Check in was super easy and they gave our driver a 10 minute tutorial on how to operate the boat. Even though our driver has a boating license, they will issue you a temporary license and give you all you need to know to be safe out on the water! I was especially impressed because due to an incident with another group, we started our rental 15 minutes late, and they let us keep the boat for 15 min past our reservation to make up for time lost! For a 6 hour rental (1:30-7:30 PM), the cost was about $507. So split between 7 people, it only cost about $72. So worth it for 6 hours of free exploration time! They told us about a popular sand bar on the map that we checked out first and it was boat city! So many people out enjoying the redneck yacht club--so fun! After, we docked at Fish Tales for lunch. Then we had about 2 hours left, so we went swimming bayside (before getting stung by jellyfish...) and then rounded out the day docking at Seacrets. The pontoons comfortably fit 7 people, and would easily fit 1-3 more! We also had a giant Yeti cooler that fit with plenty of room to spare on the floor. They also come with pretty loud built-in speakers that connect to the radio and Bluetooth so you can DJ from a phone! You can also drop the back ladder for easy access if you decide to go swimming. Overall, the pontoon rental was a highlight of our weekend and we would love to do it again next time! Thanks Bayside Boat Rentals for an awesome first experience.

Our group of jet skiiers included everyone from parent/child combos to adult couples and even expert jet skiiers. My wife and young daughter went on the banana boat experience since my daughter isn't old enough for jet skiing. They had a blast getting a ton of ocean spray in their face while being towed behind a motor boat (make sure to wear goggles). My son and I shared a jet ski and I was really impressed. They are certainly powerful (we got up to 60 km/hour), but have some impressive built-in safety features. There is an auto-break that applies whenever you approach the jet skiing boundaries or get too close to another jet ski or other boat. As a novice, I really appreciated that feature. The staff was uniformly friendly. The location is nice, located next to a public beach that we relaxed in afterwards, as well as a couple of bars (note you can't drink before jet skiing). There isn't a ton of parking, so factor that in as needed.

We had a poor experience when renting a pontoon boat for our stay in the area this week. We had reserved it 5 days prior with a tube via the phone as that is the only way to reserve a pontoon "with a tube" per their website instructions. Upon our prompt check in , we were told then (no call ahead at all) they did not have a tube for us. When I asked why, I was rudely told by the woman behind the desk "we never guarantee tubes as things happen like they pop so we can't promise it". I told her no one told me that at the time of booking when I was charged for it (mind you) and my children and their friends were looking forward to it. She gave me a snide laugh and turned away from me... no apology no nothing. She said "you can drive the boat back in 90 minutes and get one that's the best we can do." I asked to be comp'd something and she said "no it's a flat fee you will still be charged!!!" Honestly, an apology and perhaps a small compensation back for the tube rental was all I was looking for.... But to get a laugh in my face and to turn away from me, completely unacceptable. I was never rude to her and yet she was to me.... Beyond ridiculous and such absolute poor customer service we were all SHOCKED! I guess they get enough business they don't care about their customers' satisfaction. In the past, we had used them for the last 3 years for waver runners and all was fine. I can say based on this experience we will NOT be returning customers. There is a place literally across the street from them that does the same kind of rentals. Beware fellow vacationers..... not a good place to rent a boat from. They take your reservation and your $$ but don't hold onto their side of the bargain. While they may get a ton of business and not care about their clients' satisfaction, there are SO many other places to rent from so they better change their attitude or at least get better front desk staff! The rest of the staff was not rude like the front desk lady but she did enough damage that it ruined the rest of our time and feelings about this business establishment. Very Disappointed Yelper.....

1 Star - Absolutely Awful Experience…read more Island Water Sports gave us one of the worst customer service experiences we've ever had. As we were pulling into the dock -- after being stuck in torrential downpours all day because they refused to offer a rain check unless there was thunder -- a staff member started shouting at us, "I hope you have insurance! You've damaged my ladder!" The swim ladder had accidentally been left down, but it was already damaged when we took the boat out. Even after staff inside the office confirmed the damage had been noted earlier, the dockhand, Mike, continued to accuse us and treated us like we had done something wrong. They made us stay in the boat while they took pictures and called it in to the office, repeatedly telling us we were going to have to pay for it. When we were finally allowed off, some of our group went to use the bathroom and were stopped on their way back by another employee, who told them they "weren't allowed to leave." It felt like we were being detained -- over a broken ladder we didn't even damage. At one point I told Mike how rude and unprofessional he was -- and no, I wasn't calm about it. I had every right to speak up after the way we were being treated. Instead of diffusing the situation, he came back at me, even more defensive and condescending. It wasn't until after they embarrassed us and treated us like criminals in front of other guests that we finally got a weak apology. Then, as if that wasn't enough, they actually complained that there was mud on the floorboard from the anchor -- because it had touched the wet deck. First of all, don't they wash the boats down anyway? And second, it was pouring rain all day -- what exactly did they expect? We didn't even complain about the miserable weather -- we paid in full and left without so much as a "Sorry the weather didn't cooperate" or "Hope you still had a good time." Just attitude and accusations. We've rented from other marinas in the area and always had a great experience. Island Water Sports was by far the worst -- rude, accusatory, and completely lacking in basic customer service. I would never rent from them again and absolutely do not recommend them to anyone!

Staff was friendly and courteous when we arrived, and the boat was in tip-top shape. The one-star knock is because they did not have a restroom available for us before our trip, which meant we had to leave the premises for a Royal Farms, then return. Granted we didn't lose a lot of time, but a restroom for clients, even if it's a porta potty, I feel is a necessity.
