Waited 30 min and saw the doctor saunter into the office - I can't believe he wasn't even THERE. They call us in 5 minutes later. Not a good first impression. The guy was nice enough, but the problem was he couldn't give a definitive answer as to what we should do. He said it might grow back normally, it might now - might have to get surgery. The finger might be infected - probably wasn't, but if it was we'd be in big trouble (sounded a bit like a scare tactic to get us to do surgery). He ended with - "You're a mom - you've got mom instincts, you'll make the right decision." Well, if that were true, I wouldn't be in the your office right now! Anyway, left the office thinking I'd definitely need a second opinion. Follow-up - did go somewhere else for a second opinion where they did know what they were talking about and everything worked out. Recommendation - Don't go here.

Dr. Klimisch did my hip surgery about 4 months ago and at that point in time I was having problems with the communication (lack there of, actually) and I never said anything at the time. Appointments ran late, he was taking phone calls during my appointment, sometimes in front of me and I just felt like he didn't care or feel like I was a priority. Well, after our chat I understand why that was happening (staffing shortages) and I feel like he has an understanding of the problems that I was having, AND more importantly, the genuine interest and drive to fix it. So with that being said, I'm diggin' him. My hip surgery went very well, he made sure that I didn't put myself in any situation where I would have an opportunity to re-injure myself i.e. starting PT too early. And now I'm feeling like I'm better than ever. He really gave me back vertical experiences, the opportunity to go on adventures with my husband and truly, my life. Now, I would recommend Dr. Klimisch. If any problems crop up, tell him! He does care about his patients and you will soon see that for yourself.

Prior to picking Laurelhurst, my sister and I had experience with the previous facility they were living in, as well as the six or seven other places we toured repeatedly in different states before choosing this Aegis facility. I have to give credit to Karen B and Hermann, who were extremely patient as we toured the facility at least five times before finally deciding on it. One of the reasons we went back so many times is that I had found that many places can schedule an appointment and put on a good show for a short time period, but that is exactly what they were doing, being on their best behavior for a tour. So we went back repeatedly, often with little notice, to see if the cracks would start to show but they were always on point. The facility is truly amazing, which it should be, because it is not inexpensive to live there. However the staff is what sets this place apart, and makes the cost worth it. They not only do their jobs, but they excel at them. My sister and I are there on a regular basis visiting our parents, so we see first hand the care and dedication which the staff has. They do what they are paid for, which was one of my biggest concerns. It doesn't matter if you are paying for services if they aren't being provided because staffing is insufficient. I have seen first hand that whether it is handing out meds, doing routine checks on residents, or taking care of maintenance issues that need to be addressed that they are correctly staffed to handle these needs and are on top of it. They have a regular assisted living apartments. And when we wanted two of them joined together they were able to put in a door to accommodate. They also have memory care, which my father will be utilizing sooner rather than later unfortunately. In addition to these levels of care, which are pretty standard, they are working on a new wing for transitional residents who have moved past the ability to live in the Assisted Living portion of the facility but are just not quite ready for full Memory Care. They have been open for about a year, so they are not quite yet full. I think they are currently at about 70% capacity. Unfortunately because it's such a new facility the buy in reflects this and is significantly higher than other facilities in the area, but my parents who are your typical Santa Fe types feel right at home here. It's all very spiffy. There are more to the aesthetics than I care to list here, so I took lots of pictures for you. The truth is I care more about the engine and how it runs, which is why I haven't really gone into all the prettiness of the place here, of which there is a lot to brag about. Admittedly I walked in a skeptic due to the previous experiences my family had with their facility in Santa Fe. Even without the previous concerns prodding me however I tend to be super skeptical, but Hermann the VP of Operations didn't get frustrated or irritated by my constant questions or requests to try the food, re-visit various parts of the facility and so on. My parents don't really have another move left in them so we are super thrilled that they love it here. The quality of care and condition of the facility sets our minds at ease, and we are relieved to finally have them living in the same state as us.

