They do beer cocktails yay. We tried a tequila based sangria style one and a beery take on a Moscow mule. Both were really tasty. They have a huge range of draft and craft beers and do bottles with chaser shots a personal fav was the Aussie bundy rum with my beer! Bar snacks are on to keep you going but not full meals yet, though you could always head up to Steak if you're peckish.

Anyhow the OH persuaded me to give it a shot for a quick drink to shelter from the rain whilst we deliberated on a venue for dinner. I'm glad he did. In addition to a decent selection of craft beers, there's a hefty cocktail menu. I tried the Ginger Tom Collins & it hit the spot. Just the right amount of ginger to pack a punch but not enough to be overpowering. The OH had a pint of draft beer & seemed happy enough. The low ceiling means it gets noisy even if it's not packed. There was a stag do, 2 birthday parties and hen group as well as some other folks. It was only just possible to hold a convo at normal volume & be heard. There's a decent sized courtyard out the back too but it was too wet & cold to try it out. I'd definitely visit again but maybe on a week night when it might be a little less noisy.

Looking above the bar in here you will see numerous awards for pub of the year, which you will probably be miffed about. This bar is not bad but its nothing special either. There is a pool table through the back and karaoke regularly. This pub can be very quiet throughout the week but is packed to the brim at weekends. Going to the toilet if you are female feels a bit odd at first as the ladies loos are upstairs entered by a staircase right across the room (you have to squeeze by the karaoke machine on some nights!). This pub is pretty small and the decor is a bit shabby but the drinks arent expensive and you can see if the clubs are open from the window. Id advise this pub for an older audience and anyone who isnt too fussy.

The furnishings and paintwork leave a lot to be desired and sometimes there are so many people in you cant movehoweverThe Glue Pot is a great pub if you just want to get quite drunk, have a laugh, sing karaoke and then fall over. The regulars are all really welcoming and the atmosphere is always good. It can appear a bit of an old mans pub late afternoon but most weekends it is transdormed into a great pre-club bargive it a shotit might look scary from outside but it is not really!

OK, bear with me... this is a five stars for me personally kinda place to which I'll explain…read moreshortly... everything is relative, right? As everyone in the city does does I've had a fair few late nights out in Newcastle, and while most of my friends prefer Aspers Casino as their after hours port of call that's just not my sorta scene... as luck would have it I happened upon this place once leaving the casino so we thought "what the heck" and popped in for the ever popular "just one more" that we all trick ourselves into having. Now don't get me wrong, this place is practically a dive bar... you won't get amazing cocktails here, but they've got snooker/pool, all the staples of a standard bar, a cheap to use jukebox, and glorious fried food served until 5am... I'm talking about near US style fried goodness, not the almost microwaved version that you often get at Friday's, etc., here in the UK. (I don't even like fried food, but at 3am after drinking all night I'll practically lick the floor for a good jalapeño popper compared to other options at that hour.) The atmosphere is where it wins for me... I've been several times in the wee hours of the morning (aka night before) and it's really laid back... never too over the top or boisterous that time of night, so it's almost like a hidden gem for someone like me who just wants to hang out a bit longer. As with the casino, I don't even play pool, but I always have a better time hanging with friends here... it's just more engaging and I get to play with the jukebox so it's a win / win in my book. Last note, they do some type of membership thing.... after a certain time (midnight maybe?) so you may only be able to get in if you have a card... it's cheap however, and one gets many in, but it's something to be aware of. (Didn't even know about it the first few visits, I think they only really enforce it on a night the crazies try and get in to be honest... along those lines there's a "buzz in" door at the top of the stairs, I can only imagine how handy that comes in at the right time.) If the above doesn't sound appealing then it certainly won't be five stars for you... it may be the exact opposite to be honest, but for me it was an amazing late night escape in the glorious madness that is Newcastle. If you're even slightly intrigued I would give it a go, it couldn't hurt, and our initial drop in from curiosity was enough to keep us coming back.

There is nowhere I have ever been in the UK like this. Phenomenal atmosphere, friendly staff, and…read moretons of fun. Definitely my favorite hang out spot in Newcastle. Never disappoints.

It is a hotel and the reception is inside the pub so it is open all day which is unusual for many of the village pubs in this area. They serve food from noon till 3pm and 6pm till 9pm but we didn't dine so I can't comment on the quality of the food. There were three or four local beers on including Secret Kingdom and Coast to Coast from Hadrian's Border Brewery as well as the usual lagers etc. There is a pool table, and we enjoy a game, but on each occasion that we were in it was totally monopolised by the landlord and staff. I'm sure we could have put our 50p on the table but I don't think we'd have been too popular! :-) The pub is dog friendly and has a beer garden to the rear which would be a nice place to while away an hour on a sunny day. Reasonable little pub really, I'd have given it four stars if we'd been able to play pool! :-)
