For our lunch break during the El Yunque National Forest tour, our guides dropped us off on this strip of kiosk restaurants and recommended Rellena'o as her favorite. This is essentially a chipotle-style Puerto Rican rice bowl. You choose your base, protein, sauce, and topping (one of each). I decided on the Mamposteao Rice Bowl with Octopus Salad, Garlic Cream, and Pork Rind Crumbs ($15). Also, added a Pina Colada ($10) since we're on the beach. The rice bowl is a bit small and pricey, but it is very delicious. I loved sauce including all the hot sauces you can also add on. The rice is fried up and then smashed, so there's some nice crispy edges. Also, they have a bathroom that they need to buzz you into for use.
Do I recommend? Holy cow yes! Delicious fast eats on the beach! Their menu is simple, make a bowl. You customize it with the base, protein, sauce and toppings. We got the rice, fried pork, garlic cilantro sauce and topped with chicharron Some how they made the rice crispy in the bowl, like pressed it on a hot skillet or something but it was delicious! Pina coladas were also hitting, very yum!
Mofongo Bar! Mofongo your way. Plantains or Yuca. Numerous options for meat, sauces/creams and toppings. I went with the Mofongo de Platanos w/ shrimp in a garlic cream sauce and topped with a root vegetable crumble & bacon. The dish was excellent. It's a lil dense so the sauces on the side helped a lot. I'd definitely recommend in your in the area.
Came here after a long day at El Yunque with our tour guide. My partner ordered the smoked pork plantain mofongo with garlic cream which was exceptional. The only reason I didn't order it is because I don't like smoked meat. Don't come at me. I ordered the same except I went with the beef instead, beef was okay. They had various hot sauces that were amazing, especially the green sauce. The employee absolutely got us hooked on Hennessy piña colada and it was absolutely amazing and we had...a few. First time my partner had mofongo and I was so happy
We went to the Luquillo kiosks for dinner on our first day in Puerto Rico. The staff here was very knowledgeable about food restrictions and allergies which was great. Service was pretty quick as well and the staff checked on us after serving us to make sure everything was good. Having a quick dinner here and relaxing on the beach to watch the sunset was a very chill way to spend the evening. If you need some great food with chill vibes on the beach the Rellena'o kiosk is a great choice.
Stopped by the kiosks for some food and chose this one. SO SO happy with our choice because this place was so freaking good! My friends and I ordered two MOFONGO YUCAS. One with carne ahumada frita (fried smoked pork), chimichurri/recao and crocante platanutre (crunchy plantain). The second one for our vegetarian friend with guiso de berengena (steamed eggplant), chimichurri/piña, and crocante platanutre. Both options were cooked and prepped to perfection that we basically inhaled them. Every bite was savored and there was a lot of head nodding and "mmmm's" being thrown around. Highly recommend this kiosk when you're passing through Luquillo. We will definitely be back on our next trip.
Probably the only kiosk I can and would recommend. The staff is incredibly nice and patient. They explained the menu in detail. They also could have pointed us to the English menu we discovered later on but instead just talked us through the options. They were also very transparent with what had pork in it. Reasonably priced at $12-$15 for a bowl of ceviche or shrimp. Ceviche Hut, two kiosks down didn't bother to acknowledge us and I am glad that led us to leaving because Ceviche Huts prices for ceviche were significantly higher. I got the shrimp bowl over yucca which was mashed with garlic and not bland. I chose the creole sauce which paired well with the shrimp. We also got the mixed ceviche over yucca which was cold and hit the mark. We opted out of getting sauce with the ceviche as it is already wet. They have tables in the back. There is no trash can in the area which is terrible for the environment.
After the El Yunque Rainforest tour the driver stopped right in front of this kiosk and understand why. Rellena'o was absolutely amazing! There is an English version menu to the side of the kiosk with the different options. You cannot go wrong with any combination! The staff was very patient and recommend some of their favorites if you get stuck. It's also reasonably priced especially with the big portion that they give you. Don't get fooled with the size of cup because it's absolutely filling. You can either eat at the side bar, the back which they provide some tables and chairs, or wonder a little further and enjoy your food on the beach (highly recommend).
First time trying mofongo here and it was great! We shared a mofongo de plátano with camarones, sauced with criolla, topped with crocante de malanga. The service was friendly and they helped us with each addition. They said the wait would be about 8 minutes for the mofongo. The area itself is pretty busy and there's pretty limited parking. They have some nice tables near the beach to eat the meal and can also just stand. I would highly recommend a visit as they have plenty of options for their bowls and a vegan one, too!
Oh my gosh. This place was so freaking good. We did the El Yunque Rainforest tour as many other people writing these reviews. We were starving and hangry. We finally settled on this kiosk and it was one of the best lunches we had. Seriously, the rice was AMAZING. The shrimp was perfectly cooked. The pineapple and chicharron toppings were so delicious. They gave sweet, salty, crunchy and filling all at the same time. TOTALLY go to this place if you find yourself in this area! We sat out back behind the stand and there was super loud music playing, but it was some of my favorites from the 90s/early 2000s so I wasn't even upset about it.
The BEST Mofongo we had on our trip. We chose the Mofongo de yucca with meat, pineapple chinnichurri sauce and plaintain bit toppings. This came out to ~$18 post tax. The Mofongo was so flavorful and didn't have big clumps of yucca in it. We loved this dish so much. I would probably try a different protein though since the meat was churrasco and we assumed it would be grilled, but it was stewed. The fried pork would probably have been better. Other than this, you HAVE to try!

