Had to wait over two hours past my scheduled appointment, with zero communication. The owner herself when I walked in after confirming my appointment prior was running in 90 minutes late, unapologetic and aloof. No text. No call. No explanation. NO APOLOGY. Just an appalling lack of basic decency. And let's be clear: this isn't a one-time slip-up. This salon, and Tina have a well-known pattern of disrespecting clients, ghosting appointments, and prioritizing "celebrity" clientele while treating everyday paying customers like they're disposable. It's insulting. It's exploitative. And it's completely unethical. The owner's (again Christina/ "Tina"') behavior is not just flaky--it's arrogant, entitled, and unfit for any professional space. The juice isn't worth the squeeze- OR your time. Tina (the owner) is a good braider but notoriously late and extremely unpredictable and unprofessional. I literally never knew if I'd wait for an hour or 2 which was normal. I blame myself for letting my time be so disrespected by her. Today was the last straw. Since she is always late, I texted her an hour before my appt and just asked for her to keep me posted so when she's ACTUALLY ready for me, I can leave then and not be sitting around in the salon twiddling my thumbs. After I sent my text message at 1pm, I got no response so I arrived on time at 2pm. As soon as I walked in the door and smiled and said hello, she acknowledged that she should have texted me and she needed me to come back at 330pm because she was running late. I wasn't happy to hear that, but okay fine. I was hungry so I went and had lunch at Stout Burger. I return at 330pm to see her outside with her client that she's supposed to be "finishing up" on smoking a cigarette. She doesn't acknowledge me at all as I walk past her so I proceeded to go back in the salon and sit down. (I actually thought she'd finished up and was waiting on me). NOPE! She and the client come back in at 3:35pm and go back to her chair and she works on her hair until 515pm. I sat there furious the entire time, waiting for her to say something, acknowledge me, ANYTHING! And crickets... nothing. So finally I just walked out and went home. I paid for a sitter that was worthless now and who I had to relieve in 3 hours, I paid the meter for parking and I know she wouldn't have had enough time to finish my hair. I have an event tomorrow evening that now I can't attend. She ruined my whole weekend. Finally, around 5:30 she has the nerve, to text me - hey hey I'm ready for you now. Whaaaat?!? . My original appt was at 2pm and you send me this tone deaf message at 530pm. I would never treat people like this, especially paying customers. This was it. I'm done with her. It's sad because I really make an intentional effort to support black businesses and when you get disrespected in the process, it really is offensive on a whole other level. I have never encountered such unprofessionalism from a "curly and natural hair" expert. I went to Rehab Salon back in 2022 in hopes of finding a curly hair specialist to help me improve my curls, add more volume in my hair, and find ways to improve my hair's health as a whole. However, thanks to Shun, my stylist, MY HAIR WAS RUINED. I posted a review on Yelp years ago but decided to repost my story because I can. For $90, Shun made my hair look oily and as if I had brushed it out harshly, and it was so dry, I wanted to cry. Shun stated that she "tried" everything to revive my hair but that, and I quote, "You don't have curly hair: you have straight, fine, caucasian hair. I washed your hair and it was straight when it got wet, and curly hair doesn't straighten in water. Despite the treatments, this is the best I can do unless you want me to cut it shorter." I knew this is a lie because when I wash my hair, my hair is wavy in the shower and curl when drying even when I do not diffuse. Her logic made no sense and she didn't diffuse my hair, or do anything asides from ruin it so badly that my split ends worsened. Also, it's her saying that my curls were getting "bigger" first, and then contradicting herself saying that I don't have curly hair. I kept telling her that I do have curly hair and showed her pictures of my hair again, but she literally kept insisting that I have "white, caucasian, straight, fine hair," She asked one more time if I was in favor of her cutting my hair to "make it curlier," but I instantly refused and said no. I was so heartbroken by her rude, insensitive and dismissive comments trying to gaslight me into thinking something that is not true. I called her manager to report what happened and while she claims Shun was "sorry", apparently there was a "miscommunication issue" because "I wasn't speaking up about what I wanted," when I did so multiple times. I told her everything and how no matter how many times I tried to communicate with her, she kept insisting my hair is "fine, caucasian, and straight", which comes off as very racist and hurtful to me. The manager said, "At least you got your refund, so," but I was so heartbroken and traumatized from the whole experience that I was scared to go to any hair salon for curly hair guidance, for months. P.S: If you're reading this Shun: Anybody of any ethnicity or race, can have curly hair. Fine to thick curly hair, wavy-curly to kinky curly hair, every curl is beautiful in their own special and unique way. So please, go educate yourself on how to really cut and care for curly hair properly starting with your own. read more

