My family was so lucky to have found Pat's Serenity Home Care!…read more My 85 year old mom had dementia, was falling down a lot, and became too much for my dad to handle. We first met Pat and Michael on their wedding anniversary and they canceled their plans to take my mom in their lovely home the same day. They provided snacks and healthy home cooked meals, activities to help keep my mom and other residents engaged, and top notch care around the clock. Pat & Michael rented a van over Christmas and took my mom out to see the pretty lights. They celebrated her birthday with flowers, presents and decorated their house. During a hurricane warning, they invited my dad to come stay with them. My family and I were always welcome to visit and stay however long we wanted. They regularly sent us pictures and texts to let us know how my mom was doing, which was really sweet. Being in a private, loving home is so much more welcoming than a sterile facility. Towards the end of my moms life, Pat was feeding my mom every meal and trying to keep her as comfortable as possible. They treated my mom and family with kindness and respect, and we are forever grateful. I can't say enough great things about Pat's Serenity Home Care. I highly recommend the family as they take excellent care of your loved ones!

When She fell for second time there, I was asked if I was going to come pick her up and take her to hospital. I insisted that they call ambulance and bring her to hospital even when they said they put her back in bed and she wasn't complaining of hurting anymore. After she arrived via ambulance it was found her door was locked to keep other patients out of her room and she had fallen sometime that night to 10am when she was checked on. Her hip was broken and she had a brain bleed. I lost her less than two weeks later. Often I would be the one cleaning her room, bringing her food for her that she liked, and showering her. I did her laundry because the other residents laundry was washed with hers. I had started looking another facility but it was too late. The staff there were doing the best they could but often only one person was working by themselves with what help from staff in the assisted living facility next door could give. The fire alarm and doors were not functioning properly from November 2023 and still were not compliant when she left there in April 2024 after her fall. They had 4 star reviews.

Vista Lake Assisted Living:…read more (almost entirely 100% dependent care, memory impaired residents), has very inexperienced cooks, that cannot cook food because they never have been trained on how to cook food. Examples: (1) Spaghetti is no sauce and no spices because the cook does not know spaghetti comes with sauce and spices. (2) Toasted cheese sandwich, (often having burnt bread), may have a light sprinkle of crushed cheese, shaken out of a bottle, instead of having a slice of cheese because the cook does not know you never serve burned food, and that you put a slice of cheese in the toasted bread. A 12 year old child could cook much better food. Food is often burned, often served late, and often served real tough to eat because it is not correctly prepared and cooked for seniors. Sometimes the food is served as hot spicy as Thai food. The food has evolved into being the cheapest food to possibly make to save money. Often the same food is repeated through the week. Salads and soups were ended to save even more money. Some of the nurses and aides may not be nice to the residents because they are not trained on how to work with seriously demented seniors, which is almost everyone living there. Management is poor because resident complaints to the management are not solved. The so called activities person is often gone. The main activities are chair exercises and bingo, something simple, (very inexpensive to do). There are no bus trips. The rooms are small but they are very nice. There is no staff trained emergency call button system in place. You can pull the cord in your room but rarely is it answered. This place is run as inexpensive as possible for the maximum profit for the owners. Do not ever expect Vista Lake Assisted Living to ever follow C.D.C. guidelines of any infectious airborne disease. Since March 2020, since SARS 2, and variants, this place is almost entirely no masks worn over the mouth and nose by almost all residents and staff, with poor hand washing.

The entire operation and everyone involved has been professional and focused on providing the best care possible. Dad experienced some medical problems (completely unrelated to the care provided by Visiting Angels) after a year into the VAO care program which resulted in changes to his living arrangements. VAO was understanding, cooperative, flexible, helpful and supportive in making adjustments to Dad's care program. It has now been nearly 18-months since VAO began providing services. We have never had a problem with billings, services, care-givers, or compliance with the scope of services provided by VAO and the outstanding staff. Dad has been cared for by one person for the overwhelming majority of time - but there has been a limited number of days when other caregivers were required to fill-in (due to illness, doctor visits, family emergencies, etc) for Dad's primary caregiver. The "substitute" caregivers were each well informed of Dad's condition/personality before arriving and each provided good, friendly, quality support that was welcomed by Dad. If you're ever in need of a reliable home health care service to provide care, companionship, light housekeeping services, assisting with meal preparation and clean-up, personal hygiene and grooming support, and a compassionate friend to help care for a loved one, I would certainly strongly recommend VAO. Reach out to Elizabeth or Kandice and find out how VAO can work with you in developing a program that works best for your loved ones needs and interests: the costs for care are very reasonable given the quality and reliability of services.

This review reflects our direct experience while my mother and father were residents at Village…read moreVeranda at Lady Lake, and it is written with urgency in the hope that this situation is taken seriously and resolved appropriately. After my parents moved out, we discovered that multiple personal items were missing, including cash, checks, a wallet, a gold ladies Rolex watch, and a gold and diamond pendant -- items that were unquestionably in their possession prior to entering the facility. Many of these pieces carried deep sentimental value, including jewelry gifted during a 63-year marriage. When our family reviewed bank statements dating back to October 2025, we identified numerous transactions that neither parent authorized. We immediately contacted the bank's fraud department. After investigation, the bank informed us that the fraudulent activity was linked to an employee of the facility. The unauthorized charges included multiple T-Mobile transactions for bills and equipment, PayPal charges, a Capital One payment, and a rent payment to Omni + Brook Rental Management Co. Families place immense trust in assisted living facilities -- not only to provide care, but to protect vulnerable residents and their property. Our parents, like many residents, were elderly and experiencing memory challenges. Discovering financial exploitation under these circumstances has been devastating to our family. Since this ordeal began, our father has passed away, compounding the emotional toll and making the loss of irreplaceable sentimental items even more painful. We entrusted this facility with our parents' care believing proper employee screening and safeguards were in place. Had we known of any prior concerns that could impact resident safety, our decisions would have been very different. This situation raises serious questions about hiring practices, oversight, and accountability. We are seeking a clear response from Village Veranda regarding how they intend to make this right and what steps are being taken to prevent this from happening to other families. We will pursue every appropriate avenue to obtain justice and restitution, but ultimately facilities bear responsibility for the people they employ and the protection of the residents entrusted to them. We strongly urge prospective families to safeguard valuables, closely monitor finances, and ask detailed questions about employee screening and internal protections when evaluating care facilities.

In my experience, the food is good. Medication administration could use some efficiency re-design. Housekeeping is good. Activities are great. Some people elect to participate while others do not. But, it is here if you want it. The only time you don't get laundry done is if you choose to do it yourself or send it out. I get my laundry done , my apartment cleaned and linen changed weekly. I manage my own prescriptions via my own pharmacy. The new corporate management is in place and I am seeing new hires in all departments. I am sure there was a hiring freeze curing the change over. While I still struggle with the need for assistive living, the services I need are here and I am thankful.

There are 1200 lots currently and all but about 15 are built on. If you buy a lot or an existing home you are a shareholder of the community. Many retirement parks have shares that have a $ value and you can buy one and then pay a much lower amount in rent. Here there is no $ value to a share and they are not bought or sold independently, they go with the home or with the lot. Thus there are no residents who pay lower fees by owning a share. All residents are owners of one share and pay the same amount, regardless of lot. Home prices vary from the 20's to over 100,000 dollars. Lots can be priced more than others if they hold a desirable location. Yet everyone pays the same monthly maintenance fee and that is $268.
