It's time for me to own up…read more Maintaining this level of hideousness does not come without a cost. I love Kiehl's products, but that is not the reason I am giving this particular store 5 stars. The men's section is just inside the doorway. You can't miss it, all products are in a very masculine navy blue. The checkout and staff are usually located at the back of the store. This is perfect. If I am feeling particularly unsociable, I can step inside the store, browse the men's products and then exit the store quickly should one of the staff step towards me. I often don't want to conversate for two reasons. 1: Because I want some time to let my scepticisim and curiosity breathe. I want some time to see what's on offer, read about the ingredients, smother some shit on my wrists and navigate my way through the complex world of male skincare. Alone. 2: I don't want them judging me. Sometimes beauty consultants will come over and say things like "What skincare do you use at the moment?". They know full well what they are doing. They see this face and their soul screams, "How can he leave the house like that!", but through their leading questions they supress their disgust. This makes me feel awkward. Fortunately, the staff in Kiehls are polite and not intrusive. They might ask if you need any help, but if you say no, they will leave you alone. If you do ask for help, you don't feel patronised and they genuinely make an effort to try and help. You should also know that they have a one month return policy. So if you try one of the producs sand it doesn't work out, you can return the product. I also like that all the products are neatly aligned and there is always a tester available for whatever product you're considering. Ask if you can try some samples and the staff will guide the way. I kind of like that they all wear white lab coats. I've just realised, that probably tricks me into thinking the place is super clean and sterile. Smart. I have one tip for them. They should diffuse Kiehl's Musk Eau de Toilette throughout the store. It's an incredible scent.

Kiehl's is an American high-end cosmetics company, selling items such as cleansers, toners,…read moremoisturisers, shampoo and perfume. I've been wanting to try their products for a long time, but had never gotten around to buying any. I was recently bought a gift set containing a full size face wash, toner and a moisturiser, but unfortunately I felt like it's not quite right for my skin. I went back to Kiehl's today to get some advice on possibly changing the type of products I need to use on my skin. When going into a higher-end shop I always worry that I'm going to be given the hard sell and feel pressurised into buying something, but this was not the case at Kiehl's at all. The lady who was assisting me was really helpful and was happy to ask me any questions I had about the products. I ended up buying a new facial wash, and was told that there is a 28 day guarantee whereby you can bring your products back to exchange or refund should the product not be quite right for your skin! I wish I had known this before as I would definitely have swapped the products that I was gifted. I did a little research in to the company and found out that Kiehl's don't really advertise; instead they have built a customer base on word of mouth, and giving out samples with every purchase. I was given three samples today, and they weren't just random samples thrown in to the bag, but samples of products that I might find better for my skin. I've tried one of them already and I'm really pleased with the results. I'm going to be using Kiehl's a lot more in future, their products may cost slightly more than high street brands but the quality of the products, service and information you get when buying their products is worth it.

As soon as you walk up the stairs you are surrounded by a calm atmosphere, relaxing scents and soothing music. There are three floors of treatment rooms offering a wide range of beauty treatments. Very professional, friendly staff in a lovely environment - I will definitely be back for more!

Novice level extensions I'm afraid. I wanted sculpted gel,…read moreI emailed the salon before making an appointment and was assured that I would get sculpted gels. Went ahead and booked the appointment to be advised upon turning up that they would be acrylic extensions instead. Decided to continue with the appointment as it was a treat for me to have someone else do my nails for a change.....I should have booked elsewhere I think! I have come away with unbalanced extensions, side walls of my nails bulge out disproportionately, the nails were not paired on each hand to match up the lengths (thumbs, forefingers, ring fingers etc are all longer or shorter than the other hand). I wanted almond shaped nails with a slightly rounded point and brought photos of a) what my nails were previously when I had down them and b) what shape and length I ideally wanted to aim for. Whilst I appreciate that an exact match from a photo is a tall ask for any of us, having nails that match each other is desirable! Some are slightly pointy, some are slightly rounded or squared off at the free edge. The centre of the points is not signed the the centre of the nail so I have some nails that slope off either left or right. The product is too thick at the cuticle so even though these extensions are a few days old, when the product grows out they are going to look horrendous. To top it off I have 6 cuts across 3 fingers and a thumb where the tech caught my cuticles when "shaping" my extensions so for the last few days I have had very sore fingers and the occasional bleeding from the thumb!! This to me, is a novice error as files should be files to reduce the sharpness of the edges on new files (although she wasn't using new files, just a lot of force!) An insight into a nail tech would be the state of their own nails. It was kind of a golden rule when I trained that your nails were always a direct advertisement of your work so should therefore display a clean, tidy, professional image - at least painted!!!! My nail techs hands appeared hard worked. The nails were in need of filing, were chipped and peeling with very little polish left on any of the nails. I trained years ago as a nail tech and considered this a one off treat as I have never had someone else do my nails (certainly not outside nail systems training). Even with my lack of exposure to clients (as I didn't pursue it as a full time profession) I would never a) let someone walk away with what is currently on my hands without working to fix the overall structure of the nails, shape, lengths, thickness, lumps on the surface, the hairs that are set into the gel top coat the she put on top - you know, the little things!!! or b) feel that I could charge for this set. Seriously disappointed in the quality of these, will not be returning, will be continuing to do my own, will be exploring bolt on courses to further my training - although it appears my own standards of working practises, performance, service delivery and what I would be prepared for someone to walk away with are evidently higher as they currently stand. I'll give 2 stars because the staff are nice and friendly and the decor looks clean. They appear to soak metal utensils in barbicide which is always a bonus but I doubt they use disinfectible files and don't recall the tech spraying the files before she used them.