In the past, I have given this salon major kudos due to ONE hairstylist in particular who is no longer there. Jodi was amazing with the scissors and fantastic with color and the ONLY reason I came to Rehab Salon in the first place. When Jodi left I had no way of reaching her and one else to go to so I settled for Camille. She was not amazing but ok with color. When Camille left, I then turned to Tina because she is a very good stylist and has been there for quite a while. Now, Tina may be a good hairstylist (and basically a nice person) but I quickly found out that she has no business doing hair color. Here is my journey... I have very curly, slightly kinky, multiracial hair that is on the fine side. I came in with platinum blonde hair that was in pretty good condition. I thoroughly explained that I wanted a light warm caramel color right between the darkest blonde and the lightest brown and even brought in several pictures so we would be on the same page as to the exact color I was looking for. Instead of just doing as I requested, Tina dyed it DARK EGGPLANT...NOWHERE EVEN CLOSE to the color I had taken such great lengths to describe to her!! I was also surprised that, instead of owning up to her horrendous mistake, she stood there and aggressively argued with me! First, she insisted eggplant and "caramel" were the same color. (Was she confused or just color blind)??? When I asked the owner to join the conversation she completely agreed with me. That was when Tina then changed her story and told me this color just "looked darker to me" because I was so used to seeing myself with such light blonde hair. Really? She had just destroyed my hair, I didn't need her to insult my intelligence as well! Complaining to the owner was pointless. Although she did agree that my hair was not color I requested, she did nothing but tell Tina to "fix" it. Nothing more. Tina then proceeded to strip my hair down several layers until it was Tabby-cat-orange, the texture of thin Brillo and several inches shorter (as a result of hair loss from all the many layers of bleach she used to strip the dark color). By the time I was done, it looked like Freddie Kruger had raked his fingers through my hair (and I have the photo to prove it)! This salon has always had pretty low standards in the way of professionalism, so I turned a blind eye to stylists either arriving late to appointments or still working on another client at the time of my appointment, causing me to wait up to an hour, or canceling appointments on me at the last minute. I have put up with having to run out and feed the meter in a cape several times during an appointment because they offer no parking accommodations. I have put up with Rehab Salon's unprofessional attitude for years (and yes, that is on me), but when Tina over processed my hair, to the point of turning it the color of a Halloween jack-o'-lantern, thinning it to death, which resulted in it becoming several inches shorter....That was the final straw! (oh, did I mention I arrived at 11am, and waited an hour for Tina to get to me before she proceeded to torment my hair until 6:30pm)??? Thank God I was fortunate enough to get a recommendation for someone who was not only able to immediately take me that very evening, but knowledgeable enough to get my hair color to the beautiful, natural caramel color I originally wanted, and back to the point of being touchable again. (Unfortunately, he was not a magician and couldn't regrow the hair that was lost). As a member of the Yelp society, I heavily depend on thorough, honest reviews. I feel it is my duty to warn people when I have a bad experience such as the ghastly one I had with this poorly run establishment. This salon may have a good overall rating but a word of advice...pay attention to the reviews that are 3 stars and under. I must say, this was the worst haircut I have ever gotten. Period. I rarely ever write negative reviews because I always want to give businesses, and people, the benefit of the doubt. But after a few days of looking at myself and being utterly upset, I decided I didn't want anyone else to suffer this same fate. I walked in this past Friday evening and was greeted by Tina, the stylist who ultimately botched my hair. I gave her a picture of the style I wanted (see the photo below of me smiling!) and I told her that I just wanted it a little shorter than before but I wanted the same style. She obliged. Throughout the session she was heavily distracted with some personal matter on the phone. She frequently stopped to text and call and it made me a bit weary of her handling my hair but, nonetheless, I trusted her. This was, after all, a Black establishment adorned with beautiful Black art, the atmosphere punctuated by Afro beats. I thought to myself, there's no way I could leave here unhappy! I'm in good hands. I couldn't have been more wrong. She began by cutting my hair with clippers and asking me strange questions like "do you want me to cut half or just trim??" and proceeded to talk me into believing I should get it way shorter so that it's easier it manage. Usually my stylist don't ask me binary questions