It was one chair with a plastic foot soaking bath. My pedicure has chipped already after one week. I then got convinced to do the shellac manicure- an $8.00 upgrade from the Groupon price. Since I was going on vacation I said sure why not. The color was chipped already from a few fingers after 1 week. It has now been 11 days and 2 whole nails have peeled off and most of my other nails have major chips in them. It seemed like a really nice place inside, and maybe their hair care is much better, but I wouldn't recommend this place for nail treatments. And I think they said the regular price for a pedi and shellac mani was $96!

I went in to make my appointment, and the owner (Alano) jumped up from the haircut he was doing to greet me and take care of me until the receptionist got back from the bank. He was very friendly, welcoming, and chatted with me a bit until she got back. I made my appointment, and Alano offered me half off a hair cut if I wanted to come back. I loved the shellac treatment; as someone who can't keep nail polish on for more than five minutes before it smudges, chips, etc., it's amazing. There's also ZERO dry time, so you can start doing things right away. I wasn't super impressed with the pedicure, mostly because they don't have a traditional spa pedicure station. I ended up booking a hair appointment with Olivia, and, despite my overwhelming anxiety to have someone new get near my hair with scissors, she did an amazing job. I mean, it was just a trim, but I've had "just a trim" screwed up too many times for my taste. She also explained what she was doing and using on my hair as she went along, and gave me a gorgeous style to boot (and cut my bangs properly for once, which is a miracle). Aside from Alano, whose prices are high (but worth it, I hear), cuts start at $25, which I think is a good price for a great cut and style. I've paid more and less, and gotten the same service paying more, and many, many awful cuts paying less. I took away one star because they don't (unfortunately) have a spa, and I am disappointed with the majority of spas in the Kalamazoo/Portage area. I'd much prefer to keep all of my beauty business here, but I can handle spreading it between Alano and KCHA.

They have large windows letting in a lot of natural light, which is wonderful. It doesn't have that dark, cavelike atmosphere that some small salons with no windows have. The salon has a clean and spacious bathroom, a keurig fully stocked with good coffee and fixings, and the stylists were so helpful. They have Kevin Murphy and Moroccan Oil products to offer (love Moroccan oil's argan oil)! They have glo-minerals makeup, which I'm not a fan of, but the ladies that were doing makeup for the bridesmaids and bride were using a large range of professional makeup brands (urban decay, MAC, etc.) Kate did my hair and she did a wonderful job! She did a great job making my fine, straight hair look beautiful and voluminous in the up do that I chose. I showed her a Pinterest picture and she did a great job recreating what I wanted. Renee did a great job with my makeup, I love that she started by asking how I did my makeup every day. When I asked her for extra coverage for my rosacea she did an awesome job making sure that my makeup was on lockdown. The ladies that were doing hair were so friendly and efficient, finishing ahead of schedule in most cases, and doing an excellent job! I went in over the weekend to get a shellac mani. While I was there two elderly ladies called and cancelled their appointments. One cancelled because she fell, Liz said that Trung offered to go to her house to do her nails if she wanted. How sweet is that?! Going above and beyond for their customers. I know that Liz takes extra time with clients that need extra time. If you have a physical disability, that doesn't matter to anyone at Phantastic, they'll do your nails and will not turn you away. I highly recommend this salon. Great quality for years. They're all sweet and you'll leave feeling like family.