The premises are small and simply decorated with two treatment rooms. I was excited to see a beautician's withing walking distance of my flat so went along for some waxing. I had the complete attention of the beautician but I have to say that I wasn't very impressed with the wax- they left areas still covered in hair and didn't treat my skin to prevent rashes or ingrowing hair. It was all very rushed and painful- no effort to soothe the pain. It is certainly convenient for locals and perhaps the other treatments are better but I won't be returning for a wax!

I've been rubbish at doing any exercise, but have been eating very healthily. I thought i wouldn't see any results but i definitely have... of course now i just wish i'd kept up with my jogging too! I love that it is a 5 minute walk from home and the very personal service i get too. I read the review above, i've had my legs waxed too and it wasn't painful (well no more than i should be!) and was definitely had wax removal & aftercare. Wherever i've been there has always been a bit of wax remaining, including in the really expensive places in town, so maybe that person just had an off day. I would hate to think someone wouldn't go because of the above review.

I've seen other acupuncturists before and have always found it nice for general well-being (stress, sleep issues, stiffness in the body from too much computer work). Her electro-acupuncture treatment approach stands out. She is particularly good at investigating beyond the surface problem to working out the real cause so the patient can make changes in habits and they don't have to keep coming back for the same thing. The use of electrodes is quite pleasant and seems to speed recovery so you need fewer sessions. You also get good guidance on a healthy diet for your type according to Chinese medicine that helps to boost energy. Nicky has helped me overcome everything from heavy colds, sprained and puffy ankles, MS symptoms and even a veruca! All this has been very impressive but what has been truly life changing is that I have m had the confidence to give up medicines that were making me feel very ill and ironically contributed to the deterioration of how I walk. This confidence that acupuncture can support me far more effectively than pharmaceuticals has come gradually. My main regret is that I didn't realise this earlier in life. My fears of getting ill were causing me to take medicines that gave me a long list of unnecessary new health problems to deal with! Acupuncture is natural yet seems powerful and very preside in how it works. I'm no longer willing to put toxic chemicals into my body when the doctors dint really understand what is going on as the body does it's best to deal with them.

I went to my GP about 18 months ago and was prescribed antihistamine pills and steroid nasal sprays. I even was referred to the hospital which I attended three times and the result was....keep taking what your GP has given you! Nothing was really working even if I was taking the highest dosage of antihistamine, using the nasal sprays and doing nasal douches religiously. The last straw was when about 3 months ago I went back to the GP who prescribed me a drug that is normally given to patients with very strong asthma and the pharmacist told me that she was surprised I had been prescribed such a strong medicine for rhinitis and she went one to mention a long list of very bad side effects! I refused to take this drug and decided I had to look for some other solution that was not western medicine as I was filling my body with chemicals that were doing absolutely nothing for my condition. That's when a colleague at work suggested acupuncture and Nicky. I have had three treatments and I can finally breathe!!! I can taste food again, I can sleep, my mood and energy levels have improved dramatically! Three treatments was all it took! I went back yesterday nonetheless and will keep going for follow up treatments or whenever needed but I am overwhelmed by the positive results in just over a month. I should have gone to see Nicky much earlier instead of taking all the medicines I was ingesting. I can't recommend acupuncture and Nicky enough. It truly works, it's not painful and Nicky is a fantastic and knowledgeable professional.

And as I sat waiting for my wax appointment, I did feel terribly scruffy in my parka and trainers. However, the staff were genuinely lovely- really welcoming and efficient...and although I felt like I'd walked into a Baby Spice beauty salon, I began to sort of like the ostentatiousness of it all! But I wasn't there to inspect the decor, so let's get down to the nitty gritty. Waxing is never pleasant and I, with a particularly low pain threshold, have always found bikini waxing to be something of a complete and utter nightmare! I usually book appointments and then chicken out at the last minute. I have been back to this place twice now, so that's saying something! The girl who did my wax was chirpy, competent and above all QUICK! Her name is Rene and she is definitely the best waxer I've ever been to. At £10, its also much cheaper than many other places in town! Now, let's return momentarily to the Pink Champagne Nail Bar. That's right, you can sip champagne whilst having your nails done. What will they think of next? So, if you want a manicure with a fancy twist, this is the place for you!