like this, they just ask me what length I want to keep and give me options. But she seemed bent on having me cut it shorter. Anyway, I foolishly obliged. So, as she was shaping my hair I couldn't see what was happening because I was turned away from the mirror. It wasn't until the end where I realized she shaped my hair to make me look like a cone-head. She kept the top long, which was not what I wanted and the the finger curls she gave me looked like worms growing from the top of my head. And she cut it way way shorter than what I wanted. And she kept telling me it was "fine" that it was short, instead of listening to me or reading my concerns. I don't care that you think/thought it was fine. Your opinion means nothing when I leave cause it's my face that has to wear this head. And this whole thing cost me more than $100. Anyway. She's on time, has helped my hair stay conditioned and growing. Whether I'm wearing straight styles, kinky-curls, braids, color. She's experienced, I follow her advice for at home, and my hair is healthy. It's a pleasure to see the work she and her business partners do with others. (The people who come for locs are gorrrrgeous.) I refer people to Rehab regularly. Grounded, really nice people, professional. I had been looking for a salon that had staff experienced with natural hair to get a trim/deep condition. I did a search to find a local salon and Rehab came up. I saw the site and read reviews and it seemed like a good solid salon for a trim. I tried to get in twice both on Saturdays at the last minute (un)surprisingly the first time they didn't have a slot but got lucky the next week when Camille was able to take me for a quick appointment. I was very happy with my experience. One hour for a shampoo/trim/deep conditioner is unheard of at a 'Black' salon. Camille was friendly and asked questions about my hair and long term goals. Before she started the trim she showed me the amount she'd be taking and got my approval. Since I am growing my hair out I asked for a trim and shape that would be cute. She recommended products for my dry hair and frustration in not finding a leave in conditioner I liked (no heavy selling to buy from the store). She's quite knowledgeable and easy to talk with about 'hair goals' and style aspiration. I strongly recommend her for anyone with natural hair. read more

TLDR; a stylist completely botched my color causing spotted hair and permanent processed damage to my ends and they only offered me a small partial refund. Do not go there for color. The photos speak for themselves. As a couple of people have written I found this salon online/IG and I was excited to find a good black hair salon in LA, I also do not take the time to write reviews unless I feel extremely wronged, as was with this experience. I had to push back my appointment due to work, so when I rescheduled I was told I could see a different stylist, who was just as great as the owner Christina at color. I was the first appointment of the day and no one was there at 9AM, nor gave me a heads up they were late- I genuinely thought the shop must be closed and I got the wrong day. She showed up around 9:15 and after she explained traffic made her late I said no worries, but I also had work that day. Of course I would never imply to rush my hair so much that it was botched/damaged. I only wanted a few simple money pieces of light-ish blonde around my face because I already had color in my hair. She went with balayage and as soon as she washed out the color it was a brassy orange (not blonde or close). She said the toner would fix it and I trusted her. After blowing it out not only was the color still incredibly orange but it was blotchy, like spotted cheetah print/feathers from 2011 blotchy. She didn't point this out to me, she let me discover it in the mirror, said it was because she didn't know I had a middle part/because I had curly hair and I could come back to have it fixed, but I was going out of town that night. When I got home I saw the extent of the damage (which surely she saw when blow drying) - the splotchiness was everywhere, the balayge went way to far up to the root looking like awkward blunt highlights and my ends were beyond bleached to white/platinum (when she started blowing it out I said "oh my god are these grey hairs??" it was so white). The salon though cute isn't very organized when it comes to managing their phones so I had to speak to multiple people when dealing with this issue who gave me different information, and though Christina got back to me there was lots of back and forth just for me to get a $65 refund for about $170 total when they list color as $75 minimum on their website. Overall, despite offering me a free service (who goes back to a new salon who botched their hair for more treatment? And a stylist I trust told me no more heat on my hair because my ends are severely damaged and need to be cut asap so I asked what non heat or chemical services they even offer and was never told), I was very disappointed with how they handled this. We all have that fear of going to a new place. The fear that you won't be treated right, that you'll have to wait a long time, and mostly, that if you go for a trim you'll leave bald. This place will give you the full trifecta of awful. When I arrived at the time of my