We were given a more yet poorly updated room with a jacuzzi. Super unimpressed with the number of staff not wearing masks as Covid numbers are at an all time high. Spent the weekend here on a de-stress getaway…read more When we arrived on Friday at 8:00pm, the parking lot and entrance was a complete sheet of ice. What's more is that the entrance is up a pretty steep hill. It was so slippery our car couldn't get up so we had to park in the lot at the bottom of the hill and walk up with our bags. OIE. We were pretty upset upon arrival after having almost fallen and broken our necks 10 times on the way up. The story was: their contractor who applies the rocks & sand was called hours ago and they had no idea where he was. Be it true, that was extremely dangerous for us. They should be more diligent with that hill or they may run into legal problems. Having said that, you may wonder why I've given this place a 4 star ? The icy welcome aside, we had a great time. 8 outdoor Jacuzzis, 1 indoor pool, 1 indoor hot tub (with jets), 1 steam room, and massage services. It is ultimate relaxation. The restaurant is in the hotel, right by the spa and it was excellent. Facilities are very clean. The outdoor Jacuzzis are too cool! The room we had was cozy but quite small. Our room had a King sized bed, it was very comfortable. The owner told us they will be upgrading the rooms soon. We received $35 off our next stay anytime... even high season. We will definitely be going back!

Of the places we stayed on our trip along the Petit Trail Du Nord, this was our least favorite…read more Although the rooms were nice and very comfortable, we found the staff to be unfriendly and the food at the B&B outrageously expensive. When we rode in with our family after biking, the staff were not very welcoming and, in fact, made us feel like we were imposing on them. As very low maintenance travelers, we found it odd that this vibe was given off and we found it uncomfortable. Hard to exactly say what it was, but we found that we always felt that we were doing something wrong...not a fond feeling when traveling! The food was also unreasonably expensive. $22.00 pp for breakfast! No thanks!

We stayed with another couple at Prema Shanti in July 2013 while we were biking from Mont-Laurier…read moreto St-Jerome on Le P'tit Train du Nord rail trail. The inn is about 1 km SE of the center of Val-David on Lac Dore, a small, quiet lake (no power boats). The inn has a private swim beach, dock, and platform. The inn is easily accessible from the rail trail, though not obvious. We arrived in the afternoon and were given rooms in an annex building across a quiet street. Our rooms had therapeutic baths, rather than showers, so we asked to be moved to rooms with showers, and they seemed happy to switch us. Since we were across the street, our rooms did not have a view of the lake, but the rooms were comfortable, air conditioned, and nicely furnished, if somewhat oddly arranged. The beds were very comfortable. We seemed to be the only occupants in the annex, and the doors of the unoccupied rooms were left standing open, so we walked around and looked into some of the rooms. Some of those bedrooms were truly luxurious! But those rooms had the therapeutic baths, not showers. The inn provided secure storage for our bikes in a separate building. It was a fairly hot day for Quebec, so we spent some time swimming in the lake before dinner. Just lovely. Kayaks and paddleboards were also available at the beach. Dinner was outstanding, and the service was excellent. The tables look out over the lake, a lovely setting. Apparently, breakfast is normally served starting at 9 am, but we asked if we could have breakfast at 8 am, to get an earlier start biking. Again, the staff seemed happy to accommodate us, and we were served breakfast at 8 am. Breakfast was also excellent. Definitely staying here again next time we are in the area. Note: All of the rooms at this inn are apparently different. There is an online photo gallery of the rooms here http://www.premashanti.ca/en/galerie.php?cat=5 so that you can reserve a room that you will like. The majority of the rooms seem to have therapeutic baths, not showers, so if you require a shower, make sure that you reserve a room that has a shower. The annex building is across a quiet street, so those rooms do not have a view of the lake. But they are otherwise very nice rooms.

