I felt kind of guilty for seeking this place out (a friend who lives nearby recommended it) in the…read morefirst place, since I've been trying to economize lately. And having read some of the earlier reviews, I was prepared for this place to sell $200 scarves and candles. That being said, Nest does indeed sell high-end merch like jewelry. It would not be out of place in the South End. The walls were full of art from a local photographer that was amazing, but I don't have $325 to drop on a 24 x 8 inch panel right now. It's definitely one of the best-smelling stores I have ever been to, but the most expensive candle was $48, not two bills. However, there was a pretty sizeable selection of "reasonably priced" items, like $24 scarves, wine racks on sale, little foodstuff items, hair accessories. I ended up picking up two $12 leather-and-studded headbands which were cool. It's definitely the kind of place where you're either shopping for yourself or a woman whose taste you know really, really well. Because you're dealing with a home store with an independently-curated selection of stuff, the gifts aren't safely generic like Pottery Barn or Williams-Sonoma--I hope that makes sense. I really have a bias against indifferent customer service. So the only serious ding was that the woman behind the counter basically did not acknowledge or speak to me until I asked if I could put the headbands at the register while I shopped some more--she was sweet as could be and chatty after that. There was only one other customer in the store, who also got ignored until she made a purchase. I don't like feeling like I have to pay to get a hello out of someone. But I'll definitely be back again sometime the next time I'm in the nabe.

The store 'Nest' is just as charming as it's name. However, more people should find this hidden gem..!! From shabby and fun home decor to funky rugs, jewelry, candles and bags, they've got a nice mix of hip designers and styles. It's similar to the store Anthropology, however less pricey and not a chain or large business. I was just there today and purchased a fabulous Angela Adams rug, full of textures, moss greens, rich browns and honeys. This great little store is sure to inspire whether it be home or self..

Gary inspected the ring in great detail and made a recommendation to remove some of the shank and rebuild it, as well as to place tension springs to prevent spinning and slipping. He took his time to measure my finger for the optimal fit. I was told by another jeweler that all of my prongs needed replacement and I wanted a second opinion. Gary again took his time to inspect all the prongs and reassured me that they didn't need replacement. I was very glad for his honesty. The next business day, Gary fixed the ring in 3-4 hours and it came out beautifully. I was so nervous previously to entrust someone with my ring, but I felt at ease. Gary offered that I stay and watch the entire process. He told me to inspect my gemstone carefully after his job was complete as general good practice after having my jewelry worked on! I am so happy with the end result and strongly recommend this jeweler. The key factors that impressed me most were honesty, trustworthiness, attention to detail, patience, mastery of his craft, and sharing of knowledge/providing an understandable rationale for his decision-making. I will absolutely be returning for intermittent ring checks!

I find her better than stylists on Newbury Street. Laura is an awesome colorist as well. I have had many different colors and all came out just the way I expected them to. I'm so glad I did. Walking past, it looks like it's closed... like maybe it went out of business years ago (maybe because the door is covered by a steel screen). Inside, the decor is kitchy, retro, and somewhat cluttered. It is filled with old, dusty boxes of old hair products and beauty shop memorabilia. There are two hairdressers there: Laura and Dominique. The latter did my hair. Both hairdresser's are chatty and engaging. While I was there, an old lady was getting an old-fashioned set and several colorful characters came in to say hello or got great haircuts before my eyes. There was lively conversation going on the whole time I was there. To my delight, there's a little WiFi creeping in at the front of the store, so I got to do a little surfing while I waited for my foils to take. About the hair. This is the best color I've gotten in a long while. Dominique really listened to me and told me that was something Laura really stressed when she started there. She knew exactly what I was asking for, asked the right questions to understand what I meant, then made suggestions and checked them out with me. The cut is great, too. Perfect for my hair. I needed some layers to thin it out a bit, and layers I have. I have naturally dark ash blonde hair, and she wove in 2 colors for a perfect blonde with depth. I'm a happy camper. And for the low, low price of $70, I will SO be back. A few important details: They seem to run very much on time, which I love. Also, this is a cash/check only joint. No credit cards allowed.