appointment, there were two other people ahead of me. Someone was getting their hair braided and the other person was under the dryer. Sigh. After waiting at least 30mins just to sit in a chair, I decided I wanted to leave. I was told that they were just about to call me up. I should have listened to my intuition. The lady who was to cut my hair, was so upset that I wanted to leave that I guess she decided to take it out on me. Very rude from the beginning. As soon as I sat in her chair she proceeded to tell me how dry my hair was. How it didn't have a curl because of me. How I didn't take care of it. How I had no "patience". "Whatever you are doing...it aint working." is what she declared with an attitude. When I tried to talk to her about my hair there were other people there who I guess were her friends so she was barely listening. Everyone was loud and she paid no attention to me. Anything I asked her, she responded with a short response. Clearly it was passive aggression from me wanting to leave earlier. It was very embarrassing and rude. Everyone was staring at me and I felt very uncomfortable. All I wanted was a trim. Not a lecture. She did trim my hair and got off all the dead ends BUT it's unevenly distributed. Some parts are long...others are short. I look crazy. I left the salon and cried outside. Cried in my uber. Cried at work. Everything that I ever feared from a salon experience came true at this place. If you do come here my advice is to NOT get on anyones bad side. Don't EVER question anything. I hate to write a negative review, but I really had a bad experience here. I was excited to find a salon that specialized in "natural hair" and appeared to be knowledgeable about working with natural, curly, kinky hair. I was clear when I made the appointment that I was looking for their best, most experienced natural hair stylist. When I arrived, I was directed to T-Star and one look at her poorly styled, unflattering blonde braids should have had me heading for the door but I tried to reserve judgement and hear what she had to say. I described in great detail and provided multiple pictures of how I wanted my hair cut and she professed to understand what I wanted and assured me she could deliver. She most definitely did not! Her inexperience with hair like mine became apparent with the first few snips of the scissors. She deliberately kept me from facing the mirror so I was left to discover the wreckage my hair was becoming with my hands. The cute tapered look I was hoping for was not to be had. What I ended up with was a sloppily executed look that might have been trendy 15 years ago on a teen-aged rapper. T-Star was well aware that she had butchered the job and had no idea how to even style my hair. When Tina, the salon owner, tried to help by giving her advice on how to work with my hair texture, she still couldn't figure it out. She actually tried to reassure me by saying "it will grow back fast". Tina continued to try to give helpful advice, but, in the end, I ended up styling my own hair. I was able to make it look decent before walking out the door and, although the experience with T-Star was a disaster, I was somewhat impressed with Tina's knowledge of natural hair. I asked her if she did color and she assured me she did. I told her I'd call to make an appointment next week, hoping she could do the color and try to repair T-Star's sloppy work. True to my word, I called and spoke briefly with Tina the following week. I reminded her of who I was and she said she was busy but would call me back either that night or the following morning. I never heard from her and have nothing but a terrible impression of this salon and a butchered hair cut to show for my experience. These people are unprofessional and the stylist I saw lacked any semblance of talent or style. read more

Scheduling was the the problem at Rehab. After making an appointment, two weeks in advance, over the phone with Christina, I arrive (30 minutes early, only to be told I was there on the wrong day! After explaining to the busy stylist this was my appointment time, did she finally check her book. What do you know folks, Christina was wrong, she did book me for that day and time. She unapologetically told me she would be leaving in 30 minutes to go do studio work, and didn't know what I was going to do! A little history, I discovered this wonderful salon through a natural hair group. I also attended the a hair demonstration given at the Salon.. Hence my introduction to the Rock Star stylist, Christina. Or so I thought. Now mind you, no one likes their time wasted! No one. Disturbed by my encounter with Christina. The busy stylist asked Aklia, the only soul there, to do my hair. Aklia agreed. Those I was told her styling experience was limited, by the busy stylist. Akila saved the day! She did an great job with my natural hair. Her patience, positive attitude and great energy saved Rehab from a one star review. I tipped her and bought some soaps as well. All things considered, my experience has taught me this.. Tip 1: If you stylist, leaves you hanging. Don't give them your business. Tip 2: If I return to Rehab, call before my appointment time to insure that my stylist hasn't rudely kicked me to the curb, for More money elsewhere. All other aspects of the salon are pleasant. I came