All these cute vintage shops. Right when you walk in, the whole experience is just a hop skip away. This whole little city is a vintage shop Mecca. There's three different floors of treasure to be found. Main floor has literally everything. Seems to entice you with what they have to offer. Going up the stairs, there's different rooms that caters to different types. You could walk into a sections that has toys from all eras of life. Some collectibles while some seem a bit creepy. Just in my opinion. It wraps around so there's so much things to look at. The two top floors seem to have more apparel's. Loads of vintage clothing, footwear and accessories. Just going from one section to the other, you're coming into treasures. There were loads of clothing that looked amazing but just like any vintage shop. The sizing varies. It's a hit or miss when it comes to apparel. Regardless, this place had loads of amazing fun vintage items. Clothing, accessories, shows, toys, even things you didn't know existed, they had. A huge selection of band tees, Harley and other tshirt as well. Stocked full of Levis and other denim, leather jackets, cowboy boots, a section on the 2nd floor of 60s and 70s clothing, the 3rd floor features a couple curated spaces with belts and bags and an eclectic display of clothing. Downstairs is a space with the best LPs, he has a ton of rock and metal, plus new wave, punk R and B and much more. The downstairs also has a room toward the back left of the shop filled with clothing and accessories from 00s 90s and current styles like Carhartt, Dr Martens plus cute sweatshirts and sweaters! Amazing number of eclectic items..too much to go through in one visit...they have the best collection of collectibles, all really clean and with prices and descriptions very visible. There are incredible bargains if you are looking for outdoor pieces on their front entryway...lots of beautiful vintage birdhouses, great gift ideas. I have been greeted pleasantly when I walk in, and many of the dealers run sales of between 20 % to 50% off. I really enjoy this Cayucos treasure trove. read more

I was excited to shop here considering I love shopping at antique stores. I'd shopped here before and was very happy with the trinkets that I found there. The prices were fair and of good quality. Unfortunately, the service was dreadful. The man working there clearly did not want to be there. I understand that people can have bad days and that work isn't exactly fun, but working with customers in a respectful manner is half of the job (customer SERVICE). Not only was the worker rude to my friend and I, but also took other customers before fulfilling my request. He had told me to wait a moment before checking out five other people, complaining at having to open the case to retrieve a necklace I'd requested when I had been first in line. Later, when my mother and grandmother shopped at the same store, the same worker was rude to them as well. He refused to wrap up the glassware they'd purchased, simply tossing the wrapping paper at them to do themselves. This slight effort wasn't even offered to my grandmother, whose plate had been haphazardly tossed into a bag. Remember When should teach their workers how to deal politely with customers because the service was some of the worst I've had. read more

This is a "must-do" when visiting Cayucos. Give yourself time enough to browse through 3 floors of antiques and vintage treasures. Vendors rent space in this store, so it is fun to wander through the different areas. Everything is clean and the displays are interesting. Jewelry, art, clothing, tools, toys, musical instruments, records, books...so many items! I love the name of this store, "Remember When". Every time I shop here, I find something that triggers a memory. This time, the memory was "troll dolls". As a child I collected troll dolls, so it was fun to reminisce about my childhood dolls, and wonder why those funny looking dolls became so popular. read more

Not sure why I didn't snap more pictures in and around this large antique store. It has three floors of treasures. We only poked around the main floor for a relatively short time. Some of the vendors do a fabulous job of curating and creatively displaying their offerings. I happened on a four piece setting of one of my dish sets. For an excellent price, I scooped up 4 dinner plates, 4 mugs, 4 bowls, and 2 canisters. They date to the late 90s, so was surprised to see them. This is a small town. The pace is much slower than in the city or even suburbia. Took a long time to check out. I took a few calming breaths and it was all good. Once it was my turn, the cashier was great. We didn't have a lot of time to browse more, which leaves more wonders to discover another time. read more

