But I will ask next time I visit. While meditation is a technique practiced mostly by Buddhist, its popularity has grown over the years due to the health benefits it brings. Nowadays many people who are not a part of the Buddhist community practice this form of mind decluttering. If you are into natural medicines I recommend checking them out https://meditationingeorgia.org. Meditation is known to alleviate stress, anxiety, improve your attention span and mental heath, and many more. What I like about Kadampa is that they offer a slew of class & events to enlighten you about the practice. Also, every Friday at 6:30pm they host a Free Meditation & Dinner Social event; every Saturdays at 8:00am they host Free Meditations in the Park-which is currently being held inside the facility due to the weather.

Thus, I guess, no better and worse. So, to tell you that this place is fabulous might be a bit anti-Buddhist. Good thing for you, I'm not far enough along my path to make those judgments. If you're looking for a safe and inviting place, that is, nonetheless, serious about Buddhist studies, this is a fantastic place. Sunday morning "classes" (they are not referred to as "services"), are open to anyone, and involve meditation, followed by a lesson offered by Gen Kelsang Mondrub is a close disciple of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. Gen Mondrub is humble, often referencing his own challenges and fallibility, while offering wise, accessible, and inspirational lessons. A childrens' class is offered next door, offering genuine Buddhist teachings in a manner accessible to little ones (with time for coloring and arts and crafts thrown in, too.) Parents can stay with their children or go to the adult class. The center also runs the absolutely delightful vegetarian Buddhist cafe down the street-- the World Peace Cafe. But, as Buddha said, "Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense. "

They have a nice variety of classes and instructors, cap each class at 10 people total, and is non-heated (which I personally prefer). The first time it's hard to find, as it's nestled back behind the complex of businesses, but parking is easy and it's super accessible. It's no-frills, no gimmicks, just real yoga, in a cheery, bright, and cozy location with kind staff.

Sunny Street Yoga is the studio I have been looking for! There are so many things I like about this…read morestudio - I'll address them in the order of things that appeal to me most. First, Sunny Street limits class sizes to 10. I LOVE that classes never feel crowded, and I never have to rush to get there too early for a spot. Additionally, I never have to worry about the potential awkwardness of touching strangers accidentally in class. (Okay, there are certainly worse things, but this is so awkward, right?!) Next, this is truly a studio that offers many styles of practice. If you are looking for strength and stamina, you can find it. If you are looking for restoration and meditation, you can find it. If you are looking for a flow that combines the two, yep - you can find it. Like an earlier reviewer, I am LOVING the Ashtanga classes. Additionally, all levels of practice are welcomed. Props are readily available, and modifications and enhancements are offered for many asanas. In my experience, classes typically have participants that reflect a range of experience levels. All are welcomed and encouraged. I have never seen anyone pushed beyond their comfort level. All instructors I've practiced with (I have been to classes offered by five different instructors) have been incredibly knowledgeable, welcoming, and encouraging. I regularly sign up for classes with all of them as my schedule allows. Sunny Street has a handy app for class registration. All classes require registration in advance, and the app makes it so easy to check out the schedule and register for classes. It is super user-friendly. You can also monitor the number of participants who have registered for upcoming classes. Sunny Street also offers other wellness classes and special events, such as book clubs, circles, and general wellness events. They also sponsor events in the community, such as Friday morning yoga at the Forum. There appear to be a number of opportunities to connect with other people who practice at the studio if you are interested in doing so. Finally, it is easy to get in and out of - open parking lot and close to a number of neighborhoods. Classes are affordable and membership is a great value! I highly recommend a visit. Did I mention that they have great offers for visiting guests? Check them out on social media or their website for more details. See you at the studio!

The owner for whatever reason doesn't want to know the location of the studio to the public except to clients. Basically, read the text message she sends, and it should be in Virginia-Highlands area. If you are going near Trader Joe's, you are in the wrong location. HOWEVER... I am giving 5 stars despite that inconvenience because of how amazing the massage experience is. I have been getting massages since I was a teen and Krista is probably the 2nd best massage I have ever received period. As someone who does a lot of sports stuff, I need regular massages monthly, and Krista just gave a magical healing experience.

I got a treatment from krista using sound therapy and vibration and while I'm still a little shocked that it helped, it HELPED SO MUCH! Almost immediately I could hold weight on that foot. It was a little incredible. Going into my appointment I really thought my session would be more therapeutic for the stress of not being able to walk anywhere, not actually address the "not being able to walk" part of it. I highly recommend Krista!

Tibetan Buddhism is unique since it's sort of still Mahayana Buddhism but can be categorized as Vajrayana Buddhism. I never really understood Theravada Buddhism. My husband is Cambodian and I have a lot of Laotian friends. I've attended their temples and didn't understand it. What I love about Vajrayana Buddhism is how beautifully colorful it is to teaching you self-love and meditation. Everyone is invited. Free meditation sessions every Sunday from 11 am - Noon. Donations accepted. Gift shop with beautiful souvenirs. Everyone is very welcoming. The first three rows are for those who want to sit down on floor level to meditate. There are pillows for comfort. I sat in the front, in the middle. The monk is very well articulated and spoke with a little humor. What he speaks about is "common sense" but it will make you think again. About your life. About what it means to live. Towards the end, there was a 20ish minutes session of meditation to clear your mind. I love it! I plan to more and often again. Everyone should take time for self-love. 252/2019
