My go to: a very solid B+/A- of a theater. It could be improved by just a little update to amenities, like reclining seats and reserved seating. It has the best selection of movies playing in Williamsburg, always. If it's not playing here, you're going to have to drive at least half an hour out of town to see it. It's a great thing to do indoors, especially on Tuesdays, when movies are heavily discounted with a Regal card. Under $6 is unbeatable. Movies cost too much basically everywhere, but here they have military and student discounts as long as there's no other discount running. Even though Movie Tavern has more food choices, there are plenty of options here too. The location is conveniently around a lot of places to eat and plenty of parking, even if it's not super close. The proximity to Sweet Frog is dangerous but I love it. With all the other NewTown shops, you can make a movie into a full afternoon/night out of walking, talking, and eating.

My lady and I came here on MLK day to see the latest Bad Boys movie, clearly everyone else had the same idea of going to the movies because it was very packed inside the lobby. There was only one kiosk to purchase your tickets from and that line was very line but you can also order your tickets from the concession stand. There were several lines open and I waited on one of the concession stand line while my girl stood on the kiosk line to see who could get tickets first, she made it so I got off my line and grabbed a seat. We caught a 1pm showing and we got there earlier enough to get a good seat in the middle. The seats were comfy and the movie was great.

    Parking lot view of theater.

Movies never start on their advertised times. Add 20-30minutes if you want to skip the ads/trailers

The staff are nice but the seats are terrible. Could've been comfortable if you could incline them. Our neck was hurting after the movie.

The theater is always neat and clean, with a bright entrance and interesting movie posters. The café is welcoming, and the staff is a true highlight of the experience. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with a genuine smile and a welcoming attitude. The staff is incredibly friendly, polite, and patient, ensuring every step of your visit, from ordering at the café to having your food delivered to your seat, is seamless and pleasant. Their dedication to great service truly sets this theater apart. The food and drinks are a major highlight. There are many delicious choices, and everything is consistently tasty and served hot. The popcorn, in particular, is far superior and fresher than what you get at other theaters. I love the convenience of ordering food and an adult beverage right from my seat and having it delivered hot and quickly. The selection of on-tap beers is also a nice touch. The reclining seats with leg supports are super comfortable, making for a truly relaxing movie-watching experience. Best part is free refills on your popcorn, which is great since I like to take a bucket home with me :) Whether I'm catching a $6 movie on a Tuesday in one of the smaller theaters or a full-price movie in the main auditorium, it's always a great time. If you're looking for a theater with excellent food, comfortable seating, and friendly service, this is the place to go.

If I could've waited, I would've. 3. It was raining so the lobby floor was wet. Not a wet floor sign in sight. 4. The back row in Theater 8 is literally the same height as the row in front of it.. it's like the row was added on at some point. If you're too short, you can't see past the chair to see the whole screen. 5. The screen was small. 6. In the back row, we had to put the recliner down for food runners to get past. And that was several times throughout the movie. One food runner actually walked over my reclined legs as i was struggled to push the right button to put it down. Then they hit the tray table next to me and popcorn went flying. They definitely hurt themselves and i felt bad. But this is also probably a longstanding issue. 7. In one of the back row seats we paid for, you had to turn your head to even see the screen. Otherwise, you'd be looking at the emergency door because the screen doesn't extend into the POV of the chair correctly. The only good things from my experience were comfortable chairs, central location and great ticket prices (paid $26 for 4 tickets).

We stayed a few miles away, so we drove in and parked at the visitors center (paid parking). Go inside the visitors center to get your passes & maps (make sure you get the clip passes as every person manning the doors at the different houses will ask). Go down to the bottom of the visitors center and catch the WATA bus to go into the historical section. We started at the governor's mansion and walked from there. You'll easily get 10,000 steps if you see the whole property, if you have mobility issues you definitely should rent a scooter (there are quite a few rental spots around the visitors center). You can take the WATA bus to most of the big attractions, but walking through really gives you the whole experience. We made the mistake of going on a 95° day in August and quickly realized there is little shade on property. Be prepared to be in direct sun most of the day. We had someone in our group who was hard of hearing using hearing aids, and it was quite hard to hear a lot of the tour guides in the buildings with the echoes. Emily in the governors mansion was the best tour guide by far. A must see attraction, but do your research and plan your trip before coming

Colonial Williamsburg should be so much easier to visit than it is…read more We visited as a family and were really looking forward to the experience, but left disappointed largely because the wayfinding is so poor. The printed map is surprisingly difficult to use, directional signage is inadequate, and it is often unnecessarily hard to work out where you are and how to get to the next attraction or program. And it wasn't just us. I lost count of how many visitors we saw standing staring at maps, apparently trying to figure out where to go next. This was especially frustrating because someone in our party has limited mobility following recent surgery. Walking several hundred yards in the wrong direction isn't just an inconvenience in that situation. In 2026, a major attraction covering an area this large should have proper smartphone navigation. You should be able to select "Governor's Palace," a particular program, restaurant, restroom, or bus stop and get GPS walking directions from your current location, along with distance, accessibility information, and estimated walking time. Better physical directional signs are badly needed as well. There is so much history here and clearly an enormous amount of work goes into preserving and interpreting it. The problem is finding it. Colonial Williamsburg could be a wonderful visitor experience. Unfortunately, today we spent far too much time trying to figure out where we were and where we were supposed to go. This is a very fixable problem, and I hope they fix it.
