Recently my skin has been breaking out and I felt aging skin starting to creep in so I decided to be proactive to see my options. So I did a bit of research and looked for a clinic that is knowledgeable and skilled in treating Asian complexions and found this K-Beauty clinic backed by a doctor. They are relatively new only about 2 years old it seems but they do seem to have quite a following on social media for Dr. Joo.
I went in with my SO for a skincare consultation for $75 each. A bit steep compared to other clinics, which sometimes provide it for free but they did mention that if we purchase any packages our consultation fee can be applied towards the package. It makes sense to avoid any tire kickers I suppose.
The VISIA machine analysed our skin and indexed our skin for several categories like wrinkles, UV damage, hyper pigmentation etc and also gives an age score compare to people of our same background and age. So it gives an idea which areas could be improved. We were then in a meeting with Dr. Joo and I pointed hyperpigmentation was my concern as well as thinning hair. We discussed about what skincare products I've been using and her recommendations of other products that can be included to compliment my existing skin care routine, all from SkinCeuticals. She also recommended double cleansing, which I don't consistently do when I work from home but apparently it's good to wash out the sunscreen since I do wear sunscreen at home.
I don't see prices listed for her services online. So here are some quotes that I received, please reach out if you have quotes from here or elsewhere and your experience if you've done these treatments before so we can share notes. I wish her pricing is more transparently published online because it gives me some doubt whether pricing offered is consistent for all new clients. I'm taking notes here in case I lose the physical sheet she provided.
Picosure Pro - $800-900 per session (with a doctor there being in the higher end) and probably I'll need 3 sessions for my condition but there's a package for buy 5 get one free and I could share it with my SO since he also has hyperpigmentation concerns. It also comes with a skincare credit I think $300 worth and then later she specified I think it's specifically items from the Prevent and Protect line. So Phloretin CF and Physical Fusion SPF.
She also mentions the doctor can also remove moles and dark spots during the Picosure Pro session too. The results on their site look crazy good so I'm considering this but doing more research first and gathering my questions.
Exo-Grow for hair growth - $650 - $800 per session and she suggested 4-6. Package of 4 is 10% off, 6 is 15% off and 8 is 20% off. Minoxidil was also recommended and the she can also prescribe additional options like retinoids that can't get over the counter.
Medical grade facial is $250 + tax and now there's a promo to get unlimited facials for $875 until the end of the year and it's recommended to get it every 3 weeks at most. So only worthwhile if you take advantage soon but I just got a facial done so I think I'll opt out. Individually it's quite expensive but I suppose if you go for unlimited could be a deal. I still didn't quite understand the difference between medical grade facial vs. facials I get at other clinics by aestheticians. She mentioned it's the type of ingredients they used. However, only estheticians in this clinic perform the facials anyways, not a doctor.
For my SO because he breaks our near is his beard and chin, they recommended laser hair removal for Elite IQ machine $250 a session for upper lip, chin, side of face and underneath chin. 10 sessions would be 30% off.
So far great first impression and experience with Dr. Joo, she was really patient answering all our questions. The front desk, one of the receptionists seems to only communicate in Korean. However, the other is able to communicate in both. They were helpful in getting us set up and provided sunscreen when I asked, since I volunteered to removed all my makeup and sunscreen for a better assessment.
However, possibly due to a language barrier, they didn't seem as friendly, warm, or personable as staff at other clinics I've visited though they weren't rude. I believe this clinic also offers family medicine, so the service felt more like what you'd expect from a front desk at a medical or blood clinic, rather than the more welcoming atmosphere of a spa, massage, or paid specialty clinic. read more