He got that at Foster Meadows along with very clean and pleasant surroundings and well trained support. He was in another place prior and I had to move him as the other place was not good. Compared to nursing homes, this was a 5 star experience. At the time he was there, a well trained, licsenced care giver was there and AWAKE 24/7. The price was 1/2 or less of a nursing home institution! The meals were home cooked and good quality food and they took care of Dad's limitations and requirements. I can't say enough good things! I guess to sum it up, if I needed to go someplace, I would choose there!

The woman who owes it is an RN who has trained her staff well. They let us have all my mom's personal things and we were able to come and go as we pleased. When my mom was dying and on hospice they worked well with the hospice team to keep my mom so clean and comfortable. The home is always spotlessly clean, has a beautiful view of downtown Seattle, and an outside patio for visiting. These people are bad news. Do not put your parent or loved one here. Their only goal is making…read moremoney and will take advantage of you during a very, vulnerable and emotional when you are trying to cope with the issues of an aging, ailing parent. Here is how: They will charge you a 30 day deposit at 6K. If your parent cannot return because of they need more care, they will not return the money. The State will do nothing. They say if you go into skilled nursing, we do not give your money back. They will ask for a 30 day notice. When you give 30 day notice, the State says they can keep 30 days. This is oxymoron. They know the system and will take advantage of you. Do not sign their move in contract. Get an attorney. Mark it up to say, if your parent is beyond what a AFH can provide or in the case of death, you can get your security deposit back. The co-owner is a nurse, but you will never see him. You may choose this place because you think it is "nurse owned". Don't bother. You may see him the day you move in and the day you move out. The other co-owner will give you multiple names, lie about deaths in her family, trip to funeral, pretend to be religious, and has many unexplained absences that last weeks. My mom was there from October 2011 to November 2012. She passed away in January 2013. They had numerous personnel problems while my mom was there. The food during this time was not fit for an animal. They even ran out of gloves and never put liners in the waste cans that held used incontinence product and many times were streaked with waste. This made me ill, so I purchased lines liners for the house. I provided lots food for my mom even though she was paying for meals. Most meals are terrible quality, small portion. Most meals are boxed mixes, very high in sodium. Nothing is ever perfect. And it is not good to keep moving a parent with Alzheimer's because it is so hard on them. However, I really gave this place too many chances. Murillo Villa, Murillo Manor, and Valley View AFH are owned by these people and are bad news. DO NOT GO HERE. Try "For Senior's Sake" or "Good Shepard Home" are highly recommended.

This is a very difficult time for me too and this is not easy. My husband has been there for two years now. He has numerous physical problems, but also early onset dementia. Yes, he has declined in the last two years as expected but with the communication and cooperative caregiving he is receiving at the Villa, he is as calm and as accepting as possible. He and I have come to see the Villa as our home. I am treated with utmost respect and warmth when I visit which is nearly every day. Because of my constant presence at the Villa, I am truly aware of what happens on a daily basis. The owner, Lyndsey, is caring and warm, making contact with each resident when she visits. The care manager, Phil, is constantly working to ensure the smooth day to day running of the business. The head caregiver, Maril, is a naturally gifted and sensitive professional. She sincerely gives attention to the residents in every possible way. The other two caregivers, Theresa and Mary, are also hard workers. They are smart and work hard at pleasing the residents and making their lives as intersting as possible. Choosing the Villa was easy with its light, clean, bright atmosphere. The best part is that this is NOT a big institution. If you have a problem or a question or just need to talk, it has been my experience that you need only contact Lyndsey or Phil or Maril. There is no middle management! I learned that early in the game and it has served my husband and me well. I speak and they listen. The Villa rocks!

Also I had a problem with the nurse named Hen. She was always telling me that my meds weren't there, and she would half my pain meds. And I needed them.... The food is awful.