Superb dining & customer service experience. We stopped at this port while cruising, and this authentic cuisine was phenomenal! The food cane in medium-sized bowls, so we assumed they'd be filled with rice, but we were wrong! Those bowls had soooooo much meat, neither of us could finish even half! We could've actually shared one, it was that much meat in one! The restaurant was simple, but beautifully decorated with admirable murals! We're thinking of going back just to spend some time in San Juan....if we do, we'll definitely go eat here again! read more

Wow. What an addition to the Luquillo dining scene. This place is far from a "fast casual" place. It takes a while to get your perfect bowl but well worth it! With a spectacular sauce, perfectly cooked shrimp, lots of toppings, and a Medalla to wash it down, it was indeed a wonderful meal to satisfy us while near the beach. The hot sauces were great too. I almost regret not having ordered enough food to try different types of hot sauce. The only criticism would be that the bowl is too small to hold all the food and toppings. It was a bit hard to eat but this criticism is only bc I didn't want to drop and waste any of the good food. Will definitely be back when I'm in PR. read more

Stopped by the kiosks for some food and chose this one. SO SO happy with our choice because this place was so freaking good! My friends and I ordered two MOFONGO YUCAS. Carry out your food. There's is nowhere for you to eat here at all. The bowls look good. Better to come when the sun is not beating down then. Will come back in the evening when it's not so blazing hot outside. read more

Build your own mofongo? Yes please. I love the concept & the food was Delish. I got the plátano base, shrimp, chicharrón crumbles, and chimichurri sauce. The bowl looks small but it was SO filling. We sat in the back to eat & walked to the beach for a little afterwards. read more

They have one choice for vegan mofongo stuffed with stewed eggplant and it is AMAZING! Very tasty! So hard to find vegan food in PR, but this was great. Ate while sitting watching the sunset at the beach! read more
I really wanted to visit the kiosks before I went back home so went online to read reviews and this place came highly recommended, so I knew I had to stop. It was raining heavy, and it was during the early afternoon and some kiosks were closed but thankfully Rellena'o was open. Read the menu, it explains the ordering process and it should be pretty simple. The service was so-so, not rude or anything just okay. I ordered Mofongo Yuca with camarones, salsa ajillo, and crocante platanutre for $14.00. This meal was DELICIOUS, so much flavor and super filling. Amazing mofongo and a must if you're visiting the kiosks. #40 Kiosk and you will not be disappointed. I ended up grabbing a drink from the bar next door and sitting in their patio area eating my meal while listening to music from the speaker. read more

We visited many restaurants on the island and consumed multiple mofongo dishes. I rate them as having the BEST stuffed mofongo during our trip. We went here after hiking in El Yunque and I had the chicken with plantain and creole sauce and it was absolutely amazing! My partner raved about the pork with yuca. Overall they are doing their thing here! read more

This place is delicious, has great portion sizes, and is reasonably priced. The server was very helpful in making recommendations based off of which filling you wanted. They also have a bar behind the restaurant with $10 extra large Mojitos with several different flavors. Loved this place! read more

This place is legit. Kind of like a chipotle, but for mofungo. You get to pick your own base and toppings. We got ours with pulpo. It was fresh and delicious. Limited seating, but we took ours to go - great amount of food for what we paid. Awesome value! read more