DONT NOT COME IF YOURE YOUNG THEY WILL KICK YOU OUT!! My friend group and i went in just to browse. my family and friends come here all the time and have never had a problem. HOWEVER when we went in today my friends and i were told to leave our bags at the front desk which is fine, but our bags were small so it did not fall under the LARGE BAG policy the owner told us about. mind you our group is all above the age of 18 we didn't enter the store loud or causing any problems. we always go in but for some reason today we were followed around the store. I understand if there has been lots of thefts recently but we gave her no reason to target us. There were lots of other people with large bags that got to hold onto their bags but we were asked to leave ours up front which was ridiculous in the first place. If there's a bag policy ask everyone to leave the bag at the front not just a small group of younger people!! 5 minutes later she followed us all the way to the top level and asked us to leave with no reason. again we were not being loud, we weren't causing any issues with anyone. As we all walked to the front of the store we got our bags back and we asked why we were being kicked out and why only our group had to leave our bags at the front desk. She just said well it is what is is and then we asked again why we were being kicked out and she said it's because we are young! Seriously!! Didn't realize that store had an age limit now!! If bags were an issue have every costumer leave their bags at the front! We have gone to this store numerous times in the past and have never had an issue. The reasoning she had was so ridiculous! Have the same energy with every costumer if you are going to target us based on age! Seriously do better! The attitude of the lady was ridiculous!! read more

This is a fun antique store with something for everyone. I always browse here when in Cayucus. I was surprised and dismayed, however, when on a recent visit , there was nothing done to safeguard against COVID. No sign at the door asking customers to wear masks or to social distance. No tape to help separate people at the register. And there were several big groups of people browsing the store without masks. One employee did have a mask, the other did not. This was after the governors order that all people are required to wear masks when entering stores and businesses.I appreciate businesses who are law abiding. I won't be back. read more

The Central Coast can be a great place to score antiques if you have a lot of time. There are tons of shops dotted across the region and you can find some unique gems, from 1950s picture books to rhinestone-encrusted clutches. And my favorite: unique and quirky salt and pepper shakers. I can have an entire cabinet devoted to salt and pepper shakers, in all shapes and forms. Remember When is a fun shop to visit when you're in Cayucos, especially after having a hearty breakfast at one of the restaurants nearby. Its right by the beach, in what looks like to be "downtown Cayucos" because there's a cluster of stores, restaurants and bakeries ... too bad it only stretches for about 3 blocks. You need a lot of time for this shop (I spent an hour and didn't even explore half of it.) There are a lot of accessories and jewelry but beware. For the untrained eye, their merchandise seems impressive and even well-priced. However, if you're a frequent vintage shopper, you'll notice that a lot of the jewelry isn't well made and many of their "designer" bags are fake. The good news is the staff is honest about it if you ask. The best scores in this shop are definitely household items, books, and toys, especially if you're into kitsch or into collecting figurines of cows, dogs, and pigs. Just be careful when you swing your purse around - the aisles can be narrow with lots of nooks and crannies and the last thing you want to do is knock down a shelf and be forced to take home a cargo of broken animal figures. read more

I used to go here with friends from up North to try on hats and check out the old-school lunch box collection. I also search this location to find any old medical instruments/medicine bottles for my father's collection. We've found some great stuff here, including a "leacher" (a device used for blood-letting, back when they used to think it was a healthy cure-call) and a medical sterilization tray from the 1920's. read more

Let me preface my review with the fact that my family and I visit Cayucos 3-4 times per year and have browsed and shopped at this store and others many times with no problems. However, I have never reviewed this store before today. And, before our recent visit on 1/6/22 (see Cait L's review), I would have easily rated this store 4-5 stars. It's a lot of fun to walk around and look at all the cool stuff they have. This time, I (dad) walked in, looked around, and then went outside to wait for the rest of my family (as dads are prone to do). After a few minutes my kids (aged 13-22) came out and said that they had been harassed and asked to leave simply because they were young! This has never happened before. I asked what had happened and they said that the girls were asked to leave their purses at the door (although other customers were allowed to keep theirs). Also, while looking at items on the second level, they were told they needed to come downstairs, then told they needed to leave the store entirely. In addition, they had to "remind" the attendant to return one of their purses. I know ... you may be thinking they may have been causing some kind of disturbance. As a dad, that thought crossed my mind as well. But, I did question them about that and they were adamant that they were not being noisy or disruptive at all and that the only reason they were given as to the negative treatment they were given was that they were young. Maybe the store had been recently victimized by some younger people, or maybe they were just having a bad day. I can understand that, but I am disappointed that my family was treated this way and that now, one of our favorite places (Cayucos) will have this negative experience attached to it. It didn't ruin the trip, but it was definitely one of our least favorite moments. Hopefully, we can go back soon and give the store another try. read more