Here for a work conference/retreat, now for the second year in a row. Clearly they take feedback…read morebecause the service of snacks and coffee during our hours-long sessions was phenomenal compared to the previous year. As always, the food on-site is delicious. The location is gorgeous and approachable. There are hiking trails (skiing/snow-mobiling in winter?) a half mile walk from the resort, and trails nearby. The road around Lac Dupois is exactly 3.1/miles (5K) from door to door of the resort, which is nice for those of us who enjoy a morning jog each morning. Beware of mosquitoes or flies in the June-July months though! The rooms are lovely, there are two different sides of the resort. I have now stayed on both and I prefer the side with the pool because of the ability to open the wall in the bathroom to open up the space! It's just me, so it's nice to have a lot of natural light. In the side I stayed in this time (waterfront/beachfront), the bathroom is closed off and dark without the lights on. Still a spacious room with a fireplace and lounge area and kitchenette, but the bathtub is uninspired on this side! What didn't go well, this time at least... upon checkout, we confirmed I had no incidentals, and I did not drink any of the in-room bottles of wine (this is a work trip, I am one person, I can't do that + I simply didn't!). But! Once I arrived home, I received an invoice for a bottle of wine (incidental) from my room. I followed the instructions to file a ticket to get support, and received no response. I followed up twice to the original ticket. After a day, I saw the charge post to my credit card I left for incidentals. I created a NEW ticket in case the first accidentally got closed. No response. Unfortunately I had to dispute the charge. I noticed after the dispute they attempted again to charge the card for the wine (I did not have), so I had to work with the card support (Apple Card support is very helpful) and they advised to rotate the card number. They ended up favoring me in the dispute. I really don't understand why they wanted to pin me for the wine so bad. I hope they didn't end up charging my company for it because that is fraudulent and I wouldn't want to support them going forward if this is how they do business.

Always love coming here…read more I've had some pretty great memories from dancing to electric eel in the hot tubs at night to tanning by the pool with nothing but sunshine in sight. I'm in love with the fire pit in the middle of the pool it's my fav part and I'm guessing everyone as well. Only thing that sucks is usually one is out of service on our last trip two were down but we still had 2 open. Rooms are great ! Huge bed with sliding wall beside the bath tub so you can watch the tv from the tub or just have a conversation with someone lol. The double sided fireplace is great really sets the mood. Great kitchen so bring your own food depending how many days you're staying.

La Sapinière has never disappointed us, but is IS a great big drive from Montreal. We've been going…read morethere for years to celebrate special occasions and the menu is always stellar. The portions are on the small side (obviously) but always satisfying. The main dining room is stunning and overlooks a lake, an amazing view to compliment your meal but if you want to be seated by a window, you should reserve way in advance! They have an excellent wine selection and the dishes are lush. They are beginning to incorporate vegetarian options but overall, expect lots of meat and fish. If you can, try the foie gras, they make it really memorable. My mom did find her quails a bit cold but my veal was to die for. For birthdays, you get glasses of Kir on the house! The staff is really lovely and have made the effort to remember us, which is always appreciated. The recession has struck everyone, and it's nice to see that La Sapinière has tried to adapt: they 3 course table d'hôte is a couple dollars short of $40, the 5-course meal being under $60, an absolute steal (as everything used to be over $80 a couple of years back). Thankfully, they haven't sacrificed quality in any way. The decor is cozy and warm, the hotel was built in the 60s and it still has that slightly retro flavour (carpeted floors, big leather chairs, swiss-chalet style). They try to cater to all sorts of clientele, but I'd say this isn't the most kid-friendly hotel. The bar really stylish and right next to a mahogany pool table and an intimate dance floor. If you feel extra fancy, you can rent you own little bungalow outside the hotel! I would recommend going in winter, I think it's during that time that the Laurentians really shine, the scenery is unbeatable and it makes it the comfort of the place and the food even more worthwhile..

We ended up staying in Montreal later than expected so we checked in here very late in the evening. This is also a contactless place - you receive a text with the code and don't have to deal with anyone. Poured concrete floors, wood accents, comfy bed, and glass showers with chrome metal fixtures made this feel like a lake house that your rent in the summer. Only thing was doors didn't close behind you - could be security issue though this is nowhere near city. Was pretty painless - place was clean, and for the price $139/night, the hour drive was worth it.
