called to get an estimate on Guitar amp repair and ask the person that answered the phone ( after explaining the symptoms) what the problem might be, he said "I DONT KNOW " in a rude manner and almost hung up on me...... I insisted to ask what the problem could be so that i could get an idea what the repair might cost, again he came back with "I DONT KNOW " very rudely, he hung up at that point............... i guess he does not need my business, very disappointing conversation Thank You read more

This should be the standard for any type of repair service, but especially for us musicians. I was sent an actual diagnostic video explaining what was wrong and what he was going to do and the estimate was spot on. I felt so confident I was in great, honest hands. I brought in a rare Vox Satellite Solid State amp and it was handled respectfully, professionally, and was serviced masterfully. I will be coming back. I highly recommend. read more

Evan's a top-notch guy-- super compassionate and understanding as well as knowledgeable in his field, keeps a clean workspace.. He doesn't normally work with solid state amps but identified the problem with mine right away (ended up needing to replace the whole board, which understandably set me back a bit!) I'd use him again for sure. read more

I had a blues jr that would squeal very loudly and a blues deluxe that needed a tune up. I took my amps to Evan and he got them back to me in a week, fully repaired, clean, and better than ever. I paid less than I would have ever paid at another repair shop and Evan was a super cool dude as well. Since then I have recommended him to several friends who have also enjoyed his service. read more

Evan was great. Very knowledgeable and detail oriented. Changed the tubes in my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, fixed leaking capacitors, and adjusted the bias. It sounds great! When a few weeks later a transistor fried, he repaired it for no charge in 2 hours!! He really came through. I highly recommend him. read more

Evan did a wonderful job fixing my boogie. I thought it was tubes, but it just turned out to need a good cleaning. Prices rocked and turn around time was really good. I will go to him for all my amp needs. Linda Hill Lead Guitarist read more

My experience with Evan was amazing. He is friendly, easy to communicate with, and was accommodating when setting up a time to come by and drop off my amp. When I did come by, he was able to quick diagnose several issues. Later, after a closer evaluation, he sent me a video of all the issues he identified and how he would fix them, which I thought was really unique and useful. I even had a follow up question after I picked up the amp and he promptly responded and provided the info that I was looking for. His pricing is fair and reasonable, the quality of work is great, and the turnaround time was quick. Importantly, you can tell that he really cares about the work that he is doing. Highly recommended! read more

I have a fender performer 1000 amplifier. I bought it used. The amplifier was making a crackling noise when I would adjust the volume. The insert for the input jack was gone. The dials were hard to turn. It needed a tuneup. I'm pleased to say that Evans work is top notch. My amplifier now sounds good as new. One more thing, Evan found a cracked solder and damage to the circuitboard that he repaired. I would recommend Renburg amplifiers to anyone who needs to have a tuneup and troubleshooting performed on your amplifier. I don't hesitate to say that Evan knows what he's doing. read more

Had my 57 champ serviced here and it came back sounding better than ever! Evan is very knowledgeable and really takes great care of your amp. His pricing is also very honest and fair. I had a rattling issue with my amp and it was fixed with no up charges. Class act all around. I highly recommend Evan to anyone looking to have their amps serviced. read more

Nothing but great things to say about Evan. I have a fantastic sounding SS Vox amp that wasn't working correctly. I went to two other repair guys prior to Renberg and these guys wouldn't even touch it because they said it was a budget model and not worth the time. Evan took the challenge without charging me an upfront diagnostic fee. He not only figured out what was wrong, he had it repaired along with an amp tuneup within a couple days for a very nominal fee. It actually sounds better than when it was new! Thanks Evan! read more
