VETCOR NEWBERG - NO LONGER LOCALLY OWNED…read morehttps://www.vetcor.com/blog/acquisitions-february-2023 While they go out of their way to hide it, this is no longer our formerly beloved local Animal Hospital. In fact they are no longer a Hospital at all, offering zero walk in or last minute appointments, for light emergency services to their long standing and loyal customers. In addition to hiding their corporate ownership, their website has not been updated and still clearly states "Emergency cases shall always receive top priority, which is why occasional appointment delay is inevitable. Please realize that we make a sincere attempt to see each client on time" while they continue to display a staff picture despite half the Veterinarians leaving since the acquisition. The point of having a primary care vet is two fold. First is for regular scheduled checkups, but equally important is knowing that the vet you trust and work with has the capacity, or at least the intent, to see your pet when emergencies occur. The fact that they hide their corporate ownership, falsely continue to state services they no longer offer and present the faces of vets no longer working there makes it clear that their new corporate owners intentionally wish to mislead the local community. Don't be fooled, find a new primary care vet before it's too late for your pet.

Sit Means Sit

I'm going to try not to turn this into a dissertation, but I have SO much to say!…read more This is my third dog to go through Sit Means Sit, so I came in with experience and pretty high expectations. This time, I brought in Kevin, my 5-month-old Great Dane puppy, complete with all the bells, whistles, and puppy chaos you can imagine. I left with a completely different dog. A well-trained, confident, happy puppy who exceeded every expectation I had. And for that, I will never be able to repay Ethan in my lifetime. Ethan is not only an exceptional trainer, but an exceptional human being. He has a true gift for what he does, and that is something you simply cannot teach. His professionalism, patience, dedication, and genuine passion for these dogs are extraordinary. He has completely elevated this location and the entire training experience. Having gone through this program twice before, I can tell you firsthand what a difference he has made. In the past, I left with instructions to watch training videos. This time, I left with a detailed notebook, a daily training guide, and the tools to continue building on everything Kevin learned. That level of care, organization, and commitment is a GAME CHANGER! If you have the opportunity to request Ethan, DO IT. He is truly one of a kind. If I could wish for just one thing, it would be that Sit Means Sit could be affordable and accessible to every dog owner. Kevin is incredibly fortunate to have had this opportunity. This experience hasn't just changed his behavior; it has changed the trajectory of his entire life. And with a breed as magnificent, powerful, and special as a Great Dane, that means everything. I wish every dog and every owner could experience what Kevin and I have. Ethan, you have my eternal gratitude. What you do matters more than you may ever realize. You aren't simply training dogs. You are changing lives, strengthening the bond between dogs and their humans, and helping these incredible animals become the very best versions of themselves. You have made Kevin a better Great Dane, and you have made me a better owner. From the bottom of my heart, thank you, Ethan. You have a gift, and I hope you never underestimate the impact you have. Bless you, and thank you for giving Kevin such an incredible foundation for the rest of his life!

Well we are two weeks in with our doggie being home and having done a week of Board and Train with…read moreBrian. Prior to SMS, we were having issues with confidence and excitement. He was charging people and dogs while walking ONLY with me. And growling at and even attacked one of our cats, who for reference was his best friend for ages. They'd even sleep together and played a lot. I wanted Miles to get to training before we ended up with him biting someone was my greatest fear. So we picked him up on 4/20 in the morning and went over basics with Brian. Miles was EXHAUSTED for the first few days. Obviously from all that physical AND mental work. But he was immediately different. SO chill. Completely relaxed. By Tuesday of last week (just three FULL days after being home, almost 4,) I was already able to walk him and get Heel, Sit, Down and no reaction to people OR dogs passing with just a 1 tap on the remote. We started with a 3 or 4 the first few days.Miles regularly does GREAT with just this level. We went back on Friday, 4/26 for a session to follow up with Brian. We were VERY pleased with Miles progress as was Brian. We worked on the heel to perfect it and also Tie down, the leash stand and reviewed a few questions. Because Miles was doing so well, Brian suggested that maybe he'd do well with agility work. So he set him up a small course, and put him through it. Well Miles did NOT like it. He LOVED it!!! He had SO much fun. And he was doing AMAZING. He caught on SO fast. So fast rbat Brian sent us specs to build the jumps!! We also worked on high object "place." And Brian gave us lots of tips on that. With it only being 9 days since our pickup and 13 days since he started training, I'd say this was 1000% worth this training. We didn't have a BAD dog but a dog that needed some tweaks and some humans that needed help doing it. Now my husband and I look forward to walks and spending time with and taking him places. And Miles therefore gets MORE time with his people. Ellie, our daughter, LOVES doing "place" and commands with him and Jack, our son, is LOVING agility SO much that he and his dad already started building Miles jumps!!! We aren't very far into this but so far 5 HUGE stars. Thank you Brian!!! Also the office staff has been tremendous. They are responsive and kind and great at following up. 9ur entire experience from consultation to two weeks out is excellent!

I reached out to Dick to inform him of our loss and of Coach's subsequent problems-he got out to our new house as soon as he could, we worked him for a couple of hours this morning. We are so grateful for Dick, he's always there to answer questions, he's upfront and honest about what we're doing that's creating issues and he makes the training fun and enjoyable for all of us! I know he'll help us guide Coach through his grief and when we're ready to add to our family, we know Dick will be there to help every step of the way!

Dick was able to identify Hazel's problems immediately and right away organized a game plan to minimize her bad habits. He reiterated that training is not going to be an overnight thing, however after the first day of training , I can tell Hazel was reacting positively to the certain changes. She is still stubborn and sometimes going back to the bad habits, but I can always know that I can contact Dick if I ever need help with anything. It was a pleasure to work with him and just know that if you sign up with him, you'll have a person in your corner no matter the time or day.