in on a Saturday and I showed Camille a picture of what I wanted; blonde highlights. It looked fine when I left but when I left, my hair dried it was GREEN. I went back to the salon and she left so some of the other ladies in there treated my hair with the purple shampoo and conditioner to take the green out. I guess it happens but she should have noticed before I left the color underneath was GREEN and my highlights weren't blonde they were yellow; over all this ended up being a 5 hour ordeal! Finally after getting in touch with her she agreed to fix it so I came the next day. Not trusting her and worried about continuing to damage my curls I asked for a toner to make them more caramel which she did. It doesn't look bad but I ended up paying $150, left a $25 tip for something that left me underwhelmed and isn't even what I wanted. She ended up giving me $10 back. read more

I've been holding on to these straight/colored pieces throughout my hair for years and I finally had the courage to get my hair shaped. I wasn't just looking for a trim, I was looking for life for my limp locks. Tine managed to pull this off in a speedy and affordable manner. She examined my hair and cut off all the straight ends I had and shaped it in a versatile heart shape. Now my hair is more manageable curly, thicker, and super soft. All this because of an experienced shape up! So all my curly girls, natural sistahs and hair fiends, I implore you to check out ReHab! You wont be disappointed! Trust me I am VERY picky about my hair and who cuts it and I felt 100% safe with Tina. Tina is absolutely incredible! I booked an appointment with Tina about 2 weeks in advance. I was travelling from out of town to Los Angeles to be a bridesmaid in a wedding and needed to find someone who could help me with an updo for my natural hair. Tina was very responsive and called me right back. She assured me that she could do an updo for natural hair. She even asked me what color my hair was so that she could have extensions on hand if we wanted to add them in. To be honest, I was quite nervous about having my hair done by someone I didn't know because I wanted to look nice for the wedding. But all my nervousness went away as soon as I sat in her chair. Tina was extremely friendly, professional, and full of personality. She looked at photos of how I wanted my hair done, and she went through the entire process of what she planned to do. I felt very much at ease. While washing my hair, she even gave me tips and suggestions on caring for my natural hair. She is extremely knowledgeable! After an hour or so, she handed me the mirror and I was amazed! She had done a style exactly like the photo; honestly, it was even better! She charges a very reasonable rate for such an incredible job. I could tell how passionate she is about hair based on how much education she was giving me and how much fun she seemed to be having. She is not only a stylist, but an artist. She did have two other clients there at the same time, but she was very efficient and worked me in and out in about 2 hours. The salon itself was very comfortable, clean, and all staff were professional and friendly. I had so many compliments on my hair at the wedding and from complete strangers! I LOVE THIS SPOT!! It's an amazingly cute, very comfortable environment with a great vibe. Everyone working there was super friendly and the woman who braided my weave in, Cynek, was amazing. It was the first place I've been where my scalp wasn't throbbing when I left and the braids themselves are small and barely noticeable. I've got white girl hair and this was a jewel of a find without having to go to the 'hood and without having to pay a fortune. They are very reasonably priced and I'm so glad I found them...I'll be back for sure and would recommend them to anyone!! read more

Today was my first time visit to REHAB salon where Anthony Cuevas (my new stylist!!) made me feel quite at home from the minute I walked in. I am very particular with the way I like my hair styled and highlighted and usually am very timid about seeing someone new! Anthony was very professional, personable and made me look great!!! The other staff at this salon, were also extremely friendly. Aklia, Tina, and Jody. The environment was very relaxing and laid back. There was music, conversation, and laughter the entire time I was there. The salon also connected to Aklia's retail space that has various items from all over the world that you would never find anywhere else. I cant wait for my next visit!! I have come to this salon for most of the year and as much as Tina is good with hair she is terrible with communicating with clients. Had an appointment at 9:30 am, made the appointment 2 weeks in advance get there and she is nowone to be found. I call the salon no answer finally had to call the emergency number were I talked to the co owner who then had to reach out and get a hold of her. Tina finally gets back to me only to let me know she is gonna be an hour late. I waited for over and hour and still no one. Don't make appointments with them they are terrible at keeping them and Tina has no idea how to run a business. I will never return to this salon again. read more

