She also gets to the bottom of an issue faster because she's actually listening to what's going on and taking her time to examine your pet and be thorough. She will recommend something that makes sense and is actually necessary instead of imagining everything under the sun that could conceivably be wrong with your furball, taking advantage of your love and concern for your pet, and throwing the whole kitchen sink at the problem costing you a small fortune. I really appreciate that, cause it is far too common in my experience for that to happen. She's seen both my cat and my dog quite a few times (and Dr. Welsh a couple times who's cool too btw!) and provided some relief for my dog very quickly for an issue my old vet had me confused about for ages and had me routinely concerned about and spending money on with absolutely no results. She did everything she could to help my dear Kitty (and me) through his last days which was very hard. He was 12 years old and suffering from kidney disease. (PSA, when your cat gets a little older, like 7- fact check me w/ a doctor cause I read this online- make sure to get annual bloodwork done to check for this type of thing, I had no idea how important it was, and dogs can get it too!) I've heard that many vets automatically view kidney disease as an immediate death sentence and will advise you put your pet down right away. Dr. Todd considers the quality of life of the pet first and does her best to find a way to sustain a good quality of life for them as long as is possible rather than throwing her hands in the air and saying oh well. When the time did come to say goodbye, she was extremely helpful, took the time to answer all my questions, never pressured me, and handled the situation with grace and compassion. The staff in general seem very compassionate and understanding and it makes a big difference in a time like that when your vet place is full of people who actually care vs impersonal places that treat you and your pet like a number. The receptionists deserve mentioning as well because they're the first faces you see when you come in and therefore the first impression you get. The front of house in any business really impacts the overall experience for better or worse. Here they are all professional, respectful, and good natured. I only have good things to say about them and their furry companions who roam the office (there's a very handsome and affectionate office cat who's usually in the front and some bring their dogs to work too so they might come say hi!) Anyway, they work hard behind the scenes being diligent about important phone calls etc so that things can get moved along quickly for your pet. Seems like a given, but because you may have noticed this review is half review, half rant about *other* vets () I can say from experience that not everyone is this way. For example, if I have to order something online for my pets that requires vet approval they always approve it in a timely manner. They seem to like each other too and it comes across as a happy work environment which is nice. So if you're new to the area or sick to death of your current vet cause you can't trust them or pay their ridiculous prices, go to Court Street Animal Hospital, you will not be sorry!

The whole team here have an excellent ability for customer service and communication. My past year and a half experience with the hospital has been excellent for myself and my geriatric dog. We've been going to Groomingdales for a couple years now. My dog always leaves looking absolutely adorable. He's never afraid to walk inside, which is the first sign I would look for to know how he's being treated inside. Believe me, there have been other places where he would run in the opposite direction. Here, he voluntarily walks right in. Peggy and her staff genuinely care about animals. They are all sweet, loving, and attentive to your pet. One HUGE bonus - this is a completely cage-free environment. There's a little vinyl picket fence keeping the dogs secure inside the building and away from the front door but other than that they have freedom to walk around, play, or just snuggle up on a dog bed and take a nap. It's almost like I'm sending my pooch to daycare to go play with his friends and get a spa treatment. Prices are extremely reasonable. Expect for your pet to take a few hours though because they are getting pampered with the utmost quality. They offer teeth cleaning at a fraction of the cost of a vet visit for the same results. Location could be a bit of a negative, it's in a plaza immediately off US19 so it can be tough leaving when there's a lot of traffic. What's that I'm always saying? She spends at least 30 minutes with my cat at each visit, writes notes to me about the visit, how my cat seemed, what his behavior was like, how he was eating, etc.. Sue also writes down everything she did while she was there at my house, i.e. she doesn't just dip the litter box---if it smells, she empties and cleans it! She sweeps up the litter, and wipes out the sink at every visit. When I get home from my trips, I always find a happy cat and my house in very clean condition. I have used A Bow Meow Affair for over a year now for approximately 5 different trips. I can't say enough good things about Sue Brooks and this company.