Just a fun place to look through when you stay in Cayucos. I mean, except for the beach, there isn't a whole lot to do here. This store is lots of fun and you can often find a bargain. Most of the prices are too high, but I did find a pyrex bowl that I had been looking for. There are old clothes as well as household goods. read more

I enjoyed this place! The ambiance is a hipster's haven. There are so many different pieces it's hard to categorize the store. Usually, from what I've seen, I can usually say that "this shop" is good for "this", or "that shop" is good for "that", but this one had so many different things stretching across different mediums, time periods, and qualities, that it was kind of an adventure. I came with my college church group to the beach and a few of us got away to check out this shop. We went through all three levels and I ended up buying a backpack and bolo tie, which was a win. The store is a bit expensive, but not more so than most antique shops. There is a cute outdoor area before you walk in which they have succulents and pinterest-y things. It's quite nice. I ended up spotting some cool things, and left quite satisfied. When I had asked the woman working at the front, she gave off an "owner" vibe, she was glad to assist us in finding some cool spots in Morrow Bay to hang out in. She seemed quite passionate in what she did, and that is one of the biggest strengths to me, when operating a store of this nature. If you are looking for something to decorate your house, update your wardrobe (or more appropriately send it back to the 80's), or just hang out, this is definitely a cool spot to check out. This place is a trip. It's a consignment shop that claims to sell antiques. Not everything in the place is an antique, and some of the stuff is not worth the price, but there are bargains to find and maybe that little treasure you've been looking for. Some of their venders are selling items that are common things you can buy at any store. Such as ramune soda bottles for 12 dollars, which you can just buy at any Japanese grocery store. Also the people at the front desk were just a a bit rude and pretentious. read more

Remember When Antiques attempts to camouflage common items amidst their handful of actual antiques. Many of the items are overpriced and kept in very poor condition. If you're from a large city where it's common place to barter and trade in an antique store, don't try to do that here. The women at the front desk acted as though they had never heard of the concept and gave me an attitude unlike anything I've ever encountered. I touched a fur shawl and was searching for a price when I was publicly scolded by the employee telling me I had to stop touching it. My mom loves antiquing but never will we set foot in here again!!! The clerks were UNBELIEVABLY RUDE!!! The blonde clerk passed between me and what I was looking at three times without ever saying "Excuse me". I thought perhaps she was just tired until she scowled at me on her third pass. The brunette clerk followed my mom and me to a corner section where I was helping my mom look for blue earrings. The clerk pretended to go and move something near us but kept looking at our hands as if to check that we weren't going to steal something. When I took the earrings up to the counter, the blonde asked the price of the earrings. The brunette said, "Four dollars." The blonde didn't say anything while I was looking but when I turned to pay, she shook her head "no" to the brunette. As if I had somehow changed the price tag!! My father watched the whole thing from his chair near the front door. I never steal ... EVER!!! I make way more money than most people my age. Plus...I hadn't even taken my purse in, and my pockets were occupied by my keys and the money I took from my wallet to buy my mom her stuff. Where would I have stashed something? My bra??? You two ladies should be embarrassed of your shameful behavior towards an elderly couple and daughter whom only wanted to enjoy their Sunday afternoon at your store. You lost 3 great customers who were looking forward to coming back and spending a few hundred bucks at your store. read more
