This is a beautiful little theater in the heart of Colonial Williamsburg. We went to a musical fundraiser for the Rotary Club here on a Saturday evening. There's also a little concession stand area to the left upon entering the theater. There are clean bathrooms. The theater is very clean with great acoustic ceilings. From what I understand, everything is played here from concerts, to plays, to meetings. I can't wait to attend more performances here in this theater!

The Kimball Theatre: Seating capacity: 410. Intimate!😊

Yesterday, at The Kimball, I saw Opera in Williamsburg perform Mozart's "The Magic Flute." This is a review of the venue, not specifically Mozart's work or the performing troupe. The normally intimate Kimball Theatre seemed claustrophobic with a sell-out audience. The Kimball, built in the 1930s, was feeling her age, as evidenced by the queues at the ladies' rooms during intermission. And little old ladies (we seemed to be a significant chunk of the demography) frequently do not do long lines well. Acoustics were excellent. The seats were comfortable, even after 3 hours of sitting on me bum. The Kimball, with a seating capacity of 410, is small enough so that entering the stage from one of the two aisles seems just as sensible as entering from the wings. There were no show-stoppers, however, and I intend to enjoy more productions at the Kimball in the future.

From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcomed. Every interaction was positive--from check-in, to the snack bar, to the performers engaging with the audience. Brandon and Hannah were especially great on stage, and they even took time afterward to show the kids magic tricks in the shop, which was a big hit. The theater is small and intimate (around 125 seats), which works in its favor. Even though the show wasn't completely sold out, the audience energy was high and made the experience feel lively and interactive. We were seated toward the back, but audience participation happened throughout the room, and several people from our group were still selected. Our group ranged in age from 5 to 75, and everyone stayed engaged the entire time. The show was family-friendly, upbeat, and fast-paced, with a nice mix of impressive magic and personal stories about the performers and how magic has shaped their lives. Overall, it was a fun, memorable experience for all ages. As locals, we're very glad we went--and we'll definitely be back!

For a small company in a nice but intimate facility this was a fun show with great talent. The director did an outstanding job choosing great talent for the leads ... Mrs. Hasler ... perfect. Good costumes and I liked her 50's hairdos. Lovely Georgia Hester the sexy secretary. She dances well too. The voices of several were terrific especially Wren Beavers and Andrew Christensen. Jeff Nicoloff, his improvisations were terrific. Good comedic acting. Just thinking about it makes me smile. I love theatre and this was a wonderful show right here in Williamsburg. Two of us wanted lighter food tonight, so we had grilled salmon in a house salad and the shrimp and brie appetizer. Our third diner had the red fish with shrimp, over some grits. I placed an order for twelve york river oysters, a Bloody Mary, and the fried green tomatoes. The bar was small and intimate with two televisions, both on football games, and other customers who were friendly and social. My drink arrived first, and while very flavorful, for $13, I found it to be on the small side. I've gotten a larger Bloody Mary's of equal quality at other restaurants for less money. I think you should work on either the price point or the portion size here. The oysters arrived properly iced with lemon wedges and generous portions of cocktail sauce, horseradish, and terrific garlic butter. They were perfect. Shortly after, the fried green tomatoes arrived. Such a disappointment. The presentation was excellent, the diced red tomatoes a nice color accent, but the green tomato slices were wafer thin and were overpowered by the pimento cheese, totally wrecking the flavor profile of the dish.....the portion sizes should have been reversed. They were the absolute thinnest slices of tomato I have ever encountered on a serving of F.G.T. The dollar special on the oysters is enough to get me back in, but I will reexamine my menu and drink choices on my next visit.