Waste of time, can't keep track of their appointments. I had an appointment for Friday at 6pm. It wasn't the best time slot for me but the person I spoke said they would give me a call if something opened up. No one ever called, but fine, they are busy and probably forgot, I get it. So I started calling every day over a week before my appointment to see if any times on Friday were available. Every time I called I would say "Hi, my name is Sierra, I have an appointment on Friday at 6pm but was wondering if any earlier time slots were open?" and every single time the person I spoke to confirmed they had me on the books but no other times were open. The day of the appointment I called in to see if there were any last minute cancellations and all I got was a busy signal. It was weird, so I called probably 6 more times throughout the day hoping to catch them so I could check the schedule. No one ever answered, only got a busy signal. I drive up there for my appointment (not close to me at all) and when I walk in the woman there says my appointment is on Saturday not Friday. I said that's impossible because of how many times I've already called about my appointment and they've always confirmed that it's Friday. The woman insisted that no one books for her but herself and said that she and I had emailed and texted about it. At no point did I email or text anyone, I don't even have her phone number, I only have the number to the shop. I spoke to multiple different people there, including a guy, who all confirmed my Friday appointment. She said that was impossible because she was booked weeks out but I called and made that appointment almost 2 weeks in advance. I'm not sure what's going on here, but clearly they do not have any communication between the staff members and there's no unified calendar. Also someone left the phone off the hook all day, that's why I couldn't call in on the day of. Huge waste of my time, gas, and paying for parking. read more

I have gone to REHAB on two occasions, always for simple services: - Wash and go - Moisturizing treatment The lady who took care of me both times was kind, friendly and did a great job with my hair. I've had my natural hair for over 10 years and struggled to find a good natural hair salon in LA. I wear my hair as it is (i.e. no extensions, no texturizer, no weave, etc.), as an afro. My stylist takes the time to detangle it properly and apply moisturizer strand by strand. By the time I leave the salon, my hair looks great (and so much better than when I do it at home)!! My curls are defined and my hair doesn't feel weighed down by the product. They have a variety of products available. My stylist used Cantu moisturizing leave-in products which work great on my hair. They always charge me less than $50 for the wash and go and moisturizing treatment, which is much cheaper than natural hair salons I went to in Montreal, for better service. A nice extra: the smell of incense and the great music (old school hip-hop, R&B, neo-soul). read more

Tina Trimmell did two-stranded twists with a half circle of flat twists on my right side. She also did a permanent color job on two to three rows of my hair since I wanted to play with color. Overall, I was pleased with my experience. I appreciated how fast she was--everything was done within 3 hrs. I liked that she was flexible to what time and date that I needed her services. The twists were a bit pricey compared to what I've paid in the past, but considering her salon location and experience and skill working with natural hair, I can understand it. The things I wasn't too happy with were 1) hair moisturizer that she chose to use while twisting my hair, and 2) how much hair she cut. I prefer natural products. The creme she used dried sticky and I felt like washing my hair, but that would have messed up the style. Instead, I opted to scrape some of it off in the morning using a liquid leave-in. I will most likely bring my own products in next time. She cut my hair instead of trimming, and therefore I lost a lot of length, but then again she got rid of a lot of damaged hair that I'm still slowly growing out so I can also understand why she cut so much. I'm just not a fan of cuts, I am comfortable with trims. Tina gets 5 stars for the fact that it's hard finding people in L.A. that are comfortable working with tightly coiled (or "highly textured") hair, period. read more

Loved AKLIA"S as I walked to the rear of the shop and came into REHAB. Beautifully designed. Its homey/warm and Iike the design of the shop. My hair was cut with precision by TINA. I spoken to her and she understood what I was going for. Even over the phone she exuded confidence on what I was looking for and you can hear the excitement in her voice as a stylist. My hair is natural and it was a lot to cut and shape..(it had grown out and I needed to find someone to tame it). The wash/conditon and cut was all awesome. She gave me a flattering cut and she also recommended to bring products that I use. I found that to be very accomodating because most salons only want to use their products. I walked out feeling like a new person..with a great cut and the price was very affordable.!! I will be going back and I will refer someone to them as well. Thanks Tina .. In addition to her natural God given skill, she has always treated me in a professional manner and, at the same time, promoting an environment of friendly & social interaction.
